They are running a remote Command & Control server which should be actionable against under hacking laws. This is commonly refered to as slaving a system.
"Gamers should get used to not owning there games" is about as stupid as stating "Developers should get used to piracy" Why should anyone pay for a game when you can pirate it for free? If I cant own the games I buy why should I pay for it? This argument falls pretty bad quickly if U think about it. Publishers need to get a reality chek and come back to earth.
Every online video game should have the option for setting up private servers, EVERY game. That's good for both the company and the customer, the company doesn't have to continue paying for the servers and customers will always be able to play the game.
I made that mistake with Overwatch. Bought a physical copy back when it was relatively new and now it's just a plastic paperweight. That's why I don't play multiplayer only games anymore.
Wonder how you'll feel about when they shut down and remove access from your favorite game? This isn't just about The Crew. It's about games as a whole.
The majority of games can be played straight from the disc or cartridge without ever connecting to the internet, have you heard of the group Doe's It Play or the Facebook page Nintendo Revised?
Most physical versions do still have a full playable copy on it if it's single player but there are companies, like Ubisoft, who have actually made the physical copies into just keys, it is happening.
@@westonhutson1894 Yeah I get that, but companies like Ubisoft are an exception and not the norm. The majority of physical games have the full game on disc. It's still misinformation to say that discs are just keys to download though.

This will get settled out of court as it will be cheaper than Ubisoft seeing it through to them being seen not at fault. They will take the settlement because there are no legs to this. These two guys saw an opportunity to make a quick buck and that’s all they are in it for and will take a quick pay off.
Are BASICALLY keys. Meaning a lot of games came out unplayable without dayone patches. And not all features are always accessible without a patch. So in a way modern day disc games are going the way of just a key. He didn't say they are a 1 for 1 comparison.
@@1iedsnake exactly... very recent case in point, Star Wars Outlaws was unfinishable on day 1, and that's if you could get past the AC Unity levels of bustedness all throughout
Wheres all the pointless bitching about games that have a similar issue from the past? MAG on ps3, warhawk and countless others are totally unplayable now the servers are gone. Bitching for the sake of bitching.
Sadly this lawsuit wont mean much in the grand scheme of things
Wrong, the lawsuit will set a precedent if it goes all the way.
The problem with purchasing digital games is this;
You are paying a premium price (£50-70) just to own a license to play. Madness.

This is why people pirate games

What I hate the most about Ubisoft is their “internet required to install the game” freaking crappy scam.

will celebrate the day they file for bankruptcy 🥳
And game "companies" are surprised why gog and the high seas are so popular......

They should sued after that 2b design for crime on the eyes.
It’s 2024 let me play the first crew game. Said no one ever.
Why? It had more detail around the major cities than Crew 2
With the new games today why not play older games for more fun? My nephew has more fun playing on the wii

Bingo! I just save their site on my phone as shortcut. Very helpful. There also Switch cartridge groups on Facebook that tracks that stuff too.
The misinformation of discs just being keys continues.

Why is a AC character in picture when this is a crew lawsuit and video?
Gauntlet Legends is a great game!
Eric we appreciate you big guy but stop spreading misinformation most games are on the disc especially for the switch cartridges.
hi 8BE
Discs are just keys to access games? Stop spreading misinformation, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

it is just a key. when you install it it immediately starts downloading files before installing
@@s7r49 It's not just a key. Most games can be installed and played offline from the disc without internet connection or needing to download patches.
@MattD402 it's a key with a launcher that downloads the game online
Weeeee!
