- On June 11th 1968 Paul McCartney was in Abbey Road Studio 2 with then girlfriend Francie Schwartz running through 2 acoustic songs for The White Album.
This rare footage shows him recording these classic tracks.
On a summer morning in May 1971 a homeless man arrived at the gates of John Lennon’s Ascot home while the Beatle was recording his 2nd solo album Imagine.
This is the story about one man’s quest for meaning, his love of The Beatles what prompted him to visit Tittenhurst Park moment and where it would lead him.

Paul McCartney with Francie Schwartz on June 11th 1968 running through 2 acoustic songs for The White Album.
And nine days later he’s ringing up Linda in New York.
Jane Asher caught Paul in bed with Francie when Jane was dating Paul.
Wasn’t she the one Jane Asher found in bed with him that ended his (already rocky) relationship with Jane?
Yes!@@ellenh9381

The best of the best! “I’m in awe of Paul McCartney,” Dylan told Rolling Stone in 2007. “He’s about the only one that I am in awe of. But I’m in awe of him. He can do it all and he’s never let up, you know. He’s got the gift for melody, he’s got the rhythm. He can play any instrument. He can scream and shout as good as anybody and he can sing the ballad as good as anybody, you know so … And his melodies are, you know, effortless. That’s what you have to be in awe … I’m in awe of him maybe just because he’s just so damn effortless.”
So I guess Bob' was telling us he was in 'awe'?
They ALL fear the power of William

Good name for a McCartney song…awe
I've been lucky to see live in Concert a few times & and he is just absolutely amazing. ❤
The genius of McCartney was he could create a beautiful melody and make it seem effortless.
So could lots of other musicians
@@carltroia6235 But none so often and with such brilliance
And do a bunch of other musical things.
And his voice on top of it. All 3 had unique voices but Paul has the most pleasant imo.

When Paul was just a creative force of nature here. This is arguably his best time musically - an output that might never be rivalled in popular music.

The India trip was one of the most creatively fruitful periods of the Beatles
Writing masterpieces with such nonchalance. Like he's chewing gum... Oh, Paul !!! 🤩
Exactly! I hate him! 😀
Mother Nature's Son is a lot less further along than I would have expected. I thought he'd written the lyrics in India. Here, he barely has anything.
@@KieopI was thinking the same thing. In fact, isn't there something of him doing that there (in the Anthology)? And he certainly said he wrote it there.
I'll be seeing Paul in about 2 weeks' time - it's hard to comprehend that I will finally actually be in the same space as the beautiful young genius in this clip. Apart from my family, I don't think there is a person on earth who means more to me or who has fed my soul the way he has.
My girfriend had never seen him before and when he came out on stage she began weeping. The lady to her right looked over and said....."Awww - it must be your first time.!" I had almost the same reaction when I met him working on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions in Cleveland when Paul was on the show to induct Ringo as a solo artist. I'm never starstruck since I work on lots of Live TV events and Awards Shows - but meeting Paul was one time where I almost lost my mind. The complexion of the atmosphere changes in a room when he walks into it. It's very powerful and captivating. And of course he was a gracious as could be and acted like a little kid in a playground - all bouncy, jubilant and full of life and excitement. He truly loves being who he is and I don't mean that in a snobby or conceited way. He just loves making music and thank god for that. His joy has changed the world and has changed me and made me a musician. Enjoy it all and soak it in. Not sure how much more touring he'll be doing.
This is something I think to myself all the time. What a beautiful way to put it. Apart from my mother and father, I don’t think anybody in this world has had as much of an influence on my emotional development. And to think that he has had that effect on millions of people, but still, what an honor it would be to share the same space as him, even for one single event. I saw him about 5 years ago, and that’s how I felt. Hope you have a wonderful time!
I was lucky enough to attent to three shows of this pure genius!!!
Love the way you put that "fed my soul the way he has' - that's EXACTLY how I feel. Inexplicably, the fact that McCartney exists at all raises the bar for humanity's potential.
Thanks Paul!! Do it again!!
It's so nice to see him like this. Perfectly humble. Almost childlike and patient with himself. Good on him.
That look on Francie’s face is just priceless. She had a front row seat on a creation that may well last for ever.

