I love nails, and 2years ago I got an infection from a salon because the technician cut down my cuticles with infected cuticle trimmers! So now 2years later after finally fighting off this infection/fungus, I'm doing my own nails and soon to be a brand new, extremely thoughtful, caring and considerate nail tech! 💕
I just wanted to learn to do my own nails, but girrrrrrrrrl you got me ready to go to cosmetology school and open my own shop!! ***InMyOprahVoice*** YOU GET YA NAILS DID, YOU GET YA NAILS DID, EVERYBODY IS GETTING THEIR NAILS DID🤣😂🤣 #practicemakesperfect #shereeeaaady
You made me believe I can too achieve my dreams of becoming a nail tech, I am going for my state board testing soon I completed 1,500 hours before I graduated HS in 07, I know I should have got licensed then but life got wild for me and I lost focus but now that I'm fully into doing my own nails I decided to really get serious about it I found out that I don't have to complete the cosmetology program since I got all the required hours completed, girl I am so happy thank you so much for keeping us motivated ❤️!
Former nail tech here, just wanted to say nice breakdown. I would like to add, sterilization is not appropriate for nail salons because it's not possible in that environment, even with an autoclave, for several reasons. First, an autoclave is ineffective if sanitation is not achieved to a high degree, which is often the case in a salon setting, as people tend to think it eliminates debris so they fail to properly sanitize before using an autoclave. This is actually a good way to spread disease. Secondly, even if sterilization were achieved, it would be immediately compromised upon removal from the autoclave in the salon setting, putting the cleaning level to disinfection which is achieved with barbicide. An autoclave is literally a waste of time and supplies in a salon setting. Look for the blue barbicide and clean, unused implements and equipment instead and if a tech does not adhere to these standards, leave, even in the middle of a procedure (like trying to use a used pumice stone on your feet, for example). It's not worth it.
I'm contemplating on becoming a nail tech, but I'm a university student. I want to offer acrylic services and also do my own acrylics. I LOVE NAILS, so I I'm binge watching your videos. They're very helpful with great content. Thank youuu, new subby💅😍
Very essential information that I needed, I use soap and water & the high grade alcohol now , but I will be going to purchase that blue liquid to do them properly . Wonderful video as usual!
I got a pedicure at a salon and my big toe nail turned green soon after and it fell off. Took me 6 months for my new nail to grow. It sucked to not have a toenail because it was sensitive against my shoes. Never went to a salon again. Started doing them myself. ty for step by step demo.
Thank you for this video. Dirty or clean once you cut a diabetic, they can loose body parts. It's not only important to be clean but also be aware of any medication or medical conditions your client may have. Persons on blood thinners can be problematic as well.
i love all your videos :) as for the disinfection, I feel like by letting the implements touch the bottom of the sink after the barbicide, it's getting germs from the sink. maybe it shoudn't touch the sink once disinfected and maybe use a clean container? just my opinion...
Here in California the health department requires every nail salon To not only sterilize their tools but to also disinfect them such as you do and if I own the nail salon I would do both because I would not want to cause an infection on anyone or whether it’s a fungal infection or otherwise I think it’s best and safe to do both and to be proactive at doing both so good for you that you take it upon yourself to do this on a regular basis
Love how informative you are in ALL your videos. Natali, how would you disinfect your service towels the proper way? And Dispose your salon wastes each day?
are we also supposed to be sanitizing/disinfecting the acrylic & art brushes? as well as the dusting brushes? I was thinking maybe spraying the dusting brush with alcohol would suffice but totally unsure. great video girl, thank you again & again. you bomb girl!!! 👍
Jo_r_ T i think acrylic brushes are good ... since she doesn’t take new clients i’m sure she knows none of her clients have an infection due to her properly sanitizing and disinfecting ... and plus if you see an infection or anything sketchy on someone’s nails you should now perform a service
I started doing my own nails due to this pandemic, however I’ve been using pollygel. Today I invested in acrylic powder by glam & glits, with some cheap monomer. What kind of monomer do you recommend for g&g?
The nail filers that says “washable” can I sanitize and disinfect them as well? Meaning I could wash it with soap and water and than use the barbicide? Also do you sanitize and disinfect your drill bits?
You read my mind, I have gradually grown my nail supplies, and I was thinking how do I take care of all of these, and then here we are...... tada......
Wow I was literally just looking for vids on proper sanitizing methods and seen that you, one of my faves posted this! I do have one question though. So my old nail tech, if I had any lifting issues, she had this liquid she would put on my nails where the lifting was just in case she didn’t get every tiny bit off. She said it was to prevent fungus. Any idea what product that could have been? I looked up anti fungal treatments but it looks like they’re all for treating it if you have it, not prevention! Thanks in advance, you’re amazing and a huge reason in why I started doing nails!!
Can you reuse the same file on the same client? I do a friend's nails and I have a file, wooden stick and buffer for her. I just got a disinfectant, before I'd boil them for 20' to sterilise them, like baby bottles😂
Hey Natali, on a different video you talked about the plastic tray to disinfect the implements. Is this jar better than the tray? Or the same and is it okay to leave the barbecide solution in the tray for a week?
Natali is okay to use the same nippers n pusher , drill bits, on my family at home? I referring to my kids and myself..... please let me know, Natali Carmona? Thank you. 💜😘🙂
Thank you so much for that much needed information. You are much appreciated. I love watching your channel. You got me also wanting to attend Cosmetology School.
Hey girl, thank you for this video, this was helpful!, just wondering do u wash your drill bits? As well as I've seen some hand files that says washable, I've never washed them thinking that it might get ruined have you ever washed them? Thank you love your videos and nails💅💖
Can you compare Madam Glam to DND or can you do a tutorial on DND polish as far as what comes in the package, explaining the base coat that comes with it? @ Natali Carmona
It’s been a year since this video was uploaded, but hopefully you can respond to my comment 😭. Is it safe/okay to use an ultra sonic cleaner for nail implements and drill bits?

