  • This is the same video that has been available here before. The old version's sound is no longer in sync, but RUclips does not provide a means to replace the old version. This copy has properly synced sound. If you have linked to the old version in your web site, please update the link to this corrected version. Eventually, the old version will be deleted - we do not wish to take it down now and possibly break your link.

These are great videos...if we always had to go out and rebuild valves on new fire hydrants. Gives you a generalization but most are not really this easy after 15 to 20 years of rust build up.

What tool did they use in this video to take off that top nut? Our pipe wrenches are stripping the nut because how old it is.

How do I get the entire valve? I have a Mueller fire hydrant with no seal on it.

Does this work when extentions are installed?

This procedure can work with hydrant extensions installed. However, depending on the bury depth of the hydrant and length of the extension, a different seat removal tool may be required.
