    Just bought the large frame 9mm witness today, new for $269. I could not pass up that deal. Will be getting the .45ACP conversion kit a s.s.p. can't wait for it to get here!!

      Wow. Please tell where u got a large frame for 269. Was it new or used? Polymer or all steel? The one in this video is full size, but is the small frame witness. The best deal I've got on a large frame was a used wonder finish one for 350. Thanks for watching.

      I guess mine is small frame. Witness ps. Still think it's a great deal. Was $265 actually. :)

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  9 лет назад

      Yes, 265 is still a great deal for the ps. I like the ps a lot. Have two of them. The only limitation with the ps is that your only caliber choices are 9mm, 40, and 22. Otherwise I actually prefer the small frame over the large frame.

    bought one these for my first hand gun purchase and I couldn't be happier I absolutely love it I have 800rnds through it with not one jam or even any kind of issue. the witness ps 9mm is a great gun at a great price. I notice it cycles better with the mecgar CZ75B mags better than the stock mag it came with. I picked mine up for $320 after taxes and a mecgar mag. Everyone that I have let shoot it has absolutely loved it including a few competitive shooters. the only negative is I can't find any decent holsters for it.

    • @darink300zx

      I'm not sure what makes it white but it's some kind of gun grease I picked up years ago, I think it was from wilson combat. I don't use it any more, I mainly use frog lube now.

    Nice video, the best on the EAA Witness 9mm. I ordered mine on July 29th, $271.39, 9mm/16 round. My laser sight came today, tomorrow my snap caps and Maglula loader come. 1 Jan 2015 the state of NV started collecting tax for weapons ship to them. But because i have my weapon shipped to Nellis AFB (RETUSAF/rod&gun club), there's no tax. Looking forward to picking it up.

    It is a very good gun. I do not know about being a "bargain", but compared to over -priced perfection guns in the 550 to 650 dollar range, this thing shoots just as well and is made just as well. Three hundred spare dollars gives a lot of shooting pleasure in the form of little brass cartridges! EAA / Tanfoglio Witness 9mm Review

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад

      I guess it just depends on what someone considers a bargain. It's a bargain for me. I have not had any issues with it. I recently picked up a 22 conversion kit for it to add to the .40 conversion kit I bought a couple months ago. All in all I have about 700 dollars in this gun (the gun plus the two conversion kits) which isn't bad considering the three caliber options I have with it now. If I just want to shoot it and play around I put in the 22 kit. If I want to keep at home for home defense or carry it on my person I have two centerfire cartridges to choose from. It is a very versatile platform. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    • @johnnyrailroad6921
      @johnnyrailroad6921 10 лет назад

      I know what you mean about bargain, but it is just a darned good deal if you ask me. I like mine! I do like the ability to change the caliber. It's a great design. It feels good n the hand and shoots as good as any other.

      I can not speak to that MrAimright.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад +1

      MrAIMright No it won't be a problem in my opinion. I actually hadn't heard of any frame cracking issues, but and I'm making an assumption here, maybe you are referring to the slide cracking issues from several years ago? This problem was on their 10mm slides and from what I understand didn't affect the other calibers. Also from what I understand this is no longer an issue, so unless you're looking at a used 10mm witness, I wouldn't worry about it. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    Thank you for this and you're other CZ and CZ clone videos. I'm a fan of the CZ 75 myself and own a few. It was rather difficult finding information (reliable) describing the different frame sizes that EAA imports from Tanfoglio. I was leery of ordering one until I was certain which one I would actually be receiving (it seems very few retailers know which model they are selling or the difference between the two frames/slides/magazines/etc.). It is very simple once you understand and know what to look for, so once again, thank you. I appreciate your help and knowledge.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  9 лет назад

      Not a problem, thank you for the kind words. Something I've noticed a lot on gun broker over the past year or so are the "P-Carry" models that some of the sellers are advertising. If you look at the pics and the grip in particular, you'll see a lot are P-S models with the shorter, compact barrel. The actual P-Carry model is a P-F frame. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    • @ColtCommanderdm
      @ColtCommanderdm 9 лет назад

      darink300zx You are 100% correct. I really think many retailers do not know the difference between the two frames. Once you know what to look for (side of frame where front locking block/frame rails are located is quite different in appearance), plus there is the P-S or P-F marking on the bottom of the left grip (as you both pointed to and described in your video).
      I'm sure many people are very confused with the compact "large frame" vs. the compact "small frame" (Pavona) that EAA imports from Tanfoglio also.
      When EAA issued the statement on their site that certain models only used the pre 2005 magazines they only made it more confusing because I'm sure many people then assumed they wanted the newer model (even though many probably preferred the smaller "old frame" that uses the standard CZ 75 magazine).
      Anyway, I really appreciate the fact you cleared up an issue that has many people confused (and it doesn't need to be if a person knows what to look for).
      BTW, you have a nice channel.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  9 лет назад

      ColtCommanderdm Yup, I never know how to describe that area on the side of the frame, but it's definitely beefier on the PF frames than the PS frames. Thanks again for the kind words, I do appreciate it.

