    I was one year off on the cupholder redesign. As I mentioned, the New Edge update/refresh occurred in ‘99 but the cupholder redesign actually occurred in ‘98.😬

      I was actually about to comment that but I read this as I started typing lol. I have a 98 gt same color as your cobra and it has the black on black interior with the new edge cup holders which are essentially useless if you have a 5 speed cause 2 and 4th shifts are impeded by your drink

    Call it a quirk if you want, I LIKE my hood’s prop rod. I had two Firebirds with heavy hoods, and piston supports that wore out. A prop rod may be old-fashioned and somewhat awkward, but it will never wear out.

    • @jordanfox7070
      @jordanfox7070 2 года назад +3

      Yeah, 09 Challenger’s hood was HEAVY and I wouldn’t trust working underneath it if it had no prop rod and relied on only piston supports.

    • @geraldscott4302
      @geraldscott4302 2 года назад +2

      I agree. My transportation car is a 2006 Crown Vic, with lift supports. Wanna know how it feels to get hit in the head with a 200 pound hood? I now carry a piece of pipe in the trunk to hold the hood open.

    • @dakota5041

      Prop rods save on concussions 🤕😅 had many shocks fail randomly when I put too much faith in them.... Rams are terrible for false hopes

    • @omary5439
      @omary5439 Год назад +2

      I actually added prop supports to my s&95 but I saw no reason to remove the prop rod so I actually have both. I can use the struts all the time but if they start to wear out I can just use the prop rod instead since I keep it as a backup

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk Год назад +1

      Agreed. The trunk uses lift supports and I’ve hurt myself so many times! They only last a decade, so I had to replace them in 2004, and then again in 2014. 2024 is approaching, and Im wondering if I should just give in and buy them first of the year, rather than wait for another head injury.

    Just turned 29- thousand miles on my 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible.
    Mine is black with the saddle leather interior.
    Driver seat has hairline cracks in the leather but overall it still smells like a new car inside. The carpeting in the car still looks brand new along with the headlights. I think your car still looks great and you’ve done a good job on the interior and the paint. Took it out yesterday for a long ride in the country and the car still has the original hoses spark plug wires.
    I paid 12-K for the car and I was offered 18-K for the car. I’m gonna keep it drive it and enjoy it along with my 2010 Camaro RS -SS .

    That fuel cutoff switch is a really good safety feature. I got rear ended one time and when I went to start the car it wouldn't turn over. One of the cops came over and told me to pop the trunk and check to see if the cutoff switch activated. It did. I hit the button amd the car was able to turn over . I thought that was pretty neat.

    The side scoops on my 95 are “functional”. They’re open but don’t necessarily go to anything like the brakes. The cup holder on the 95 doesn’t have that bottom support so you can place longer cans or cups (skinny lol). My 95 only has 2 o2 sensors. Cool video 👍🏼

    I honestly am glad the hood doesn’t have lift supports. I had a 1988 BMW 325i convertible before getting my mustang, and it used lift supports for everything. The hood, the trunk, the convertible boot, which needed to stay open for you to manually put up/down the top. Those supports only last a decade, so they were pretty much shot by the time I got the car. My 94 mustang however, I have hurt myself so many times from when the trunk lid would fall on my head. Every decade I have to replace them. 2004, 2014, and now I’m worried about next year when I’ll have to do it yet again! Thank goodness it’s just the trunk!

    My 03 GT is getting a suspension revamp right now, everything. We put hood struts on all of them (07, 03, 16 & 20). We went with the Borla Ataks and it is a sound I love, especially when he gets warmed up. The seat belts not retracting is a pain. I find the steering wheel is angled wrong too. I added a clutch extender pedal because I felt like I had to sit too close to the wheel to shift. The seats aren't very good, you slide a bit on sharp curves. We were able to find original black leather seats that a guy had replaced with racing ones, in excellent condition! I love Rasputin more than my 2020 GT, something about it being more mechanical and old school...idk

    The '94 to 98 cars are my favorite SN95 Mustang, esp the '96 to '98 cars. Ford botched the design of the '99 to '03 Mustangs IMHO. Regarding the tiny rear seats, that's a compromise to make the car affordable to insure. Many insurance companies (then as well as now) charge astronomical amounts for two seater specialty cars, regardless of size. Most finance companies require carrying full coverage in case of an accident to protect their investment (the car) in case it gets totaled in a wreck. If you need a larger rear seat, get a Fox T-bird/Cougar ('83 to '88) or the later '89 to '97 T-bird/Cougar (bigger car but also larger rear seat), or better yet, a Panther body (Crown VIc/Mercury Grand Marquis/Lincoln Town Car). The Cobra R model Mustangs all had a rear seat delete.

      How do you define functional? Actively feeding air to the engine and brakes or just air passing through?

    I bought a 96' Cobra this year w/ 84k miles. It came w/ original Hinodex 95' Cobra R wheels, the tires have a DOT date from 2003 (yikes!). I love cars & pizza too...nom nom

    actually, the vents on the hood of the cobra are functional... they are simply cool air intakes... for the engine bay.. check em out close, they are open... they are useless but they are functional.

    I saw a black Cobra in my parking lot and brought me to these sorts of videos lol. Cobras are the ones to have I think, that DOHC 4.6 makes for a fast car. Ford could’ve put the lesser powered 285hp version from the Lincoln mark 8s in the GTs.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 8 месяцев назад

      I think they should have put the cobras engine in the gt and a 5.4 like thr 2000 r got in regular cobras. That would have messed up gm even with their ls1s.

    • @B1Springfield
      @B1Springfield 8 месяцев назад

      @@midnight347 I’ve thought about that too, but it wasn’t until 1999 that the cobra r setup was developed, and it was a lot of one off parts. In 2003 we got the terminator. Going off what was available at the times, 1996-98 GT with the 285hp intech, Cobra with the 305hp. Ford was working on supercharged power with the Super Stallion sn95. Maybe an introduction of the supercharged cobra with the new edge in 1999, as the SVT lightning had the 5.4 2v SC in 1999. And the Mach one could’ve been the spin off of a 4v 5.4 with production versions of the cobra R parts with maybe around 350-360hp to sit between the GT and terminator Cobra.

    To be fair lift supports cost like 100 to 200 bucks its not a deal breaker. Ford always left alot up to the owner to fix in the aftermarket and gave the cars to us for less, especially back then. The camaro and vette were both more expensive back then (not much has changed).
