Thanks for uploading. Simon is a great guy, met him on a number of occasions and read so many of his writings over the years. Great to see him drive it to meetings and then race it and drive home.
What a magnificent machine this is. We just toured the Miles Collier/Briggs Cunningham collection in Naples FLA. Quite certain those chaps would have loved this as well, back in their day. Cheers 😎👍🏁🏆
I raced against the Stovebolt Special when Murry Smith owned it in the US in the 80's & 90's. The car was a rocket AND had disk brakes so it slowed very well. Combined with Murry's driving talents it was a tough combination to beat!
Hi . Great youtube clip thank you. You need to bring this car to The Vernasca Silver Flag Hill climb in Italy and the Ollon -Villars Hill climb in Southern Switzerland. Both great events and over several miles not a 60 second thrash. Great car not sure what can compare in 2025 even if money is no object? So many Supercar adverts claiming they have just built the "Ultimate driving machine " Hmmmm ? a few minutes in this would put the record straight!!
Glad you liked it. The VSCC have so many interesting vehicles in the club. we have other videos on our channel like this one that you may find interesting. ruclips.net/video/gEXDR3qzIes/видео.html
Can Lummox has it? I'd daily drive the hell outta that thing! It's the perfect car to me. Why "Stovebolt"? Probably not because Stovebolt Chevy 6 cyl. originally? Thanks for the video!
Haha you'd have to check with the man himself, but I'm not sure Simon is ready to part with it just yet. You are right to make the connection to Chevy but it never actually had a Stovebolt engine. You can read more about the origins of the name in this article www.driving.co.uk/features/unique-ex-stirling-moss-racing-car-driven-kirk-douglas-movie-racers-star-classic-sports-car-show/
So when it's stated that the car was originally built in the early 1950's before the advent of the first overhead small block Chev V8 and also called "Stovebolt" Special are we to conclude it was actually powered by an extremely tall profile "Stovebolt" six cylinder GM engine? Gadzooks that can't be right, can it?

Thanks for your comment. Great to know it's appreciated. We enjoyed it too.
Great to see Marcus. He taught me to heel and toe at a Team Touraco racing course at Cadwell in 1981.
Great to see Marcus and Simon with the Stovebolt Special. Lovely to remember Wiscombe Park in sunshine last May. 😎

Some incredible cars in that collection, especially if you like racing Porsches. 917 is just 🥰
Wow, that is a "sports car " and that is a driver. The sound of the straight cut gears. Cheers Drive.
I remember seeing this car in Sports Cars Illustrated.

What a brilliant memory. Thanks for sharing.
The downside of driving to the track is that if anything goes wrong with the car, you have an unscheduled walk home and a collection problem.
Not much to go wrong that you couldn't fix right there.
This is what the Motorsport Family is for...

Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
Great to see there's global interest in the car 👌
BRILLIANT!!!!! The only word to cover it.
Thanks for that feedback.

@@speedonscreen Ok great - thanks for the reply!
@@speedonscreen Well done; you answered my question posed before I had read the entire thread.
