  • Do turtles hibernate? Yes! Box turtles begin their winter hibernation in the fall, and if you have a yard, you can provide your local box turtles with a hibernation habitat.
    Wildlife expert Caroline Seitz shows you how. Watch the video here, and learn more at www.vetstreet.com/.

    Got a huge one in my back yard. I have been watching the boxies mate in my yard for years now. The male will come and prepare the place I guess ( because he always goes to the nest about 1/2 hour before her and then comes out ). Then the female will be in there for a while to lay her eggs. I have only seen the babies coming out of there 1 time in probably 10 yrs. or more since I put the nest up. They are quick lil buggers 😉❣️. I have 1 boxer that I found in the front of my house (in the road ) with a bad leg. She was a newborn & I still have her. It has only been 2 yrs. But she is doing great her foot is bent in but it still works fine and she is so sweet & yes she is spoiled😍

      Tina Crawford Your turtle should be outside. Tanks are very stressful for them.

      Tina Crawford Oh, that's a nice setup. I finally built an 8x8 pen in my backyard after I had a female in a 30 gallon tank for several months. I had to because a friend found a male and gave it to me. I ended up with 3 more males. Now, I need to build another pen.

    I want to ask
    A painter accidently drop a small drop of paint to my turtle shell it is so small i sometimes i can't even see it but is it still dangerous?
    Im a animal expert but still didn't know how :/

    • @thingswithjade
      @thingswithjade 4 года назад +1

      It probably won't kill it, but its not healthy. Turtles have the ability to absorb that paint through their shell and into their bodies

      As of right now I believe they are protected just as Diamondback Terrapins are which I've had the pleasure of having close contact with both box turtles being kept as pets and how basically people feel it's okay to just find them in the woods and keep them they are wildlife and should be kept and respected as such. Poaching for turtle soup and keeping them have pets have made them close to Extinction at least here. All parts of our ecosystem are important if you want a pet go buy one or better yet. One that needs a home before Slaughter. If they're roaming the woods why put them in the tank?

    • @jakewoodstock

      Why don't you live in a tank for a month let us know how it works.....

    I'm very scared by rats and mice, in winter they search for food and what best food than a defenseless little turtle sleeping under some branches...
