Hi Bill. One thing to consider, if you buy a bag of chinchilla sand from Pets At Home, it's pretty much similar to Woodland Scenics ballast, if a little paler. It's £5 for a 7lb bag as opposed to £16 for a tub. Itll give a good feature with new ballast around axreplaced point, just like on the real railway. Maybe stick a couple of knackered buses mear the station when you do it.
Thanks for the update video. I admire your repair work, and am always catching up with your latest 'patient' videos. I notice in the background you have a Morley controller... Id be interested to know your thoughts on it, perhaps compared to the more common Gaugemasters... cheers, and keep up the great work.
This looks so good and practical; full access to the inside of the hill - mountain. Once the retaining wall is in place the view across the rails to the road bridge is gonna look great. So many photo or video views around the layout: although you say so far behind you’re still moving forward and that’s the key. It’s gonna look great once done. Looking forward to seeing the clips from your other repairs and services; some must have you laughing as to what you find. Great video as always; all best Marc from Leighton Buzzard
Great work Bill. Like you I don’t touch my layout in the summer months. I will start again in November then through to March. The exception being a running session whilst watching RUclips. All the best and thank you for the amazing repair work you put out.
Just read the comment about using well fixed trees or buildings for lifting the removeable sections, another idea from another youtuber I watched, think it was Julian from Station Road? Is to fix handles underneath a building or buildings this hides them completely, great idea if you have not been told already or know already. Keep the repair videos coming I learn so much each time, thank you.
Your future plans sound good. They will inform and entertain us viewers. Very much liked all the trains in the running session. I think the LMS 4P was my favourite, even though I'm a fully paid-up member of the Class 37 Appreciation Society.
The Dapol Country Inn kit might look nice among the greenery! Was at a Swansea show on Saturday & got Britannia and an old green 37 for fifteen quid each, and they run!
The layout is looking good bill.I’m in the process myself of pulling my layout down.then building my new cabin.for my new layout.I’m trying to juggle mine in between my work.which is very time consuming.anyway keep up the good work.always look forward to seeing your vids.
Great stuff - I especially like the view into the junction leading to the new tunnel. That will look great once given the full scenic treatment. Looking forward to getting more done on my own layout - I’m way back at the baseboard stage, about a third done. I decided to try the 00 Bill polystyrene method, which I’ve never used before
What! You're behind schedule! That almost never happens ;-) Nice to get an update on how you're getting on having seen it in the background in the repair videos. Cheers
Hi Bill just a random question nothing to do with your latest video, how do I get in touch with you? Got a problem with a Hornby R 2039 Cheltenham think there is a problem with the pickups it is tender driven but pickups on the main engine engine as well tested the tender and runs fine but when on the track and linked to the engine it's stop and start. Many thanks Paul. PS love your videos.
It actually broke just after I installed it but I glued it then. Lasted a while as it's not operated very often. Also it has very temperamental continuity of current so it really needs taken out and worked on or replaced.
@@oobill Ah yes, I forgot that with insulfrog they rely on switch blades for continuity, I use the modifed streamline live points so as long as the glue holds up lectrics is from the bonded stock rails.
Why not glue the point, Bill? If it doesn't wotk you've lost nothing and if it does you'll be able to use it until you're ready to do the replacement video.
Just a suggestion but you could use well placed houses or trees, firmly fixed, as handles for lifting the removable sections without handling the covers directly.
A very small point, but would love to see Dr Who & some assistants emerging from the Police Box or lurking under the bridge arches. It's the child in me. Otherwise, it's an odd place for a Police Box, so perhaps you had something similar in mind?
Love it. I can watch trains go round and round all day. Great scenery and the different levels add so much.

The rivet counters can say what they like. You can’t beat a tail chaser 😂. Nothing as satisfying as just watching the trains go by… 👍
i wish youwould do some dcc conversions oen day
The layout looking good
Thank you for the update

Looking good and really interesting solutions. Thanks for sharing
A great progression from your previous layout and a great job you’ve made of it so far

Hi Bill. I must say that the layout is looking good. Steady progress is all it needs , well done. The loco's performed beautifully. Good luck.
Love the layout Bill.👍

I love your layout Bill. I noticed Dr Who has landed 😂.
Great to see a layout update looks good thanks lee
Looks good. Where do you get your track worker figures ?
They are Bachmann figures.
Your layout looks superb, loved the modular hill. What did you make it from?
Polystyrene, modroc and plaster.
Wonderful looking layout. If I want to send you engines for repair where do I send them? Look forward to your reply.

Nice one thanks
I had a similar point issue 10 years ago, a very little superglue and left over night to fully dry, still working, good luck.
It actually broke just after I installed it but I glued it then. Lasted a while as it's not operated very often. Also it has very temperamental continuity of current so it really needs taken out and worked on or replaced.

Like section you can lift out gives some ideas for the future over tunnel sections

It was actually already glued after it failed a while ago. It also doesn't allow current through reliably so it's going to come out...
Lovin it!
Just a suggestion but you could use well placed houses or trees, firmly fixed, as handles for lifting the removable sections without handling the covers directly.
Have you considered a doing live stream in order to achieve the additional recording of repairs and answering questions etc.
Nope. It could and probably would go wrong in all sorts of ways.
what is your favourite loco please bill?
Steam - J36. Diesel - 37 and 43. Electric - 385. But really just any loco that behaves itself...
@@oobill thank you, love the l;ayout - imaginative and beautifully executed, i liked the earlier one too.
That much ballasting I would find daunting. My least favourite job. Thanks once again for your videos