  • @edmak1349
    @edmak1349 7 лет назад

    when you look at the edge of the frame and the rail on the slide at the very far end it should be even. mine angles down slightly so does my buddies witness. these are brand new guns. I've noticed that slight imperfection on the m&p series. it's cosmetic and like you said does not affect function but it catches my eye. maybe I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Overall I'm happy with it for the money paid $279 and its been boringly reliable and accurate!

  • @RETUSAF1995

    Shot about 200 rounds, boy is this gun fun to shoot. I have a Pico and this gun is alot more fun to shoot. 9mm rounds are cheaper too. Double action is like the Pico 12-13 pounds but single action is about 5 pounds. The gun is very accurate with little recoil.
    The magazine that came with the gun has a red follower but the new one i ordered has a black one and no rubber butt plate (part#101900). EAA has them for $4.50 plus shipping. Looking for a holster, maybe for laser too?

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  9 лет назад +1

      RETUSAF1995 Yes, very fun gun to shoot. If you look for the 22 conversion for it, it gets even cheaper too, it's EAA part 109910, budsgunshop has them right now for $142.
      I don't have a holster for this gun, but I'm sure if you look around someone makes one. It is also known as the Tanfogilio force I believe.

      @ FUBUH8R - I recently purchased this pistol also and noticed that it shot about 3" low at 10 yards and about 12" low at 20yards. I was using 115gr ammo. I also took my Taurus PT92 AFS and my Ruger SR9c and shot the same ammo. They performed flawlessly. I was shocked to see the drop this pistol had with 115gr ammo. I figured it had to be manufactured for 124gr ammo or something. I haven't been able to find any locally yet but still looking. I hope that is indeed the case because I purchased this as my backup gun for IDPA. I emailed EAA but they haven't responded. I looked in the manual to see if it was indeed made for 124gr ammo but didn't see anything in there either. Thanks for posting Fubuh8r, you are the only person I've found that addressed this issue.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  9 лет назад +1

      Henry Taylor I hope you get a resolution to this. Hopefully the 124g will work. Not saying it's you by any means, but be sure and bench rest it to take out any chance it is you. I notice with a lot of new guns for me, I shoot off until I get used to it. EAA can be difficult to work with, my guess is they'll ask you to send it in to them so they can see if the sights need adjustment. Even though the witnesses have a lifetime warranty EAA does expect you to pay shipping to and from them. BS. Good luck man.

    • @dudeonthesaxophone3578
      @dudeonthesaxophone3578 9 лет назад +1

      darink300zx - Thanks for the feedback! Ironically, the 123 grain ammo (not 124 grain that I was looking for) performed sporadically better. It didn't shoot as low at 10 and 20yards. It was about half as low but, it was inconsistent both from bench rest and free-hand. I've decided to wait until I get at least 200+ rounds through it to see if it just needs a thorough breaking-in. EAA still hasn't responded to my inquiry and that's disappointing to say the least. Maybe I was expecting too much from this lower-end model because of the excellent performance straight out of the box by the .45cal Witness Elite Stock II I purchased a couple of months ago! I will post one more time after a couple of hundred rounds have passed through it. Thanks again, and safe shooting!!!

      @darink300zx  9 лет назад +1

      Henry Taylor Nice, a stock II, don't get me wrong, the PS witness is a good bargain gun, but the stock II is a great gun, you have good taste.

    I have the same exact model, bought it from Buds (999044). Thanks for explaining that it is a small frame and the meaning of PS. Question: When buying a conversion kit to either 40S&W or 22LR Caliber, is our gun a "standard"? I mean they also have compact and longslide which I believe to be too short and too long respectively. I will look to try and find a deal on 22LR. Also, are there longer barrel kits available for this model? Say a 6 incher in any caliber? Now, that would be fun! Last but not least, which forum are you a member of? Thanks! PS: I love the way it shoots! The guys at the gun shop/range congratulated me on such a bargain ($300), CZs and Glocks got nothing on my PS!

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад +1

      For conversion kits, ours is the standard length, full size. They do have compact length and longer length conversions, but I'm not sure of the part numbers, a call to EAA with your serial number is the best bet on getting that. I do believe that the part number for the 22 conversion for the PS is 109910 though.
      I'm a member of the "All Tangfoglio and Witness forum", I'll put a link in the description above. It's a great forum for witness and Tangfoglio owners. Pretty much all I learned about them I learned from there.

