I wonder how many people developed problems after the war with their being around Asbestos, many literally covered in it. I grew up with the U.S. Air Force, complete 60's, mid 70's and it was just recent in history that they stopped it's use
Was thinking the same thing… ‘The dept of vet affairs has determined your mesothelioma was not caused by your destroyer made of asbestos being literally vaporized by Japanese 18” shells while you were inside. Claim denied’
Americans thought the hit on the cruiser Chokai exploded a torpedo but when the wreck was discovered the torpedo tubes were all intact. So whatever ever it was the caused the large explosion that doomed her was not a hit on a torpedo. Makes me wonders what it could have been.
Once the Americans destroyed all of the newest shiny ships and aircraft, the Japanese had to use their Goodwill looking equipment Rust and all. The Japanese would sputter up with their ragged out ship and the Navy Sailors would have a loud Horse Laugh.
