Thanks for good introduction. I have an issue with collimation of the recently bought TSO-ONTC 606 Newton. After the collimation of the secondary and primary mirrors is done with a Cheshire, residual off-axis of the focuser drawtube is observed which is quite severe and exceeds by times the secondary mirror offset appropriate for a fast f/4 scope. It seems, the 2" TS focuser needs collimation as it is obviously mounted non coaxial with the light path after the secondary mirror. Please advise whether this particular model of the TS focuser allows collimation. Thanks in advance.
I have decided to order an 8” f5 ONTC. One question. I intend to get a PrimaLuce ESATTO focuser for it. Do you offer or can you recommend the right-sized tube adapter and visual back I will need to attach this focuser? Thank you! Looking forward to using this promising Newt!
@@regp5the pricing is just kind of misleading to me. You have to also add the focuser, and doverail. Those with the coma corrector and you’re well over $4000. At that point you can get a huge dob for visual, but I can see it being worth it for strictly astrophotography. I was going to get the 10” ONTC for visual/imaging, but I’m looking at €2850 before €523 shipping and that’s excluding the focuser. Depending which focuser I want, that’s an additional $300-650. With the UNC, the focuser is included in the €1575 price, I just need to add the doverail and coma corrector bringing it to €1944 plus €523 shipping. You also have to pay customs duty and any brokerage fees.
@@jonathanpineda2774 To be fair the UNC and ONTC are primarily imaging telescopes that can also do visual. Someone focused on visual would definitely be better served by a dob. Yes, the verbiage on the site could be a little more clear about how the ontc ordering works but that type of scheme is pretty common in the premium telescope segment. TS could very easily add "starting at" to the price of the ONTC like Planewave and others do so people know to expect more.
Thanks for a great video! I was wondering, have the sourcing issues of the carbon tubes been solved? I’m considering ordering one (the 8” f5 ontc notably), and am a bit afraid of the delivery times. I’ve heard stories of customers having to wait months and months before getting theirs. Thanks!!
Helloooo, it depends if the chosen components are on stock or if they must be ordered. In general, the delivery situation with our carbon tubes has eased much. We can now promise binding delivery times of 6 - 12 weeks, if all is on stock (tube, mirrors, focuser etc) 🙂 The best is you will write us an e-mail to: info(at)teleskop-service(dot)de we will help with all your questions and support you to choose the right components + u will get an offer and the approx delivey time. Best Bernhard
That ONTC is a beautiful scope. I did have a question though - you said that when ordering the telescope in the standard configuration it's already equipped with coma corrector. I thought that on your website you had to add a coma corrector as an additional expense to the order. Or did I just misunderstand and you were saying that when ordering the ONTC telescope almost everybody will also order the coma corrector because the telescope is used for astrophotography so much?
Dear Uschi, thank you for the question and sorry for the misunderstanding! You are right, you have to select and order the Coma Corrector by yourself. For the video i had a complete package here. But, when you for example, do visual only, or just want to order the corrector later, this fine to skip this part.
I absolutely love my ONTC 8, it is a wonderful scope. I highly recommend it and have enjoyed it thoroughly. However, it pains me to admit that the secondary mirror and the spider are not paired well, at least on mine. The adjustment screws don’t line up with the pits on the back of the secondary mirror. Also, the screws on the secondary feel cheap and have had metal scraping off the threads from day one. Perhaps I have an early model, I’m more than happy to change these out if they have been updated. I’d love to hear from others about this
we have adjustment knobs for better collimation www.teleskop-express.de/de/teleskop-zubehoer-5/teleskop-selbstbau-verbesserung-299/selbstbau-mechanische-teile-64/ts-optics-m4-raendelschrauben-fuer-fangspiegeljustierung-laenge-45-mm-5366 these screws are better ! if you need support please write to our expert consultants at info@teleskop-service.de
I noticed the lack of baffles as well. The down side of the baffles is that they push thermal currents away from the edges into the optical path. But that can be solved with a larger diameter tube
Definitiv ein Traum so ein ONTC Newton! Danke für das Video!
vielen dank 🙂
Dreaming of one for years ;) beautiful machines.

Hi
What is the mirror quality of the ONTC series?
Also, that secondary mirror cell doesn't look like it's going to hold collimation well. Will it?

Thanks, Its nice to see these in video. I'm always looking at them on your site :-)
Have a 10" ONTC and I couldnt live it more.

Ciao! Vedo l'interno del tubo, Nero con del velluto. Quanto è utile annerire l'interno del tubo per astrofotografia deep sky?
Bellissimo prodotto!