    I would like one with a 22TCM conversion. If I have to I’ll buy the 22TCM without the conversion. I already have 2-9mm pistols, don’t really need a 3rd one but it it was sold as a 2 caliber gun I’d buy it for sure. I think the only way it comes is in the 22TCM. I’ll be calling my local gun dealer later today. I have always liked the CZ handguns, however I have never owned one.

    Hello, question Tanfoglio Witness P Full Size, by EAA, 9MM is this a good fire arm for concealed carry? Thanks

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  6 лет назад +1

      Mr Carpet Man it can be, just depends on what you are comfortable with. It's a full size handgun and despite it being polymer framed, it is somewhat heavy for CC. The preferred method to carry would be condition one, round chambered, hammer back, safety on, so you'd have to get comfortable doing that as well. People CC 1911's like this all the time so it would be the same for this gun. I don't CC mine as I have smaller, lighter pistols for that role. This is my nightstand gun though because it has never jammed on me.

Something else if you do get it fully loaded, leave it like that overnight or longer and it may lessen the effort to load it next time. Hi saw your last video of the cz 75 an Tanfoglio witness. Excellent review. I noticed you point out a few common characteristics of the Witness. I have the newer black follower K40 magazines. Witness P 40 cal. All factory. Can fit 15 rounds after breaking in mag springs, but still have difficulty having magazine latch catch magazine in mag well unless I forcefully slam it in on 15th round. 14 rounds it catches no problem. Are the new mag springs too stiff and have you experienced such issues such as the 15th round slamming against the slide? Came here searching for tips for extractor tuning for the witness. Been noticing on blazer aluminum 40 cal cartridges there is significant marring on the rim of the cartridge and marks on top of cartridge. Is this common with aluminum ammo on the Witness extractor? Have you experienced any of these characteristics with the Witness P 40? BTW I know what you mean about the trigger bite in the 40 cal. Quite snappy.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад

      Thanks for the comment. I haven't had any issues with the 40 cal mags I have, but mine are the small frame so only hold 12 rounds. You may want to try sanding the baseplate down some so that the magazine will seat further in the well, if that makes sense. I've had that issue come up with some large frame witness match magazines I have in 9mm. They'll catch, but only if I really slam them home. I took the baseplate off, sanded it where it touches the bottom of the mag and now they go in much easier.
      I haven't noticed any marring of the rim or marks on the cartridge with any aluminum ammo I've shot, but then I didn't go looking for the shell casings either. I've never read of that being an issue either though.
      Thanks again for the comment and for watching.

    What's a good source for Witness small frame conversions? EAA charges over $400 which is more then I paid for my Witness. I was considering buying a P S for $260 so I could have a 40 conversion for my EA9B small frame Witness. I would also like to get a compact slide and it would be nice if the conversions had a removable front sight or some of the other options found in the higher end Witnesses

    • @darink300zx

      Yeah, I can't help you much there. I guess it was 2 or 3 years ago that EAA just out of the blue upped the prices on their conversion kits. They used to range from 200-350 dollars for a conversion kit, now they are (in some cases) more expensive than just buying another gun. They used to have a wider distribution of them too. They used to be on MidwayUSA and other online gun parts shops, but now about the only ones you see are the 22 conversion kits.
      It almost seems like they are trying to get out of the conversion kit game or something. Not real sure what's going on there. Your idea should work as far as getting a PS in 40 and using that slide on the EA9b. They are both small frame. You may want to try joining some tanfoglio and CZ forums and check their for sale threads. I picked up a 40 conversion kit (minus any mags) for 150 bucks a couple years ago. Obviously those deals only come along occasionally, but can't hurt to join up. I'm a member of CZfirearms.us forum that has a good CZ clone sub-forum and I'm a member of TZ75manforum which is all dedicated to the tanfoglio guns.
      Anyway, good luck in your search and thanks for watching.

    P-s frames can also take cz magazines with no problems. They take the cz 75 & 85 mags an also Baby eagle ll. All their mags interchange with one another. I run cz pro mags in both my cz 75 07 duty and my witness carry. And they even run in my cousin's desert eagle. All chambered in 9mm.

      I haven't tried it, but I've heard of people using fobus holsters that are made for the sig 226, such as the model 21nd paddle holster, for this gun. Like I said, I haven't tried it. When I have holstered this gun, I've just used a generic cloth holster with strap retention.

    I love those guns but under stress I have tried to manipulate them, although I have small hands I can not engage and manipulate the slide for tac reloads effectively enough to warrant purchasing another, damn slide is just to small.

    I have this gun, its definitely 15+1. I dont know where you got 16 but thats not very possible given the magazine

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад

      Actually, it is very possible. I just did it. When I saw your post, I thought, maybe I misstated in the video, so I went and double checked. I loaded up 16 rounds in one of the mags. Either you have different magazines or you aren't pressing hard enough to get that last round in. I'll admit it takes some effort for rounds 15 and 16, but mine do hold 16. All my magazines are the red follower ones from EAA.

