- I stopped my afternoon nap, and my night sleep is sorted now. Somethings that have helped me- -I walk inside / outside the house after my dinner at 7pm -No sweet stuffs after dinner ( not even fruits) -No energy food or drinks during or after dinner -Keep the temperature in the room right to sleep -Have a light simple body shower -Meditate for 2 to 3 minutes- also deep breathing. Re: sleep...I turn my phone off and leave it in the kitchen. I have nothing electrical in my bedroom. I usually walk in the evenings and shower. I don't drink a lot of liquids after a certain hour. Of course, if im thirsty, I drink! I try not to pressure myself into thoughts of 'oh no, I HAVE to get to sleep!' I'll grab a book or an article to read. I lean towards health, subjects of personal interest. And I find by the time I lay my head on the pillow...I'm out! I guess the point is, experiment on what works for you personally. And don't fret over the problem. Energize the solutions!! IMO...!!

I have always told my children that beauty inside is beauty outside. I try to emphasize natural vitamins and minerals, healthy and whole foods, mental health maintenance, keeping a sense of awe and wonder in the world, and finding daily joy. I enjoy your videos very much. I have been my husband’s caregiver for 14 years now. He has dementia. There are some very hard days and nights, but I try hard to sit in nature at least a few minutes daily and be grateful for everything. I love seeing birds and trees and wildlife. The other day I was sitting outside and I heard a hawk cry. I looked up and way up high was a kettle of red tailed hawks just riding the thermals and calling. It brought me so much joy I laughed out loud. It’s the things like that which keep me going. I agree with you about keep moving. I am always finding things to do daily. I walk my dogs and play outside with them . I find that sunshine for just a few minutes a day helps me sleep. Vitamin D. I also love blueberries,and quit sugar a year ago because it is so addictive and inflammatory.Thank you Sandra❤

About once per week, I whip up one egg white with a fork and apply it to my face and neck. You can use either a fan style brush or your fingers. Apply as many layers as you can, let it dry completely (20 minutes or so), then gently wash off with warm water. The glow and softness it leaves my skin lasts several days. Thank you for video. 😊😊😊
We use both the white and yellow part...first the yellow (-whipped with a fork), apply, let harden, rinse, then whipped white, apply, let stiffen, then rinse. The yellow adds nutrients and softens, while the white tightens and closes the pores.

The last time my mind started racing when I needed to be sleeping, I just told myself those thoughts can wait. It worked, but it took me time to feel like I really have control over my thoughts, but they’re my thoughts - if I don’t control them who will? Same thing with negative self talk. I simply don’t allow myself to say negative things to myself. And when I worry, I remind myself that nothing really matters (like the Madonna song- also recommend the power of goodbye also from her Ray of Light Album.) Anyway, no matter what life brings our way, we can survive it as long as we want to. As to “aging” I feel like there is too much emphasis on the idea that looking young equals looking beautiful. Lots of people don’t look young but look beautiful and often people who go to extremes to look young end up looking unreal - almost like an alien.
Hi Sandra. I find short stories on my laptop by famous authors does wonders for helping me drift off to sleep. There are even 'sleepy time stories' with soft calming voices to help you enter slumber land. Thank you for your videos.

When I was 24, I met a friend’s grandmother who was so active and alert in her 80’s. She said the biggest difference between me and the other people my age is that I walk every day. She was living in a senior center that was a high-rise, but she went up to the roof and walked laps. At 74 now I am frequently motivated to get up by her words.

My acupuncturist told me to Stop drinking water 3 hrs before you go to bed, so now I try to take my evening pills at 8:30, if I do that I only get up once for a bathroom run, sometime 2 times, I’m 85 and getting up 3 times means you’re not sleeping enough hours to go through all of the 3 sleep patterns which takes 3.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I try to give my self a hydrating weekly facial, the one I like if by Number 7. I also do the breathing 4/7 exercise!🥰

I find that listening to an audio book, either from the library or buying a favorite audio book, helps me sleep. Just like reading to children makes them drowsy, it works for Senior Age also.

I love fresh vegetables, don't eat processed food, I stay hydrated & I absolutely eat frozen blueberries several times each week. I walk 3 mi M-F & attend fun exercise classes. Hoping this slows the aging process.😊 Yes indeed... To keep moving is the answer! And yes, drinking/smoking will age you & take a huge toll on your heart. I just learned from Dave Asprey of two sleep studies following 3 million and 2 million people for many years and found that the lowest cause of mortality was 6.5 hrs sleep!!!! I was so relieved, I was stressing that if I did not get 7=8 hours of sleep and fearing that I was harming my body. This took away so much pressure and stress. Stressing over my lack of sleep was in itself unhealthy. I am sure this news itself might lift your spirits.
I’m 73 and recently started on HRT. I am sleeping so much better after many many years of struggling with it. I take progesterone at night and estradiol in the morning. I am going to start on testosterone as well. I spent several months finding a doctor who would help me, a gynecologist.