Thank you for posting this video. Never seen it before. One cannot overestimate the importance of this young man and of his three Beatles mates in the lives of those who were young then and who loved them. The Beatles were so much more than a band but their music and their personalities shaped a whole generation. A gift from God, once said Tom Petty. I am grateful they were there when I was a teenager searching for truth and meaning.

I’m so jealous I wasn’t alive! Fortunately, I grew up in a Beatles-loving family 💙
I'm 70 and Paul is 80. I lived those times and the Beatles were part of the soundtrack
Whenever I am feeling down I turn to The Beatles. How many lives they have saved will never be known, be assured it’s many.
Here in America, the Beatles changed music, fashion and culture in six short years. It’s truly amazing.
Mother Nature's Son is a beautiful and underrated McCartney song.
I like it much more than Blackbird

I remember another Mother Natures Son, John Denver made a version of the song.
Some of his v best work I think, timeless👍
my favorite beatles song
Paul in his prime playing Blackbird and Mother Natures Son on acoustic? This should be a world heritage video. Show it to aliens or whatever.
Mccartney '68/'69 is as cool as it gets ....he was at the peak of his powers his voice was perfection he could sing any genre at will
I agree at his finest vocally, like you say 68 and 69 👌
His voice is incredible in this.
@trevorsmith7753 he dosent even sound like the same guy anymore ,yet someone like Justin Hayward live and a similar age still sounds like the old moody blues recordings
McCartneys voice hasn’t held up well ,I don’t like much of his stuff after about 1974 he just didn’t sound the same towards the end of wings and his solo career as he did with the Beatles and his first solo albums
Find someone who looks at you the way Francie looks at Paul here
That look is two sided. Yes, she’s taken in, but she’s also trying to bait Paul.
Indeed..there's ❤in her eyes.. beautifully captured moments.
Nah she was in for the fame, jane on the other hand, you can see the love in her eyes
Like a meal ticket?😂😂
What made Paul leave Francie for Linda? Was she missing that something or Linda is (or was) simply too much for any other girl?
It’s like watching Mozart composing. Incredible footage.
😂😂😂😂😂
But better!
It's intresting to see him create songs..he was definitely at a peak during this time period...such a genius !
So Yoko wasn't the only woman who sat in the studio with the boys.
The more time passes, the more moving it becomes to see such footages.
The white album at Christmas 68, I was sixteen. Heartbreaking.
Why heartbreaking... Joyfully reminiscent more likely... For me at least who was also 16 at that time... The memories are precious...
Cape Town - South Africa... So much going on politically... Peter Raggett at UCT and his brothers John and Mick and sister-in-law, Lynn always being a hoot - laughter abounded in full measure....
The White Album was my favourite... These two songs in particular...
Was watching a Macca concert on the BBC last week, he didn't even play _Blackbird_ (or _Yesterday_ ) . Imagine having songs like that and not feeling you have to do them at every concert! Nobody else has that strength in depth of songwriting - nobody.
You haven't heard Boy georges catalog then.

