  • For years, Kenya Airways has been a symbol of Kenya's national pride, the national carrier and Kenya's flag in the air to various destinations. But after nearly 10 years of debt, mismanagement and misfortune, Kenya's parliament has made steps to nationalize the airline. The huge losses will soon be added to the taxpayer's financial burden. Watch #FallOfThePride for more.

Glad the Cargo Manager spoke. An A320 type/ 787 mix would make a lot more sense for Kenya Airways, given cargo is so important there. If they have LD3 containers to move to a certain destination & a passenger load too small for a 787, that's where the A320 types come in. The 737 or Embraer types can't perform those tasks. Look around the world & quite a few airlines use A320/787 combination with success.

Its so irony how KQ makes loses yet it appears most expensive and classy. Early on January I headed to KQ booking office in Dubai a place called Al fahidi. I was taking my 35 days vacation leave from work so I had to travel home and spens time with my family. When I reached the office I wanted a flight of around 5th Jan. When I did enquiry it was very expensive arround 2500aed round ticket. I thought for a while n I decided to compare the prices. I walked to Ethiopian airline offices, only to get that the ticket is half the price of that of KQ on the same day and same class. On boarding the ethiopian airline was very classy. I asked myself many questions why KQ is always too expensive yet other airlines are cheap? On landing to addis ababa that airport is very busy. Yet when you compare ethiopia economy and kenya economy, Kenya we are very far ahead. Its such devastating.

Yani from the intro alone and comments, I feel my stress levels are going up... so this one is to be watched when my emotional capacity and filters can handle more bad news from Kenya! Yani, we are so corrupt like in Sodom and Gomorrah, when Abraham pleaded with God, ati if there was one innocent person, would God spare the town, and God showed Abraham that there was not a single innocent apart from Lot who was saved. Sometimes it feels like in Kenya, we are just Sodom and Gomorah. The politicians we have, the leaders in parastatles, CEO etc are a reflection of our nation! Mwenyezi Mola tu... ndiye anaweza tusaidia!!! We steal, we are bribe, we accept bribes, we steal some more, we let murders walk, thieves go free, steal from the poor! Mungu atusamehe!!

We talk about journalism at its own class on this documentary, well appreciated ,an eye opener to the many kenyans and any one who might have been asking what is cooking at KQ,but on my side i surprisingly see thugs, thieves who are genius at KQ,I consider them as criminals at their own class.if surely this documentary is over one month old,we have exposed the rot at kenya airways, mentioned Gordon anyimu as the key player of corruption and bringing KQ down, mentioned the good looking woman irenee lempaka as the key player of corruption, mentioned the tom ogendo as a ticket fraud, flight cancellation master planner, mentioned the planner at GSE workshop as key person to stollen KQ assets he Jon Amani, mentioned Dick murianki for all rotten ideas and revenue stealing.no action at this time.management at operations is poor.so what is kenya airways board led by Michael joseph thinking about this.this is not the first time to report this stupidity actions.these are people who should go home empty handed.this story was exposed about three years ago and no action.so the board is too rotten with thieves.there is total pretense on fight on corruption in KQ.

Kenya airways CEO is making this company even more worse, like a private club and a family thing.the government has given kenya airways billions to pay staff salary areas accumulated during the COVID19.The CEO refuses with the money and argues that it is only few staff who worked during the COVID19.a pity, ask the CEO where that money went to.he has shared with cartels who support him.how do someone eat money belonging to staff yet he is only less than one and half years old in the organization?

Those narrow body carriages had more downstream costs than explained here. I remember wondering how they can use expensive couriers to shuttle luggage all over Nairobi on a daily basis smh

if the current KQ senior management is punishing staff by sending head of security to attack a former staff and use the police to threaten the same simply because cartels have been exposed,so how is the problem of corruption in this country going to end leave alone kenya airways?we have many kenyans who have been killed because of what morris did,and is the reason behind why we cannot fight with those who pretend to be holy when it comes to fighting corruption.you expose corruption ,you are gone.shame on you CEO kilavuka and the HR team.

Great journalism from Africa Uncensored team. The take over of the carrier by G.o.K will not be a solution to the ailing airline. The solution lies among the employees of KQ, from the top management to the last employee. Let everyone stop stealing and KQ will be profitable, let them start offering best services and passengers will flock in, let them improve on time management and reliability and bookings will shoot up. KQ is capable of going back to where it was only that the plague of corruption struck it and it came to the limelight when it is too late.

At the moment the problem of this country not only kenya airways is because of poor appointments of people like Akllan Kilavuka the CEO of kenya airways.who appointed him with whose authority?kenya airways board chaired by michael joseph.how did land at jambo jet before getting to KQ?Whatever is happening in kenya airways is looting right now, nothing more nothing less.he always boast that he is in KQ because of state house powers and not by merit.he bosts he visit the state house any time.his security driver and body guard mr Micah has always revealed these secrets to kenyans.sadly because of all these bad management KQ will not soon turn things around.when you talk about KQ to recall people like Okwiri who knew what was good for the pride of Africa,is a good idea but do you think it can happen?

Parking and landing fee are paid to KAA since KQ is under privatisation. When they nationalise it (turn it to a parastatal) no parking fee no landing fee so profits will be automatic. Its just politics.

Damn! I liked the Dan Okwiri parts. He was an insider and is therefore a good authority to listen to. The others seem to just peddle hearsay, and rumors. Such shallow and subjective investigative journalism. John, please investigate objectively, and speak to experts and financial analysts who know the airline business well. Why only have one finance expert (Bodo) in a series that is basically investigating the financial blunders of the company? Why is a journalist (Wafula) an authority in this series? What does he know about fuel hedging that he learned at Kenya Sch of Mass communication? How many bigger airlines have collapsed globally in the last 15 years? How are African airlines generally performing? But I guess you have achieved your goal (to generate outrage and anger through a shallow and sensationalist series).

This series fails to ask many of the right questions, and fails to ask them to the right people. This is just sensational journalism. But I don't expect much from Kenyan journalists, they are not the brightest Kenyans we have.

True. Shallow, sensational and mediocre journalism at best. Speak to investors and financial analysts, and also ask important and relevant questions to more experts like Dan and Bodo. Ask other experts globally who have ran airlines. Score 3/10. Fail.
