Great job men! I liked the whole video. The USB mishap was cool to leave in ... All of it was fun. The rundown at the end about the advantages of traveling with the antenna was helpful. 73!
Thanks, Matthew. Mistakes happen and I think it’s important to be open about them so we can all learn. The portability and flexibility of this antenna is great.
Thanks, I totally agree. But it is good for travel, and it's a flexible setup when you can't put a wire in a tree, stakes in the ground, etc. It was my first time using an elevated radial and something I want to explore more.
I let @TangoOscarMikeN3WS borrow mine for a short time to try it out to see if he’d like it. He’s correct a longer whip is much better. I’ve had an up to 17’ whip on mine and it makes a world of difference. It does get wobbly if there’s any stronger wind other than a breeze, but it pays off if you can get away with it. Unfortunately at that point it loses its portability factor.
@@truckinguy92 there will always be better options or ways to improve performance, but sometimes the portability and flexibility can be the driving considerations. It's always good to have options.
I have the BuddiStick Pro as well and for what it is, it does surprisingly well. Once you learn where the counterpoise lengths are for the bands you want to tune, setup is quick and simple. It works much better with a longer whip though as the actual radiating part of the antenna is only 4’ long. Great video Mike!
@@truckinguy92 The single counterpoise is terrible. You will walk a mile trying to tune it. I have had them all truckingguy92. The aluminum comes apart over time. Reach out to buddy and they dont stand behind the product. So many antennas kill this setup.
You two did a great job. Loved the review of antenna. I am oven in Boston NY, I remember that heat wave. 2 days we broke record high and 2 outher days we tied record. and was super HUMID as well. now after we cold. near record cold . Girlfriend put extra blanket on bed. Bands been the same hear . At night 40 meters noise floor comes up a lot. like S 9 . 80/160 meters S10 or higher. and that a park that in winter months . 40/80 gets going real good. USB on 40 meters . LOL . well FT8 is good. I had some luck 17 meters lately. 10/12 been closed . been some graline action. 10 and 6 meters. 73's
I have this antenna in my arsenal and it does good for being a compromised system. It scores really well for portability and with a 100w rig you can get on the air just fine. When I have time I prefer wire antennas but that's not always feasible
I haven’t had any issues with it falling over and breaking the connector. It does come with an eye bolt with some cord attached that screws into the bottom of the Versa-Hub so you can either tie to a weight or a small ground spike. This helps to keep it from falling over.
That’s how it was when I got it used. I vaguely recall hearing or seeing something about it before but can’t recall. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Great video!🎙
Thanks Izzo!
7.200 😮😮😮😅😅😅
Thanks for watching! It was fun and surprising, LOL.

That antenna is really well designed. It would be nice if it had a longer whip, but then the tripod gets flimsy. Great job.

Thanks, I was impressed with it and found the tuning spots on the radial very easy.
I will stick to my Wolf River coil. I have a buddy stick. No good.
The WRC was my first antenna and it's a good one, especially given the options and portability. Thanks for watching!
How do you figure it’s no good? This video shows the exact opposite of this statement.

Thanks, Robert. Bands have definitely been "different" lately. But I'm still out having fun and making contacts. Have a Happy 4th of July!
Liberty Chill! Congrats on the POTA DX and the USB 40 contact! Not many can claim that! 73
LOL, that’s true-not many can claim a USB contact on 7.200MHz 😂 Thanks for watching!!

That’s what I’m thinking, having only used it once and with 100W. For travel though, it’s amazing how small and neat it packs up.
The BNC on the base tripod is a major weak point. I know personally.
Good to know-I appreciate the heads-up. Hopefully you were able to fix any issues. Thanks for watching!

@@truckinguy92 I do like how they have the attachment point and I figured event something as simple as a gallon water jug could add more support.
Mike, I’ve seen the twisted DC power cable before. What purpose does it serve?