Stevie Wonder has.
Sadly he can’t really sing those anymore. He has failed to protect his vocal chords over the last 35 years and it shows.
Francie is mesmerised here.
This is extraordinary footage.
The Beatles are the gift that keeps on giving.
I play acoustic guitar, but you wouldn’t believe how hard a song it is to play as mother nature son McCartney far away was the best instrumental in the Beatles
Is not too hard, maybe some hard to remember chord positions and changes if you are not used to them, but if its teached correctly, is very easy!
In white album, George's part in dear prudence is hard, he picked a bass line in the 4th, 5th, and 6th, and at the same time he did a wicked melody in the first strings with interruptions without messing his upper bass
I'm not very good at acoustic, but mother nature son is not very hard for me because the chord changes usually only need to move one or two fingers or only need to change the position on the fret board, haha, the beatles acoustic part is usually not very hard, even beginners can learn guadually, that's why I finally got into them.
@@Miggcroix I thought it's John haha. But yes this one is harder for me because I need to stretch my fingers as much as possible in some parts.
@heero17v83 I didn't mean John's clean arpeggios all-through the song, that's relatively easy. I meant George's distorted SG that appears later. He kept a steady bass and from time to time, did some high licks not interrupting the bass
That girl is definitely head over heels.
who wouldn't
Magical brilliant beautiful Paul McCartney
I find it so beautiful to watch and experience the feeling of people in their creative element and living their soul's purpose. ❤❤
This is so lovely. 🌻🪻🌷🌼⚘️
One thing that was so special about Paul and the Beatles is they could come in with a very ruff and unfinished sounding part or song. but they always seemed to know where they wanted to end up with the song. they understood what was working and what wasn't working. and what was there but also what was missing. and in the end they always got the song to where it ended up polished and great. I have always believed that the difference between great writers and good or so so writers is having a vision of the level you expect the song to be at. and knowing when it has not reached that level yet. and knowing what is missing in order to bring the song to the next level. even if its just a guitar and vocals song like Black Bird. Paul just kept fine tuning it until it became a masterpiece. and a average writer gets a song to be pretty good. and they are happy with pretty good. because they can't really see what is missing from it to make it great. or what could be done at all to bring it to being very good instead of pretty good. but Paul in his prime was like a conduit where ideas were just flowing and his genius was just coming out of him at such a high level.
Intuitive visionaries, perhaps? They sure had an amazing process - even Paul said years later that their writing sessions ALWAYS produced something useful.
yeah great writters don't stay with the 1st option unless it's great... they keep looking and looking, and some times, the song has a hidden gold, and some times not.
@@carlostejada1479 Very true - and beautifully put. One of my favourite experiences is when you put a little extra onto something and it makes ALL the difference and you begin to get the sense of how good something might be if you continue to shape and develop it. Ah, for just the faintest sniff of GREAT potential - when you know you're on the end of making a song that's better than all of your others.
Considering his genius, Paul’s XM Beatles channel jingle is a bit disappointing.
@@richmackey8810 It is a hallmark of even confirmed geniuses (whatever that really means!) that even they can can an off day - or to put that a little differently they can have a bad moment in terms of not recognising when work they have done is not up to par. Songwriters who have been around a LONG time and produced a large body of work generally reveal this truth a in assessing their work we have to take the good with the bad - or just less good. Many critics have done this over the years with writers like Dylan, and the Beatles but it is also evident in the work of Neil Young, Paul Simon, Joni M, as well as Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Springsteen John Mellencamp and Bruce Cockburn - who I consider to be all excellent songwriters. Nutshell: almost every album has one or two filler tracks which is symptomatic to eh processes used to create them.
Truly outstanding writing typically requires time and inspiration - and it's not that often both commodities are available at the same time.
Uma das canções mais lindas dos Beatles. Paul McCartney é um compositor, cantor e músico excepcional.
Well now we know who Paul was talking with in the White Album outtake of Blackbird
Thanks for posting this! I have never seen it before. It is amazing to me how well the Beatles LIVED with their songs, allowing themselves time to polish and refine them. He is actually using this girl as a muse and as an audience, and Lennon and Martin as well. They followed John’s idea to put in a brass section for the song- a brilliant idea, just right- although it is not something I would have thought of.
It is hard to describe how much and why I love those guys so much. I think I know them. I think that they are my brothers, my older brothers, but obviously they are not. They just opened so much music and joy. For me. when I was just a kid. But it was art that came straight from the heart and soul. As a young person I got to experience incredibly meaningful art, and the joy that comes from music at such a high level. I was only a kid, but no other artists. could approach what they did. Like these guys are in my heart, and in my bones in my skin. That’s a poetic way of saying that they are foundational to my personality. I needed something to start building myself in there they were providing me with emotions and rhythms : lots of sharing and caring. Even though I don’t really know who they are at all, I still am very grateful for the gift that they gave me. Thanks, lads!
Yes, they are in my skin, in my bones, my brain and my heart, deeply. And have been for over 50 years! ❤❤
This is the perfect traduction. I just lived the same as a kid. They saved and gave me the direction of my life, the reason why and what I wanted to live, wanted to be.
They are my Family.
When everything is bad, you listen to The Beatles and they bring you back to a beautiful place where you find peace and joy.
And when everything is good and you are happy, they are there too, to accompany you and celebrate that moment with you.

