I built this kit and I can confirm that you have to push it in hard. I pushed it in hard enough and it doesn't wobble at all

Hi. My kit has no issues on the middle portion like urs. U REALLY need to snap them in, which is quite hard.

Brian Valerio this kit is amazing, I'm building mine, and it has been a blast.
Not sure if someone mentioned this already, but in response to your comment about the flimsy hip join: You're right on the money. When you put it together, you have to REALLY push the pivot hinge that goes up through the opening of the part that has the four pins (J10). Check out page 20, the J2-3 combo part is what ACTUALLY holds the part in. Where is says "Tightly fit the parts as far as they will go," they aren't kidding. I had to really jam it in there.
I am so fricken happy I decided to buy this when I was in Japan last week. I just knew I had to get it when I saw it on display at Divercity. I managed to buy this at Yodobashi for 24000Yen (tax free).
And just FYI - you WON'T be able to take this onto the plane as carry-on as the box is slightly too big to fit in the overhead compartment, so it'll have to be checked in.
kresnikful good advice, how did you find out about it having to be checked in? Did u try to get it on the plane?
hey Zak I think you should push the waist amd the upper body in. There gonna be a clicking noise when its snapped in place
Finally got around to building mine. I made the same mistake with not pushing the waist in all the way, but it's actually pretty easy to fix. You don't have the disassemble much at all, just pop off the hips and upper waist (still connected by the wire) and pop them back on after pushing the waist in.
I can rig LEDs and have 1000+ of them in different colors, so I'll just get the standard one. I just need to get some slot connectors for easy assembly/disassembly...............and a shit ton of resistors (granted for my PG MK2, but still).

I have noticed the same problem with the waist on my kit. I fixed it by simply adding some glue to the four pegs that join the top, and bottom of the waist swivel joint together. Those pegs seem a little small, for the holes they are supposed to be inserted into.
I really don't understand why are people complaining about the price of the LED version. Seriously, wasn't the LED unit for Unicorn the same thing? Just an example.... here in Europe, PG(no lights) 200-220€, PG(with lights) 300-320€. How much was the LED system for the PG Unicorn? 120-150€. so, what are you people crying about? You know what? at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai would release the LED Unit for this... with the decals in it. 120-150€. Anyway.... thanks for the review, very informative as usual. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! The Unicorn LED was slightly cheaper actually, and included more parts. The thing is that that one didn't change colors.

The only downside about this kit is no waterslides included. Pretty messed up for a kit of this price.
Tokio thats why theres the pbandai. And honestly with what you get with the repair as well as getting this kit with it AND waterslides. If you could only get one get the pbandai
All PG do not come with waterslides.
Some lines that comes with watersliders : MG ver KA, Premium Bandai.

The actual "problem" I'd say for this kit would be the right hand side face armor(the inside one) where it won't go in as tight as the left hand side one. I used glue on this one, and based on some other reviews, that is actually more than one person's problem

I wonder if its like that because of the p bandai repair add on parts. It is the right side of the face that gets replaced.
Maybe it's there so that if you got the repair parts it can be easily removed.
Repair parts came out, so flick that right side off and slap that baby on!
I bet that a bright red spot light would make the armor look pretty Trans-Am like without having to paint.
I like how they included the claws in the feet!
The Exia can be a nice mid-season upgrade if the protagonist (Setsuna, Ruido, Chall, whatever) starts with Astraea (a general purpose unit) then transfers to Exia (a close combat unit).
It's like Kamille starting from MK-II (a general purpose unit without any gimmicks) then transfers to Zeta (a transforming suit). Heck, Amuro started with RX-78-2, which has basic weapons and some TV exclusive ones such as the Gundam Hammer & Beam Javelin and its Core Block is not much of a gimmick compared to the later ZZ and he ended with Nu, which is armed with remote weapons.
the RG Astray Red Frame had the same problem with the waist, alot of people didn't push the waist and torso together enough so the top and bottom half of the kit kept coming apart.
As much as I dislike Exia...this is the kit I would pick up(the repair variant at least)...Dang you Zach!

Please god no, the older exia proportions of the NG and the MG were so much better, trying to humanize just makes it look goofy. The RG at least is a happy medium between to two.

ZakuAurelius last time I checked USAgundamstore they were 80. But that’s probably because that’s kind of a secondhand source for them.
disappointed in the lack of sliding armour effects. They were easily the best part of my PG strike and to me the defining feature of a PG. mechanics over light gimmicks any day

I completely agree on the sliding stuff, but I think cutting the pistons was a good idea. idraulics are cool but the exia looks more lik a scifi sliding stuff kind of machine than an old stile into the future mechanics tipe
I've just built this and I have a question. How do I topcoat it? The LEDs make it awkward to spray the libs individually as I would normally do. All the cables need to be unhooked and I would need to mask all of those clear parts. Should I take off all of the armor and spray it individually? Or should I go for the crazy masking job?
Pretty sure the chest of the pg exia and unicorn are slightly smaller than 1/60 scale, and the pilot inside along with them

Not all hips are like that, mine so far has been completely fine with no issues whatsoever. Have yet to attach the face armor, so I won't know for a few hours if the difficulty some people had with that will apply to mine as well.

