Coffee cake brings back memories! It was the second thing I attempted to make when I was a teenager in the 70's. Everyone in the family loved it. It gave me cooking confidence. I haven't made a coffee cake in...since forever. I'll give this one a go! Thanks, Catherine!

I used to make this for a boyfriend, who was in the army, as he loved American coffee cake. He would share it with the guys in his office. I made one, and it looked sooo good, I nicked a slice of it....thank the lord I did, as I put salt instead of white sugar in it!!!😅

@CatherinesPlates is it better to use canned fruit I used fresh apples and it made my bread soggy this recipe called for layering of the apples.

I would love to make this. Especially for this weather today. I have no brown sugar or sour cream... what can I do?
You can replace the sour cream with Greek yogurt or cottage cheese as for the brown sugar you can use coconut sugar, raw sugar, or just white sugar.
I'm going to ask a dumb question!! How can you tell if it is over mixed!! But that is a must to make❤❤

I try to make coffee cake that reminds me of Drakes coffee cake, of course better. But a lot of recipes don't get the topping right! ✌️

You can substitute Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for the sour cream.

I make a similar coffee cake but I use two eggs, and I double the streussle and add chopped pecans. I cover the pan and put it in thr refhr overnight. While it is baking I make a bout a cup of caramel and pour it over the cake when I tske it out of the oven..that wssn't in the receipe I just fo it.

Two children were killed with a hook like that. I’d throw it away. Ppl don’t realize when they buy some tool like that what evil ppl do with them.

I've had that hook for years and it's just my husband and I now, plus I don't think either of us are evil so I'm not worried. The same thing could be said for most cooking utensils.