Thank you Sandra for helping us to be healthy and age well. Certainly, looking at you tells us how great you've taken care of your skin. I find that if I go out in the air for a walk during the day or swim in the morning I always sleep well. My beautiful mother-in-law had her older sister, who she had not seen for over 20 years, come for a visit. Her sister who was living a healthier life out in California actually looked younger than my mother-in-law who smoked and drank. I felt so sorry for her as she had always been known as the most beautiful among the three sisters and she was the youngest. However; she had inner beauty as well and will always remain beautiful in my eyes.
My mother ate what ever she wanted,had a sleeping problem and passed away at the age of 99 years.Anti-aging is a word that someone made up and it brings in a lot of money.At your age I wouldn’t worry about anything anymore.We in Europe don’t worry about all of this instead we enjoy life with good friends,good food and a bottle of wine.🇩🇪
No offense that is ONE persons experience, and Europe is more than one country. My in-laws are German and they certainly watch what they eat, alongside of friends of mine who are from Spain. One person's experience is not proof that others shouldn't be mindful of their health, we all have different bodies.

I sometimes listen to Steven Dalton or other sleep stories when needed. Sandra, i find that it's overwhelming the cosmetic that's being pushed on youtube. When i see that the subject is going to be about selling a product I do turn it off. I find that blush and mascara is all I need so my healthy complexion can show through. I love that you are concerned with suggesting healthy budget friendly foods for people. People who want to improve their bodies and looks may not have a lot to spend. Even if they can do half the healthy foods, that is a start. Hopefully they can do more over time.

I don’t understand going thru an expensive & no guarantee of how it will come out facelift & painful C02 laser peels, etc. aging is natural, life is natural, obsession over “anti aging” is never going to bring happiness. It will bring loss of money spent, lead to more procedures or treatments “ just a little more & then I’ll be happy”. Happiness & peace come from within. 💖
What I learned too late in life is: 1. alcohol ages my skin and ruins my quality of life 2. sugar is extremely toxic in every way. I gave up all alcohol 4 yrs ago. Never regretted it. I gave up sugar almost one yr ago. I am 65- if only I had done it in my 20's!! Its the key to my good skin, youthful looks (for my age) and better mental health.
I feel the same! If only I didn’t choose those bad choices and took care of myself better. I’m doing the best i can now but it is hard to lose bad habits. I have a problem w/ sugar, sleep, and stress!
Same problem with sleep. I can go to sleep but staying asleep is my issue. I usually have to attend the restroom. Therefore, once I'm up, it often takes me hours to get back to sleep. This has been going on for the past 3 years. I'm 76. I don't nap during the day. I think it may have a thyroid issue causing some of my issues. Great video Sandra. Enjoy your messages so much.

Spot on with your advice Sandra ! I have a sweet tooth also, and working on cutting down on the sugar. I’m sure you wear sunscreen or protect your face & body outdoors. I wish I would have started with that way earlier than I did. 😞 My generation only wore it at the beach.
You eat like the Blue Zone people Sandra and that explains your radiance! I miss living in Florida and having access to fresh seafood daily. You are correct with the importance of sleep. I make it a priority to nap daily whenever possible. I turn off my phone's ringer during my naps and at night too. I also sleep with a fan for white noise and hot flash relief both. Like that tv commercial said "A body in motion stays in motion" which is so true. ALDI is the best and less expensive too. Also, seed oils are toxic!!!

Just a suggestion, but I know how it can become a habit to sit for too long, and I felt I needed a reminder. I went on Amazon and bought an inexpensive tracker to put on my wrist. It tells the time, records all my steps including how many miles I walk a day, tracks my stress level, heart rate and reminds me to get up and move if I've been sitting for too long. When this one quits, I will get one that also records my blood pressure. Take a look at all the options and brands and choose one that works for you. I know they aren't 100% accurate, but they are close enough for me and serves the purpose of keeping me moving! Good luck.

My acupuncturist told me to Stop drinking water 3 hrs before you go to bed, so now I try to take my evening pills at 8:30, if I do that I only get up once for a bathroom run, sometime 2 times, I’m 85 and getting up 3 times means you’re not sleeping enough hours to go through all of the 3 sleep patterns which takes 3.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I try to give my self a hydrating weekly facial, the one I like if by Number 7.
I also do the breathing 4/7 exercise!🥰
Wise points for a simple and meaningful life. Sleep is a major issue in my life,too. My brain wants to stay awake while I want to sail off to LA LA land.

I find that listening to an audio book, either from the library or buying a favorite audio book, helps me sleep. Just like reading to children makes them drowsy, it works for Senior Age also.

We all want to be like you & look like you when we grow up!!🥰 I'm a rainbow plate person, also, & have been since my early 40s (I'm currently 71). I love fresh vegetables, don't eat processed food, I stay hydrated & I absolutely eat frozen blueberries several times each week. I walk 3 mi M-F & attend fun exercise classes. Hoping this slows the aging process.😊 Yes indeed... To keep moving is the answer! And yes, drinking/smoking will age you & take a huge toll on your heart. Yes, the rainbow plate. For sleep help I listen to Michelle’s Sanctuary, Get Sleepy and Stephen Dalton. Now that I am retired I don’t sweat the sleep troubles as much. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I swim and walk. And enjoy life as much as possible. Thank you for being you, Sandra.

