    Thank you so much for this video! I was able to follow the same steps and change my engine oil. One thing is that it is better to buy a drain plug removal tool to remove the plug. Last year I used a flat screwdriver to remove it. However, I used the same flat screwdriver but the plug got stuck right before the final click point. I tried hard but only damaged the slotted part so the flat screwdriver couldn't use the slot anymore. Luckily, after doing some research online, an auto parts store had the drain plug removal tool ($13.99 plus tax) I needed, and is a 10-minute walk from where I live. With that removal tool, it was so easy to get the plug clicked firmly. I highly recommend people get the tool and follow the video. Thanks again!

    I’ve been waiting for this video. For a while my dealer was still honoring their 74.99 oil change coupons for the new 508 spec oil changes. Being that, that was about what I could buy the oil for. I think someone got in trouble for doing that because now these oil changes are over $100. It’s now worth doing them myself.

      Why are oil changes and the specific oil so darn much? I just had my Honda done with full synthetic 0W-20 with a coupon for $40! I'm thinking of buying a 2022 Tiguan (exact same engine I think) but I'm leary about the oil specifics and the prices charged by my not-even-closeby VW dealership. I can change my own oil after watching this.

    2018 Tiguan. Oil sits in a sump on the oil filter. Looks like 6-8 ounces. No matter what an ounce leaks out when I remove the housing, running down the engine. Plus there is that last bit of used oil sitting there. Short of a dozen rags around the base to catch the oil and vacuuming the remaining oil in the filter housing, what can I do?

    Have you guys seen common issues with this gen of Tiguan leaking oil from the timing covers, or elsewhere? Trying to track my leaking issue.
    Also, have the alternator clutch pulleys been known to fail early, also throwing oil? Found some build up on my radiator's plastic end tank, which is in-line with this pulley.
    Lastly, VW updated their warranty once again, now to only 4y/50k miles? Or is it still 6y/72k?

    My VW dealer dumped 5W40 Castrol in my car for its 10k service, as written on the invoice. When I questioned them about it, they said it is fine and it can be used. I’ve noticed my 2021 Tiguan runs smoother with the 5W40, but the gas mileage has plummeted. Will this caus significant damage to the engine? I do my own oil changes every 5k with VW 508/509 0W20 OEM oil I buy from another dealer. What do you suggest I do about the 5W40 that’s in there now. There’s only about 2,500 miles left on the 5k service until I hit 15k. I already bought the 6 quarts of 508/509 0W20 oil, filter, and drain plug for the 15k service. Should I just wait until then or do the service now and then just let the oil go 7500 miles until the 20k service, which I’ll be doing at a different dealer that actually uses the VW Spec 508/509 0W20 oil? Thanks in advance. Great video!!!

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  3 года назад +2

      We would suggest removing the 5w40 and replacing it with the recommended 0W20, this is a pretty specific requirement for the new EA888 VW engines and it's best to use what its been tested and engineered to use. If you purchase the oil change through our site (with Genuine Oil or our Preferred Liqui Moly like in the video) then dont forget its also covered by our lifetime replacement grantee! Essentially giving you and your car free oil changes for life every 5k or so miles.

    • @tomdolgin5441
      @tomdolgin5441 3 года назад

      @@fcpeuro Do you suggest I also change the oil filter too, despite it only being in there about 2,500 miles? I’d hate to have to waste that practically new filter, but if you recommend doing so, I can part with $13 for the filter. Thank you guys for the advice. I’m lovin my 21 Pure White Tiguan SE R-line Black! They really aren’t as slow as people think…but I do have a FWD model where there isn’t as much weight from all the drivetrain components for the 4motion. Thanks again guys, great informative video as usual.

      The DTEA engine code in the 2021 Tiguan uses 502.00 oil or 5W40.

      For break in period, check your manual and ask the dealer. There might be another oil change recommended early on.

      My 2019 Arteon does also. Not much, just bring it up from low to mid a couple of times per year. I'm waiting until I get within a year of warranty running out to get it addressed --probably the water pump/thermostat assembly. The new one will fail with time, so I'm waiting and getting the factory one replaced later. Who knows, maybe the new ones will actually fix the issue.

    Being that the oil change seems similar to 2020 Audi q3 2.0t. Is there any difference in the engine between the 2020 vw Tiguan 2.0t and the 2020 Audi q3 2.0t? I know ones a tsi and the Audi tfsi but can you please tell me the difference ? Thanks in advance @FCP Euro

      The 2020 Audi Q3 2.0T still uses the same VW Spec 508/509 0W20 oil, but the Audi 2.0T has more horsepower, I believe 211 compared to 184 in the Tiguan.

      @@tomdolgin5441 I’ve seen the 2020 tiquans being 2.0t but are tsi, the Audi is a tfsi does that make any difference in motor aside from power ? Or is power the only difference

      @@1state152 It makes no difference. TSI stands for Turbo Stratified Injection and TFSI stands for Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection. There is NO difference. They both mean the same thing. VW uses “TSI” and Audi uses “TFSI” on their engine covers. They are literally the same exact thing. I’m sure the companies wanted to differentiate the two brands even down to what’s on the engine covers so that people don’t think that they are the same exact thing, even though they are. Hope that makes some sense. It’s just marketing. To confuse you even more, the MKV VW 2.0T engine covers used to say “FSI” for Fuel Stratified Injection. Those are the same exact thing too. LOL.