    • @pfortyseven
      @pfortyseven 10 лет назад

      Mine has a red follower. My gun registration says 15.... Stand by while I cram one of these in here

    • @pfortyseven
      @pfortyseven 10 лет назад

      Okay so I'm shocked..... You were right. This means the registration I got from the gun shop was incorrect and so is my registration with the state of MI.. What do I do?

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  10 лет назад

      Jordan Johnson Okay, I don't know what to tell you. So you're saying your gun is actually registered with the state of MI? I suppose you could go back to where you bought it and ask them about it. You may want to see if you can find some CZ75 magazines that are only 15 rounders. I'm pretty sure mecgar makes some 15 round ones that are for the CZ75. Since this gun is a small frame witness it should take CZ75 magazines just fine. Something to add though is that my CZ75 magazines fit and function in my PS, but one or two of them won't hold the slide open when the last round is fired.

    • @SirAsylus89
      @SirAsylus89 9 лет назад

      darink300zx so, not to be sounding like a broken record but the witness p-s CAN use the CZ75 magazine?

  • @edmak1349
    @edmak1349 7 лет назад +1

    does your frame line up properly with the frame? mine looks a little off towards the end much like what I see with the M&Ps. I have a buddy who also bought a witness p-s and has the same problem.

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean, but the slide/frame line up fine on mine. I also have another PS with the OD green frame and it's the same as this one. When I put the 22 conversion on however, the slide does not line up perfectly with the frame, but it doesn't affect function.

    • @edmak1349
      @edmak1349 7 лет назад

      I guess it's just cosmetic. I'll try to live with it. Gun shoots fine. Look how the frame fits snug at the back and the slide serrations...see how it opens up at the front?

      @darink300zx  7 лет назад

      Ed Mak I couldn't open either of the links. I think I understand now though. Keep in mind it is only cosmetic because the slide actually rides on the metal inserts in the frame anyway, not the polymer "rails" on the frame. Does that make sense? When I get home I am going to look at mine more closely and see if mine does what you're talking about.

    • @edmak1349
      @edmak1349 7 лет назад

      Yes you are correct the slide rides on those rails not the plastic frame. It's really cosmetic but it catches the eye when you look at the pistol closely. I sent pictures but I guess it won't work with RUclips. Thanks.

    P-S is for Polymer Small. The Full frame #999104 reads P-F for Polymer Full

    • @darink300zx
      @darink300zx  6 лет назад +1

      Mikey Lee I’ve addressed this in other comments below. Although p-f does probably refer to full size, p-s does indeed refer to polymer -special, at least according to the EAA rep I spoke with. Look at it this way also, why would they refer to the large frame model as p-f, if the small frame is p-s, shouldn’t the large frame be P-L? Anyway, look at some of the older comments where I go into this further.

      +darink300zx ok tyvm. just bought the witness and was looking for a laser for it. wanted something a little understated, almost hidden. also, www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/eaa-tanfoglio-witness-polymer-semi-automatic-9mm-45-barrel-16-rounds?a=1835711 is a much better price for the weapon.

      Yeah, they've fluctuated in price the past 3 or 4 years. I paid a little over 300 when I got mine, but I've seen them as low as 250 since then. They are definitely a high value firearm.

      For the mag to be legal in NY, it must be staked or some kind of permanent limiter so it can only accept 10 rounds. Using a 16 round mag and saying you're only loading it with 10 rounds is not acceptable under the NY law. Hard as it is to believe, mere possession of a 16 round capable magazine is illegal as the law is written.

    Great video with lots of good information. You can also find the magazines at www.cdnnsports.com The EAA website does not have the mags and they are expensive there. I really appreciate the great info. By the way, Sportsman Guide is selling this gun for $265.00 and you can use the option of 4 flex payments. They will ship the gun to you on the first payment. • @darink300zx

      socc69 well, most assume the s stands for small frame, but according to EAA, it stands for special, as in poly-special. I contacted them about this after making this video because I could never get a definitive answer about it. It is a small frame witness though, which is I'm sure what led to the confusion.

    • @socc6991

      Oh, sure thing, really the best deal for these are the Mecgar mags for the cz75b. They come in 17 round and 19 round (with an extended baseplate) and they work great in these. The 17 rounders are usually less expensive than the ones from EAA.

    • @socc6991
      @socc6991 7 лет назад +2

      That's what I purchased. They are cheaper and in my opinion work better than the mags from EAA. I was on the verge of selling the gun before I purchased the Mec-Gar mags. I really feel lucky. a full size 9mm that is very accurate and shoots great for $229 !!!