I just learned from Dave Asprey of two sleep studies following 3 million and 2 million people for many years and found that the lowest cause of mortality was 6.5 hrs sleep!!!! I was so relieved, I was stressing that if I did not get 7=8 hours of sleep and fearing that I was harming my body. This took away so much pressure and stress. Stressing over my lack of sleep was in itself unhealthy. I am sure this news itself might lift your spirits.

I’m 73 and recently started on HRT. I am sleeping so much better after many many years of struggling with it. I take progesterone at night and estradiol in the morning. I am going to start on testosterone as well. I spent several months finding a doctor who would help me, a gynecologist.

Thank you Sandra for helping us to be healthy and age well. Certainly, looking at you tells us how great you've taken care of your skin. I find that if I go out in the air for a walk during the day or swim in the morning I always sleep well. My beautiful mother-in-law had her older sister, who she had not seen for over 20 years, come for a visit. Her sister who was living a healthier life out in California actually looked younger than my mother-in-law who smoked and drank. I felt so sorry for her as she had always been known as the most beautiful among the three sisters and she was the youngest. However; she had inner beauty as well and will always remain beautiful in my eyes.
My mother ate what ever she wanted,had a sleeping problem and passed away at the age of 99 years.Anti-aging is a word that someone made up and it brings in a lot of money.At your age I wouldn’t worry about anything anymore.We in Europe don’t worry about all of this instead we enjoy life with good friends,good food and a bottle of wine.🇩🇪

No offense that is ONE persons experience, and Europe is more than one country. My in-laws are German and they certainly watch what they eat, alongside of friends of mine who are from Spain. One person's experience is not proof that others shouldn't be mindful of their health, we all have different bodies.

I sometimes listen to Steven Dalton or other sleep stories when needed. Sandra, i find that it's overwhelming the cosmetic that's being pushed on youtube. When i see that the subject is going to be about selling a product I do turn it off. I find that blush and mascara is all I need so my healthy complexion can show through. Hi Sandra, loved your opening remarks about the possibilities each day brings. I too have a sleep problem ever since my husband passed. Haven’t slept thru the nite in 4 years…. Until my primary care Dr suggested I get CBD gummies…it worked!! I’m now sleeping thru the night. I am so grateful! I’m sure there are loads of legitimate CBD stores in South Florida. I don’t understand going thru an expensive & no guarantee of how it will come out facelift & painful C02 laser peels, etc. aging is natural, life is natural, obsession over “anti aging” is never going to bring happiness. It will bring loss of money spent, lead to more procedures or treatments “ just a little more & then I’ll be happy”. Happiness & peace come from within. 💖

Thank you for this insight on aging. I love Aldi's but didn't know that about Aldi's. They are owned by Trader Joe's and I enjoy shopping there too!
What I learned too late in life is: 1. alcohol ages my skin and ruins my quality of life 2. sugar is extremely toxic in every way. I gave up all alcohol 4 yrs ago. Never regretted it. I gave up sugar almost one yr ago. I am 65- if only I had done it in my 20's!! Its the key to my good skin, youthful looks (for my age) and better mental health.
I feel the same! If only I didn’t choose those bad choices and took care of myself better. I’m doing the best i can now but it is hard to lose bad habits. I have a problem w/ sugar, sleep, and stress!
Also, alcohol increases the heart rate and is not good.

Same problem with sleep. I can go to sleep but staying asleep is my issue. I usually have to attend the restroom. Therefore, once I'm up, it often takes me hours to get back to sleep. This has been going on for the past 3 years. I'm 76. I don't nap during the day. I think it may have a thyroid issue causing some of my issues. Great video Sandra. Enjoy your messages so much.

Spot on with your advice Sandra ! I have a sweet tooth also, and working on cutting down on the sugar. I’m sure you wear sunscreen or protect your face & body outdoors. I wish I would have started with that way earlier than I did. 😞 My generation only wore it at the beach.
You eat like the Blue Zone people Sandra and that explains your radiance! I miss living in Florida and having access to fresh seafood daily. You are correct with the importance of sleep. I make it a priority to nap daily whenever possible. I turn off my phone's ringer during my naps and at night too. I also sleep with a fan for white noise and hot flash relief both. Like that tv commercial said "A body in motion stays in motion" which is so true. ALDI is the best and less expensive too. Also, seed oils are toxic!!!

Just a suggestion, but I know how it can become a habit to sit for too long, and I felt I needed a reminder. I went on Amazon and bought an inexpensive tracker to put on my wrist. It tells the time, records all my steps including how many miles I walk a day, tracks my stress level, heart rate and reminds me to get up and move if I've been sitting for too long. When this one quits, I will get one that also records my blood pressure. Take a look at all the options and brands and choose one that works for you. I know they aren't 100% accurate, but they are close enough for me and serves the purpose of keeping me moving! Good luck.
