- "Snow Monkeys" producer and cinematographer Joe Pontecorvo sought to capture the life of Japanese Macaques deep within the snow-covered mountains of Northern Japan, in a valley named Jigokudani, meaning "Hell Valley". Pontecorvo and his wife Nimmida Pontecorvo followed an individual snow monkey troop of over 160 members for over a year to truly get to know these fascinating creatures. Hands down the best nature doc I have ever seen. I watched it and then watched it about 5 more times to show other people. It’s not just the monkeys that were fascinating. The production quality is just amazing. This film is a true cinematic treasure. Thanks to those responsible for making it! Bravo!!!!!!
you guys deserve an a-plus-plus this was the best documentary that I have seen. I love the compassion you and your wife have for the Monkees. I left with a sense of having been on location with you guys and getting to know at least one of the Monkees ... baby hero. Great work guys keep those wonderful documentaries coming.
The baby monkeys and just so adorable
This is the most relaxing video my 5 yr old son who's on the spectrum enjoys. This is our nightly bedtime routine. Watching Snow Monkeys.
Oh I love it these are absolutely beautiful monkeys out of all the different entertainments of seeing monkeys I think this is the most wonderful one I have ever seen I will enjoy seeing more of these in regards to all different types of monkeys throughout the world 🌍🌍🌍 thank you for sharing I hope to see more 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
日本猿本来の姿が映し出されていて とてもいい映像を見ることが出来ました。
Thank you.
This was a good video but wait until you see Kiyo in action. He lives with the snow monkeys at the park in Japan and the monkeys love him. He has some of the best videos ever and I have watched all of them several times and can’t get enough of them. Try out his videos on you tube and you will a thrill. He is the best.
That was one of thee best videos I have ever seen. Thank you for ALL the hard work you and your wife have done.
Wonderful ! とてもステキな動画でした。貴重な動画です。一度あのニホンザル達に会いにいってみたくなりました♪
I just watched the documentary last night and was so taken by the images and relationships between the troupe members, especially the unexpected friendship between little Hero and the lead male, I wanted to know more. Wow, this behind the scenes video makes definitely makes me appreciate these amazing monkeys even more, and the work you guys have done to bring their lives into our homes is just awesome. Thank you!!!
The beauty and the harsh of the life!
I absolutely fell in love with these beautiful animals! I first watched your documentary then found this. Thank you, your filming is amazing. I cried,I laughed and worried. I hated to see it end!
This is one of my favorite documentaries, and there is nothing cuter than a baby snow monkey! :-) I wonder how Hiro is doing as an adult, could he one day become leader the troop? It would be so great if the Pontecorvos made another snow monkey film. Yes, we need a snow monkey movie sequel!
The moment of truth being a photographer!