Not sure if anyone said this yet but for the 1/100 master grade exia the pilot figures have the same problem, although scaled down

I just can't believe they charge that much more for the lighting. The lighting parts they have added are at most worth $20 total and that is at non bulk consumer prices.

A noob here. Just bought this kit and want to make it as pretty as possible. I want to make it as detailed as possible like less "plastic" and more "realistic" if that makes any sense. I was thinking of utilizing Gundam markers and also weathering paint. The thing I'm most afraid of is that it would ruin the kit. Do you guys have any suggestions? Like should I use both the paint and the markers or only one? Or should I not use anything at all. And also what color Gundam marker should I use? Grey or black or other nuances of those colors. And also what kind of paint should I use. Like is there a specific brand or kind of weathering paint. Hope you guys can help out. Anyways, a great video nonthereless and cheers. ^.^

So there is the lighting model and the normal PG Exia with an additionally bought LED Unit (also by Bandai). Will the PG with the LED Unit be the same as the Lighting model in terms of the end result?

It's all because of its hips colliding with a part in the waist. OO Gundam eliminates this issue because its hip armor is similar to most standard Gundams.

Looks to be an awesome kit. The lights look great. (Kind of wish there was a way to keep it in that deeper red color as it looks rather nice). And yeah , for the price this should have had waterslides. I'm a bit surprised that Bandai opted to use a simple socket joint for the wrist like they did with the ZZ ver Ka. I suppose it is more stable but it limits the articulation a bit. I wonder if that will be a thing for future kits now.

Time mark 6:22 the cockpit and cockpit/seated pilots unfortunately, are typically NOT 1/60 scale, it is my hope that this is rectified with the PGU. Understandably its easier to make the cockpit and seated pilot smaller however they really can and should make them 1/60, the PG Zaku for one has a seated pilot that is very close to 1/60 if not on the mark exactly, the PG Zaku has a huge cockpit area so they were able to scale the pilot appropriately albeit at some cost and drawbacks. The PG Zaku could have surly maintained a close to 1/60 cockpit and seated pilot with less total area etc. The PGU core block cockpit seated pilot looks like it could very well be 1/60. All in all in a 1/60 kit, id really love for the Mecha and all its pilots to in fact be 1/60.

ZakuAurelius the led lights has always been the one definite thing that has kept me the farthest away from MG and PG, to be honest. i always felt like " if the kit will be prettier and cooler with led lights on, then those lights HAVE to be bright enough even with room lights on", and i gotta say, i have yet to see a kit that does that. maybe this one is it, and i hope it is, because i'm a big exia fan and the MG Ignition version got me down on a lot of points.

Just building this kit now, anyone have an issue with the thigh swivel connection being loose? The swivel is tight but tge polycap jhst allows for too much wiggle and it feels liie I did something wrong

It’s funny how we complain about toys unable to do human movements. Back in the days I’m pretty sure toys were unable to do anything close to this one and the kids manage to enjoy playing. I grew up with kids who don’t even have toys to play. Some people just don’t know how easy life they have.

Pull the red Crotchred piece up and pull the red butt piece up, and it allows for a huge freaking abb crunch. It's made to do that.

This is one of my favorite gundams. I'm not a big fan of any grade other than RG's....there are hg's and mg's that I like. But I may have to get the PG Exia. Don't need the LED's though.

how do you top coat this?
I started topcoating pieces before I completely put it together.
Also you don't want to topcoat the clear green parts. Will fudge it up.
it makes sense, i was thinking about how to avoid the clear and the transparent parts. maybe panel lines and stickers and topcoat before assembling the kit?
I panel line, add stickers, give it a top coat, then weather the pieces I want to rough up, add a final top coat and then put the pieces together. I think this process may take a little longer but it lets you get an even coat on everything without missing joints and sections while assembled. I also just do the legs or arms at one time so I don't have to keep up with all the loose parts.
Actually regarding the clear parts i suggest you use gloss clear coating and tamiya model polish, preferrably applied by hand (you can get a polishing head for your Rotary tool but you risk overheating the part)
Also no need to go trough all the wet sanding and three step polishing, on gloss coat just use tamiya finish and you'll still get better result than oob.
Just take the time to try the technique on some spare clear runners
Man, that light up feature is really nice, but I can't help but feel like it's overpriced. I think it should have been maximum $100 more, though I'd rather it be closer to $75-$80. $140 just feels like their asking too much.
SideswipePrime606 well it IS a PG with a LED set. Granted compared to the LED set of PG unicorn it's a bit pricey. Still exia and the 00 Raiser remains to be my favorite gundams.
