@noxlupa2996 Well I’m certainly not going to spend money on watching this crap but from what I’ve read: King Magnifico gets trapped in the magic mirror from Snow White, the goat founds Zootopia, the Wishing Star is the same wishing star from Pinocchio…..and somehow Asha becomes the Fairy Godmother -__-

The craziest part to me is, Across the Spider-Verse looks at least 10x better than this movie while “only” having a budget of 100 million USD. Wish had a budget of *200 million*. How did that even happen?? Someone has got to be defrauding the company. Disney seriously needs to be audited, because there’s no way a movie that looks this mid should cost this much.
It honestly looks like they made a Frozen/Moana style movie with beautiful animation but then decided in the last minute to throw on some disgusting filter that flattens and watercolors everything. There is a nice looking movie underneath that trash filter, somewhere.
In the beginning, the VERY beginning, Disney grew by making family-friendly, CLASSIC, tried and true stories. Now, they are trying to Frankenstein together "new" stories, using disconnected elements of the other stories. It does not work. There is a reason those early stories were classic. And today's Disney has no clue how to do that.
They know, but refuse because they know better than you or me. There are a lot of activists working at Disney in key decision making roles. Disney parks stopped catering to families and the middle class years ago when they started courting the wealthy and wine moms and Instagram influencers.
I love how they were all scrambling to go "shit, all these animation studios are making these gorgeous, unique art styles and we have been doing the same shit for 20 years, what do we do?!" so they stick the most sorry excuse of a 2D water color filter over a typical CGI princess film. It's such a NOTHING film. Like you said, I still enjoy the stuff Pixar is putting out still (I was the one dude who loved Lightyear) but it SUCKS Disneys in house animators and story tellers are just doing the same basic shit.
Blame Bob Iger. Instead of growing and cultivating creativity, Bob Iger bought Pixar, bought Marvel, bought Lucas Film and bought Fox. He then alienated and chased out those that made those brands popular primarily due to ESG/DEI and social credit scores. Sprinkle in a little neo Marxist corporatism, which is bizarre to spell out and that is how we got here today.
What do you mean scramble to compete? If anything, Disney was going to make the movie 2D prior but ended up backing out. That was just them being lazy.
Not true you really think they care about anything let alone people. They pay people so badly they living in their cars that work the park. No stop thinking these huge corporations have a soul no they a mind less company that only think about making money period. Like all companies they make horrible decisions in trying to make money in fact lose money. The increase the top pay and decrease the little guy pay. Also what hurts then the most they can easily steal people ideas they use to come pot to them thinks to the internet. So they decided to just pay up everything why have a lot of competition specially sense the government isn’t regulating companies like it should for monopolies. There shouldn’t be bailout that a clear sign if a company to big to fail it is a monopoly period. We in the time where just about all our seeds that grown is own by only five companies, media just three companies, etc that not good at all. If people pay attention to all the huge anti business patience they would be shocked. But few pay attention many work for huge soulless companies that care less for their workers that work in them.
Yeah back in the 90s, Disney was THE competition that everyone else wanted to be like. That's why you had movies like The Swan Princess, The Quest for Camelot, Thumbelina and Anastasia, the last two being from a former Disney animator (a certain someone named Don Bluth) no less. It seems like Sony has since snatched the animation crown with the Spiderverse films.
In the preview they has the creators talking about the movie and how original it is. My first reaction was to laugh out loud in the movie theatre. I love and want to work for disney, but some of their movies are terrible.
I do not want to watch movies in cinema for an okay-time - I want to escape reality, immerse into what the movie wants me to dream of and enjoy my time.
Imagine if Wish had 3D models that are used to appear 2D animated, instead of this watercolor asthetic. Like I have friends who are taking animation classes with me and we WISHED it had used 3D models to simulate the 2D feel. Like at least that would've saved the artistic direction, but after seeing how the story went, I don't know if that would've saved the film.
We have to acknowledge Chris Pine. He did Wonder Woman 1984. Which was about a wish causing consequences. Now we have Chris Pine voicing an evil King in Wish. Where something happens with a wish. If a new Aladdin or Wishmaster movie happens. We have to see Chris Pine now.
The first thing my 8 year old son said at the end was that he already knew the whole movie from the preview lol. He did enjoy it, but... Yeah. My experience was just slogging through cliches, fine-sounding but unmemorable songs that felt wedged in with no purpose, and a wishy washy message that at best was cliche and at worst was just reinforcing the ego with the idea that your wishes are the most important thing in life. That's it! The movie should have been called Wishy Washy. 😊
Yeeaahh, they keep taking the wrong lessons away from celebrity voice casting. It only works in very few instances. Voice actors do this for a living and are, more often than not, leagues better!
This is one of those things were I don’t know what came first. We have Puss in boots, the last WISH, and the super Mario movie with the funny little star that everyone loved. The movie to me really seemed like Disney felt so threatened by these other properties that they had to try and adopt some of these things into their film. It’s pathetic, especially for Disney! WTH
I go to the movies on Sundays or Tuesdays when it's $6 per ticket. And when I get enough movie loyalty points, I buy a large popcorn with it for $2 and it includes a free refill.
