the way they did the quarterbacks, part of it is the Falcons have been sensing theyre gonna be better this year and the next few years, so that would mean that they're not going to be drafting high too. not drafting early in '25 or '26. if you're not drafting in the top 10 you're not getting one of the best young QB's coming out for the franchise's future. had to get Pennix in '24, Kirk most likely only has two years here. I didn't like the draft pick at first, but if the logic pans out it'll be a genius move.

I thought getting Penix was smart. A tad unexpected, but if Penix turns out to be a franchise QB, it is worth it over the next decade. I figure at most Cousins will play 2 years in Atlanta (if he plays great) and just 1 if he's reverting to the mean. Also I'm upset Penix wasn't around for Seattle to take.

Getting your future QB for not having to trade a fortune up to get him and getting an established elite pass rusher in the league for a 3rd round pick is better for their must win now mentality than drafting an unproven rookie who wouldn’t produce like Judon can. Beautiful. Three Pro Bowlers added and to be honest there is a reason they got the quaterback locked up. We won last year because of the DEFENSE not the offense. The defense just added 3 pro bowlers and Ruke Orhorhoro. Jarret is back. Clearly projected to win the division unlike the Jets who paid all that money for Aaron Rogers who played 3 snaps for $50,000,000. Just to end up Zach Wilson for the entire season. They waste the pick on Wilson and $50,000,000. Nobody says anything.

Sorry, but everyone shaking their head about the Penix pick was right, and Atlanta's justifications have been ludicrous. Winning in NFL is about cap management. You draft a QB1 with a high 1st round pick to get the benefit of their rookie contract so you can spend the money to build a winner around them for the next 4-5 years you have that bargain. When you already spent that money on a free agent QB1 and are unlikely to get any value out of the first 3 years, MINIMUM, of that rookie contract, you are not managing cap well.
