If I remember correctly the P365 is almost as small as the 42, and it would save me money on ammo for training and have better terminal performance on top of it. I'm not terribly familiar with 380's benefits/weaknesses anyway.

The other one I support is a Star Wars channel with three guys in the Midwest doing their best in their spare time in an apt. where one of them lives. It's the kind of thing I want to see grow or at least continue. Likewise, Paul needs to pay for the ammo, meat target materials and other props, and all the other expenses that go into making videos like these. Since this is the best, and most valuable, channel of this type IMHO I support it with actual money. There are others that are not struggling and don't need my money to keep going, there are also others that are just not doing something SO different or important that I feel would be greatly missed if they just stopped one day. so I figure I need my money too, and maybe more than they do. Totally agree with the final concern about the P 365 in my pocket with that short crisp trigger pull. I hesitated in buying one because I didn't want that thing pointing down at my privates or someone sitting across the table from me. Apparently, a lot of other people shared this concern also, because earlier this year, I learned that the P 365 was being offered with a "manual" safety which was the final selling point for me and I bought one which I carry it in a holster with the safety "on". This requires that I practice regularly by withdrawing the pistol, flipping off the safely, aiming, and firing. So far, zero failures after firing close to 500 rounds, and the 12 + 1 capacity is a definite plus. Love this gun and have since sold my Colt Combat Commander 1911 and carry only the P 365

The recoil isn't any more than our full-sized 9mms and our groups were way, way better than with the LCP II. The P365 even fits in his pocket! Also, the P365 has a fairly light trigger pull for a more affordable striker-fired gun in my exp., and it also comes with night sights, which we think is a plus. I love the thing. D G Trump’s campaign motto is restoring gun rights by not restoring gun rights. The guy was pro gun control until he suddenly decided to be a republican Christian one day. Who knows wtf he’ll do once he isn’t worried about reelection, and republicans will do whatever he says. For that reason, I think he is the only person that could actually get gun control legislation through both houses. I’m writing in a candidate this year, I don’t know who tf trump really is, and democrats are all talk- couldn’t get gun control legislation passed with Obama and both houses under dem control... trump worries me more than a Biden or sanders, which just feels wrong.

Good review Paul. My Sig P365 was made in November of 2018 and after 1,650 rounds of all different types and brands of ammo I have had zero FTF, zero issues and zero complaints. I find that with this pistol the 124 grain bullets are most accurate (for me) and shoot POA=POI. My favorite carry round is the Speer Gold Dot 124 grain HP +P Short Barrel version. Through my personal Chronograph average velocity is 1120-1125 fps (depending on temp) and performance has been quite consistent. While the +P Short Barrel version is slightly hotter, the perceived recoil is nothing objectionable, easy to shoot and since the pistol is rated for +P I see every reason to use it. Most fellow shooters that shoot the +P version out of the P365 don't even notice the difference and find it easy to handle. I find it way easier to shoot and handle when comparing it to my 5 shot S&W J Frame model 60. I did however use the Buffalo Bore +P 158 grain SWCHP-GC (#20A) in it which admittedly is no fun to shoot out of the Chief's Special! I fully understand your concern about carrying this pistol in a pocket with an UNCOVERED and exposed trigger and truly believe that ANY firearm carried in a pocket SHOULD BE in a holster that covers the trigger (just my opinion of course). I do use a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster that fully covers the trigger and guard and feel safe with that set-up. As I stated above, I might suggest trying out the Speer +P Short Barrel 124 and see how you like it. I doubt you will be disappointed! And no - I do NOT have any association what so ever with Speer - lol.

    • @gb93669

Bobby W: With the caveat about chronographs that Paul always mentions, I checked Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P short barrel rounds out of my DW ECO with a 3 1/2" barrel and was getting 1,400 fps. It is my carry round also.

    • @RickinICT
      @RickinICT 5 лет назад +1

gb93669 You should probably send your chronograph in for recalibration. Speer claims 1150 FPS for the Gold Dot 124g +P Short Barrel round, and Lucky Gunner found an average 5 shot velocity of 1160 FPS out of a S&W M&P 9c with a 3 1/2” barrel. There’s no way it’s achieving a true 1400 FPS.