The initial concept was genuinely kind of awesome and then they just Frozen II'd it to squeeze something, *anything* else outside of Once Upon A Studio out on their 100th. It's a shame. Oh well.
Wow...a movie studio has officially crossed the 100 year mark. A full century of creating entertainment. And yet...I feel like they did NOTHING this year to mark the occasion. I know they re-released movies, I saw the re-release of The Lion King. But the only new release that seems to acknowledge this is "Wish", but all the reviews I'm hearing about are just so dissapionted by it.
Of course not. The past is problematic, close minded and needs to be corrected. Just listen or read some of Rachel Ziegler’s comments about Snow White, the movie that essentially created Disney. It shouldn’t surprise you that they did very little to celebrate their history when they are actively trying to rewrite it.
@@Stew91 You mean that short that was released on Duh Plus that isn't even 10 minutes long? Kinda got buried under all the usual bad press and reports that Disney is usually experiencing
Movies are not worth it anymore - TVs are 85 inches and the sound is better at home. No one is talking during my movies and I remember 5 dollar movies. 1 dollar movies at the crappy screens. The magic is gone. 💯 %.
You know what would be fun? A movie about a magic castle where all the princesses are send because there's a new villain; they have to work together to defeat him. Maybe he's de mon and separate them in differents rooms where there's traps; the girls have to find a way out and one to beat him. Sounds more creative than what we got. I watched it yesterday and the ONLY good thing in it is the animation; the rest was bad. - The goat was not funny and didn't give advices to Asha or make a diversion so she can stole the king's staff. - The songs are not memorable except '' Make this wish! '' and the villain's song 😐 - Asha's friends are not developped so i didn't care about them. I can't remember any of their names. - There's 2 action scenes, the chase with the king and the battle. That's it! A bit dissapointing to not see Asha uses magic to try to defeat him ☹Also none of her fiends helped her like Mushu did with Mulan, she didn't tricked him like Aladdin did with Jafar or fight him alone like Simba with Scar. There was no battle, she just sings and win. - I can't find a moral in the movie. I tried but it's hard. Am i the only one who can't see it?
Are you talking about Lego Disney Princess: The Castle Quest? If they ever make the movie, Disney will definitely turn the princesses into "narcissistic" independent feminists like what they did to Rapunzel in Wreck It Ralph. Rapunzel literally befriended all the men in the og movie and she survived because of Flynn! Her saying that he's "just a big strong man" is so out of character! Disney clearly doesn't study their own characters, that's why the princesses in act so inaccurately in spin-offs especially Aurora.
Honestly, the writing in 90% of big blockbusters are horrible now. I haven’t seen this and not planning on seeing this but I feel like when activism is louder than storytelling you don’t end up with a good movie. You end up being preached at. Again not saying that any of this is in this movie but I hope we get good movies again one day.
Yeah, we are at a low point in entertainment, between the activism and corporatism that has given rise to the neo Marxist corporatism. Strange times indeed.
You’re 41!!!!! Wow I could’ve sworn you were 17 Adam, and I’m sorry you had to watch Wish, here’s for a better movie experience by the end of the year, I won’t watch this unless it’s for free anywhere else
We were promised a 2D animated movie but Disney Animation has forgotten how to make 2D animation so we got this half baked 3D animated movie with a bad filter
I appreciate that you are a Disney fan in general. I am a bit more of a DreamWorks guy myself, but in general I like Disney for sure. It is sort of off-putting when you hear someone bagging on Disney pretty hard despite all the magic Disney has created, at least in general, but like you said maybe not so much as of late. As far of this movie, aw, skip it or maybe give it a see on Disney+ one day.
Disney isn't the same company now. This reanimated corpse hasn't done anything but eat itself for years now. It's not even the failure of a greedy corporation - they're a _caricature_ of a greedy corporation deliberately destroying themselves, apparently for sh*ts and giggles. They took the biggest franchise in the history of entertainment - Star Wars - and deliberately drove away the fan base that made it worth $2B a movie. They bought all of Lucasfilm for $4B, and in 11 years have barely made their money back. They built Marvel into a $2B/movie franchise, then tore it all down. The newest Marvel film is expected to lose money at the box office. They turned Pixar, one of the premiere animated studios, into the modern-day equivalent of a direct-to-video and made-for-tv special studio. Their last in-house animated film, Strange World, lost $250M at the box office, despite being released for Thanksgiving - traditionally a huge day for theaters. Add in that they're remaking all of their old animated classics in unwanted live-action format. Disney has even been slow to update their parks, in fact laid several rotten eggs with new attractions like the Star Wars-themed hotel, a lack of general maintenance, and the general degradation in quality and atmosphere; turning their once-sterling theme parks into the trashy, unsafe sleaze-fests that Walt wanted to avoid. (To top it off, their theme parks are being outdone by DreamWorks owner Universal.) Disney even closed down two well-respected video game studios in LucasArts and Disney Interactive, apparently for no other reason than they didn't feel like being in the video game industry themselves, instead of selling the studios for cash. Wish is just another failure amongst a sea of recent failures. They don't get a free pass just because they _used_ to be good. The Lion King was decades ago. Frozen was a decade ago. Even Moana was nearly a decade ago now. The future of Disney is determined by what they're doing _now._ And what they're doing isn't pretty.
