I am very impressed by your selection. I started visiting the Chianti in 1992. In 2001 I bought an apartment in a little old farmhouse on the Felsina property. for the next 15 years, I visited and spent 2 to 3 months a year in that area. I have tasted many of the Chianti‘s of the area however you had more access in depth than I did. I do very much agree that.fontodi and ama among my favorites. However, there is much to offer all over the area. I have also eaten at lamole over the last 30 years. It has a spectacular view of the valley and the food is in incredible. In my opinion, the vino sfuzo or wine bulk wine is it true test of a winery. Further, when I go to restaurants in the area, I frequently taste that wine in order to figure out if they know what they’re doing. I also believe that a mixed grill Tuscany is a test of the kitchen kitchen Mille Grazie ted
Thanks very much, Ted! Appreciate you sharing your experiences. Very glad you enjoyed the selections! It is such a special area! That is a good tip to taste the bulk wine. A smart idea!
My wife and I just got back from Italy. We visited both Lamole di Lamole and Fattoria Pomona. They both were great. We ended up bringing some bottles home.
Tuscany is one of my favorite places to visit, too! Beautiful introduction, gorgeous captures, and excellent narratives about each of the wineries-this video is making me seriously miss Tuscany. I love that it’s based on your personal experiences and research, actually traveling to those wineries, discovering their cellars and library wines, and tasting their outstanding wines firsthand. Castello di Ama, Fontodi, Il Molino di Grace, Lamole di Lamole, and Brolio would be my top priorities from among these wineries but I would love to visit the others as well. There are so many takeaways here, and I love all the anecdotes and stories, the manual harvest scene, the fact that the Sangiovese you picked will be part of the 2024 Chianti Classico, the picturesque views and stunning captures, and the excellent production of this video. I will definitely use this as my guide for my return trip to Tuscany. Thank you, John!
@@margauxml Thanks very much Margaux! Very glad that you enjoyed the video! So many highlights, the video practically published itself! Hopefully other people will be able to enjoy some of these experiences as well. Appreciate the support and thoughtful comment as always! Cheers!
So many special new places to explore. Thanks as always for your excellent content. You've introduced me to so many great wines. We visited Chianti earlier this year and had a great experience at Castello di Fonterutoli... exceeded expectations : )
@@sbfredster Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed the video! Hopefully you will get a chance to go back and visit some of these wineries! Such a special area to visit! Also glad to hear that you had a good experience previously!
I would also recommend the Chianti Classico Institute in Radda. my friend Andrea works there. It has a beautiful view of the wineries below Rada and a good kitchen.
when you go to sienna my favorite restaurant is La bagoga. It is near the Santa Christina Cathedral. The owner is a former jockey in the Palo. In addition, they produce their own Brunello and also have an after dinner drink called.Elisir di Santa Catarina. My favorite dish there is is made with 10 pheasants. It is unique. In regards to the Vino sfuzo that is what the locals drink. The first time I tasted the van ordinaries was in 2001 in Provence. I was blown away by the dollar and two dollar wines in a cooperative. Vins du tricastin. a friend of mine who bought first growth really enjoyed them. I know you are an expert, but I have found amazing values in the wine producing areas.
@@tedgalperalper1828 That restaurant sounds terrific! I'll definitely add it to my list. Certainly sounds like you have uncovered some fantastic values! Appreciate you sharing your insights. Hopefully a number of other viewers will appreciate them as much as I do. Cheers!
What a helpful video! We are headed to Tuscany tomorrow and plan to stay in the areas of Panzano and Colle Val D’Elsa. My only concern is that our best availability for a cellar tour and tasting would be on a Sunday. Is this even possible? TIA! Also, I would love to see a place with ancient old stone cellars like the kind you imagine for Chianti!
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you have a fantastic trip! The various websites should mention the hours. Places with hospitality are more likely to be open weekends - e.g., Volpaia, Vicchiomaggio, etc. If you go to chianti classico dot com, you will find an option for "estates" that will give you a complete list of wineries. From there, you can check their hours and see what you can do. Good luck!