I LOVE my P365! I've carried just about everything and this is the clear stand out now that I have given it several months and 1500 rounds. Especially with smaller hands, is a dream. Obviously, in a Kydex IWB holster because I agree with Paul on the trigger; one of the most outstanding features of the gun. My Glocks, Rugers, and Smiths stay home now. This truly is a "365 day a year" carry gun (the reason it got it's name). Obviously, my woods guns are different...
Thank you for testing the Hornady Defense ammo, Paul. It is what I carry. 10 in the gun, a 12 round mag on the weak side. I truly love this set-up. I cannot say enough good things about it and I have a G27 with a lot of money and work in to it and a ton of years and rounds through it converted to both 9 and 357 Sig and I don't see myself ever carrying it again now that I'm shooting the 365 as well as I am.

Like many, I really like my Sig P365, but I have only owned it for about two months. Of course Mr. Harrell does an excellent job of pointing out the pros and cons of the weapon.
Could not agree more with him about the excellent trigger, and his concerns with the P365 as a 'pocket gun'. I am not a fan of pocket guns, preferring a belt holster 99% of the time, and agree that a heavier double action trigger from either a revolver or semi auto is better for pocket carry. His chronograph testing is going to make me consider Sig's ammunition. Thanks Mr. Harrell.

Paul you finally hit the safety nail on the head about the 365. As a certified armorer for both platforms, I can say the 365 is a single action striker fire where the Glock Gx is a double action striker fire. The striker of the Sig 365 is under full tension and a pull of the trigger simply tilts the sear and lets the striker go. When you pull the trigger of any Glock, the trigger bar pushes the striker bar back gaining tension and at the end of the pull the sear falls out of the way, letting the striker go. Great video sir. The Sig 365 is a great gun, just not a safe gun.

I know this video is about 8 months old, but I just bought a Sig P365. The one I purchased does have a manual thumb safety. I previously carried a S&W M&P Bodyguard .380 as my EDC for the past 18 months or so. I have always pocket carried for better concealment due to having to wear a dress shirt and dealing with the public a lot. I now pocket carry the P365 (with thumb safety engaged) in a Sticky brand holster with nothing else in the pocket. I think Sig realized they danger of pocket carrying without a manual safety and decided to add it for those who pocket carry. I’m glad I waited instead of picking one up without a thumb safety. This video initially helped me decide against the P365 (when no thumb safety was available), but now glad they came out with one with a thumb safety, so I can now pocket carry it.

my son just bought one, it is a fantastic firearm, the trigger and sights are outstanding, if your looking for a gun to shoot a box a year and keep in your bedside drawer this is not it. if you want an edc that you will practice with often, I can highly recommend it.

It’s unfair to measure ‘Critical Duty’ velocity in a short/compact barrel because Duty is designed for barrels over 4”. It’s Critical Defence ammo that’s designed for short barrelled pistols when choosing brand Hornady, and this would give better results. That’s why the velocity increased with Critical Defense ammo when used in the 365 compared to “Duty” despite the lesser grain difference. Just saying. I absolutely love PH and his amazing videos. I learn the most from him by far versus others on RUclips and this video as usually is outstanding.

When you have a short-barreled pistol you need lighter bullets and faster-burning powders. 147gr and/or +P is not optimal.

I checked gun broker, and the ones with bids were under $1,000. They don't seem like a good collector value investment to me because so many Glocks and Glock clones are made in the US. If you look at the guns that have insane values amongst collectors, they're things where the supply is incredibly limited. Russian and Chinese guns, pre-ban automatics, things that have been out of production for a while. Gen 1 things usually only have extra value if the thing is already a collectors item.
What having a first gen Glock says to me is that Paul probably bought it when the gen 2 was released which would have driven the price down on the first generation as stores needed to move then to make room for new inventory, didn't like it that much, and put it in a safe for if it ever became germane in making a point. I could be wrong, but I've gotten some great deals on musical equipment and cars that way, and I'm holding off on buying the AR that I want because the next generation of it should be coming out soon, so this current generation ought to go on massive sale. I may cyber Monday it, though (I don't have a PhD/MD, so I'm not allowed to have patience).

You're correct, I always carry my P365 or my P238 with a pocket holster for safety and concealibility. One thing that sealed my decision to purchase the P365 was the availability of 9mm ammo. As a person that travels frequently, I find 9mm ammo is easy to find wherever I go but .380 is sometimes harder to find if at all. Great video, thanks.