Your page is like the Nail manual for nail techs! Lol 😩💜
Lol thank you hun!
Right 💯
Love that u posted a video about this because a lot of people dont understand how big of a deal it is about cleaning and disinfecting your tools

In MA(and probably in some other states) you actually have to have and use a dry heat sanitizing

@@Redbeauty20 any soap works because the goal is just to remove any dirt on them so the solution can get to every part of the tool

Do nail salons just have to have HOT running water or just running water? I wanted to get a portable sink
How do you properly dispose of the barbercide?
Also make sure to dry them completely before you actually place them in the barbicide!
The nail filers that says “washable” can I sanitize and disinfect them as well?
Meaning I could wash it with soap and water and than use the barbicide?
Also do you sanitize and disinfect your drill bits?
pink2122 I think you just sanitise you’re still bits I don’t think you need to disinfect I’m not too sure.
Nope. If they’re porous they can’t be reused.
@@daniellorenzo3085 thank you
Wow I think I requested this like a couple days ago! Thank you for this essential info!!
After sanitizing the implements can I use Isopropyl alcohol to soak them in instead of using Barbicide? I only used the tools on myself

Yes after they have been properly disinfected
This video helped me out so much! Love learning from her 💙💙 very helpful
Helpful video !! Do you put the actual nail brushes in barbicide ? & every time we use a nail file or buffer we have to throw it out ?
No it will mess your brush up! You can use brush cleanser to clean your brush after each use and yes the buffers and nail files can not be disinfected
Hey Natali! I have a question what is the difference between Mar-v-icide and barbicide
* literally went to nail school and im still watching this lol
I absolutely love your videos❤❤❤ always so detailed and informational
Can we do this in a plastic container ?? I have a white one that is plastic but I’m afraid the barbicide is too strong to leave in there for a week
Thank you thank you. You just keep helping us with everything.
i thought youre suppose to dump it out every day it only works for 24hrs?
What about drill bits? like the sander
Hey nat thanks so much for these important classes!!! You’re a blessing!! 🥰🥰
Guys, how often should I do this process if I only used them for personal use?
I just ordered stuff to sanitize my tools & you posted this 😅
Thank you so much for that much needed information. You are much appreciated. I love watching your channel. You got me also wanting to attend Cosmetology School.
How often do you disinfect the nail supplies? Should I clean after each client?
Yes, or you can do it at the end of the day if you have enough for each client
Would that work for Esthetisian tools we well ? And would you recommend to get an UV light on the top of that steps in the end ?
Is there anything else you can use? This stuff makes me sneeze and breakout just from the smell. I didn't get any on my skin.

Could you use alcohol to disinfect your tools? Or does it have to be barbicide
Hi, what's the name of the song in your intro I love when you play it in your videos. And I love how thorough you are when you educate us.
What book are you reading from ?💗 Thxs for this video it is very helpful !🥰
Hey babe! I noticed you said it should be changed once. A week, on the barbicide website it says change at the end of everyday xxxx
In school they told us once a week or when visibly dirty
Yeah they changed it, because now that I am in cosmetology school they said at the end of everyday.
Where do you get your sanitation bags that you use to storage clean and ready to use *tools*
Great video! What if the implements starts to get rusty?
Throw them out
Very well explained like always thanks!! Keep up the great work!!!
How do you keep the nippers/clippers from rusting?? I’ve lost two now 😫
& do we put nail drill bits in barbicide ?
do you gotta put them back inside after each client ? Can u put your drill bits inside too?
u have to clean or throw away every single tool that you use for clients. i’m not sure about nail brushes though
Are you able to do a video on disinfecting your foot spa and maybe a video on pedicures for beginners?😇
So you have to use a new nail file per client ?
so do you throw away a nail file and buffer after using it on a client?
yes
I just bought barbercide and it’s brown why?shouldn’t it be blue?
Can you compare Madam Glam to DND or can you do a tutorial on DND polish as far as what comes in the package, explaining the base coat that comes with it? @ Natali Carmona
I’m still a beginner so I don’t have many people how long can the barbicide stay out?
How often do you have to change the mixture in the glass?
Once a week or when visibly cloudy
yup we use autoclave in the sterilization room, easy to do.
How much water & Barbicide for a 27 oz. jar?
It’s been a year since this video was uploaded, but hopefully you can respond to my comment 😭. Is it safe/okay to use an ultra sonic cleaner for nail implements and drill bits?
