When I pulled the lever for the horn, it almost gave me a heart attack, & I felt it skip a beat. This was when I was 14. That was the best day of my entire life.

That giggle and smile at 1:26 is what it's all about. I remember the first time I got to be in the cab of a locomotive. I wasn't much older than he is here. I didn't get to blow the horn or anything because the locomotive wasn't running at the time. But over 30 years later I got to operate a switcher for a minute or two, including an opportunity to hit the horn a few times. And I was all smiles, too. :)
Then you only qualify for a brakeman to start off with and later on write more exams to become a train engineer and you then also ride in the cab with qualified engineer starting out to learn on the job, and that's the truth, It's not easy as it looks.