This is the beat way I like to remember the Beatles the best when they were young, I was 5 years old when my oldest brother got The WHITE ALBUM for Xmas 1968, I remember opening up or toys then my brother found the album last behind the tree, my two older brothers ran in the bed room to listen to it and made sure they locked the door so I could not get in, no problem I just sat outside the door and rocked back and forth to all the new great songs on the album, got it was the best time to be alive- 5 years old and already a Beatles freak- little did I know that just in a year another band would come into my life as one of my brothers would bring home a new band and new album- up until then only Beatles albums we had , many single of other bands but NO albums until Stand Up. by Jethro Tull came into our lives, The Beatles and Tull still my favorite of all the bands I love. and I love many

Sure Lennon & McCartney were musical geniuses, but I read a recent online poll that placed Taylor Swift as a better songwriter than Bob Dylan, Lennon McCartney, and Paul Simon combined . . . so maybe The Beatles weren't as great when compared to the genius songwriters of today? Sorry I couldn't actually finish writing that without laughing out loud.

That's nothing - yesterday I saw a Taylor Swift concert and a football game broke out before she could sing.

Coincidentally, ‘schwartz’ is German for black and she was Paul’s bird at the time.

Great video. Also, if I'm not mistaken, it was his affair with Francie Schwartz that was the final nail in the coffin for his relationship with Jane
Correct, and remember Paul had met Linda the previous year in New York, and she was at the 1967 Sgt Peppers launch party at Brian's place!
Rare is right..never saw this.. this video is a GEM. This 3 minutes means more to me than the entire catalog of GenZ 'artists"
How could Francie just sit there and not lose her composure. I know this will sound bizarre and maybe even a little inappropriate, especially coming from a man, but if I were a woman sitting there I'm not sure I'd know what to do with myself. Holy crap. One of the most creative and desirable men on the planet at that time......she's comporting herself very nicely. I wonder if she's still with us these days and wonder what she thinks looking at this.
Ok, I cried through this whole damn thing 😩🤩🫶🏽
Paul had four women on the go at this time and his break up with Jane seemed deliberate to me. 1968 was a tough year for him as he could see the band he loved more than anything, start to fall apart and the Apple fiasco wasn't helping either. Read Francie's book and you'll see he was really struggling with everthing except music.
Agree
But I must admit, although I have other preferences on subject matter, Paul has a special place in my little world of music for his style, and what a beautiful voice, harmonies, and composition.
He's holding his guitar upside down again. He sure doesn't know much about music. How will he ever make a living?!

Paul called her Frannie. We were friends for a time in the early Nineties. I was living in the Bay Area and she was in Cambria. She invited me to visit but I never made it over there. She had a nice run during the White Album time, fit snugly between Maggie and Linda. She was funny and witty and talked about the atmosphere of pure creativity in those times.
Tomorrow never knows, I am the walrus, A day in the life, Instant karma são obras de um gênio absoluto.

Best sense of melody that I've ever seen.
Wow. Never seen Francie on film. Outsiders, wives, girlfriends, etc were never allowed into the studio so I imagine Paul was making a point after John virtually installed Yoko into their workspace.

McCartney was such an incredible melodic master. He's wrote so many classic songs it's breathtaking. I love the Beatles and Lennon is my favourite songwriter. His songs on Rubber Soul, Revolver, Rain, Strawberry Field's Forever, his incredible melody and verses for A Day In The Life are beautifully sad, and when Paul got involved with what John had brought in it became a masterpiece. The greatest track ever imo.
I Am The Walrus is another mighty Lennon classic.
I love all the Beatles and the solo work that John, Paul and George created. Also, Ringo's classic 1973 self titled album and Goodnight Vienna. Love how each Beatle helped Ringo for those albums and especially the Ringo album which is a great listen and it makes me feel better. It's like a semi Beatles album with Ringo singing vocals. 😊✌️🙏

John suggested the brass band!! Incredible.
John's edited audio : " Hey Paul! WTF is a GIRL doing in the studio while we're recording??? Is that how its gonna be from now on? Right then.. Wait til you see who I bring in tomorrow"...
Then, Linda Eastman, Peggy Lipton and, Jane Asher showed up and it was “Helter Skelter”‼️🆘 😂