Not showing up for another Disney film unless it’s hand drawn. So sick of every major animated movie ever being CGI. It just doesn’t look as good to me. And yes I know it’s very ironic that my current icon is a CG character but my point still stands.
@JohnAllen-yc5jr, @chasehedges6775m News flash! 90% of movies have always been crap. For every Jurassic Park back in the 90's, you had stuff like Space Jam and Pokemon the first movie. And when you have stuff over the past year or so like Nope, Puss in Boots, John Wick, Dungeons and Dragon, Northman, Oppenheimer, Spiderverse, Guardians 3, Mutant Mayhem, etc (just to name a few, not even including indie films), you sound like someone who complains that there's nothing good but then ignores something when it is actually getting good reception.
@@chasehedges6775 Of course - people should be allowed to praise and also criticize something. I just think Wish is more an example of Disney's bad year and not how movies suck now. Disney is more than capable of creating something memorable like more recent animated movies, or good super hero movies, but they need better talent.
Yeah, what happened to the early bird specials with theatres? Now you need financial aid to see a movie. When I think about it I probably spend forty dollars just on me. The movie ticket and snacks is more than I pay on my streaming services.
Did they increase minimum wage in your area or raise taxes? That’s probably a contributor not to mention the inflation on energy costs, real estate and food. Plus the fact fewer people are going to theaters. Just about everything is absurdly expensive these days.
@@paulieprinceton4550 Well all things considered going to the movies is a luxury. It's really no different than going to the opera. Going to the cinema probably should be somewhat pricey based on the technology used today.

We saw it this evening. It felt like the story wasn’t even finished. The REASON for Magnifico to start the town was based on some supposed family tragedy, the made a little bit about the girl’s dead dad. I don’t know, a LITTLE exposition would’ve been nice.
Movie prices are out of control and we get the most boring and bland entertainment now Yeah I wonder why kids don’t want to go to the movies, they can take naps at home
Movie ticket prices are up 30% to 40% since 2019 and have generally outpaced inflation. Some of this is due to IMAX and special sound/visual theaters plus the additional amenities. But yeah, it’s expensive.
@JubeiSenpai, Ah yes - because plenty of boring and bland entertainment totally didn't exist in the 90s, right? *eye roll* You could always go see good movies when they actually come out, instead of complaining that nothing good exists nowadays.
Great review man, I also liked your collection of the Hogwarts castle and various pictures and knick knacks in the background. just wanted to say those looked nice. 🤘 Regarding "Wish" (really generic title btw for a "Disney" movie lol) I kinda wanted to see it but after seeing how just painfully mid/mediocre the story/animation/music is...I may wait for this one to poop out onto Disney+, Even Sofia the First had better animation than this crap and this is supposed to be the film that celebrated their 100th anniversary of making movies as a studio. I can tell you, if I was Walt Disney, I'd be damned disappointed.
Basically is a movie that wanted to do all the references and check list of what a Disney movide should have and all the movies they could've thought off, but forgot to do an actual movie with something original... Yeah. Modern Disney for you. I am not surprised, I knew this movie was gonna suck. I was right.
"Wish" doesn't feel like a Disney movie. "Wish" feels like a knockoff made in a foreign country that has no record of quality animation but hopes to get there one day.
It's all relative but, 'what am I doing with my life'? Adam your life is immeasurably better than mine. I guarantee it. Oh and i'm older than you. Keep up the great channel.
As a huge Disney fan and someone who works in the 3D animation industry, I agree with you. Disney should be embarrassed for publishing this movie as a feature film. It felt like wizards of the waverly place episode and that's the highest review I can give. However I blame the writers and directors of the movie rather than the animators, musical producers, lighting department or any other production team. The problem wasn't the quality of the production it was mostly in the writing and choices made by the director if you ask me,
I saw it in theaters. It wasn't good. My 4 year old said it was boring and scary. She wanted to leave several times. It is indeed too expensive as well. It was not worth the money at all. I was so excited to go to the theaters with her because I always loved seeing movies at the movie theater. The end of an era I guess...
The movie reflects the modern degenerate wokism that "whatever I want I deserve !". The hero doesn't actually seem like a hero - the king they tried to make as the villain, however to me he seems like the wise, conservative, sane person. A better story would of been that the "hero" realizes that giving everyone exactly what they want very quickly can turn into a sheer hell... much like Bruce Almighty. Then again I guess millennial activists don't view old films with a "white male" as having any value ? Disney is Doomed.
Kids pay $5 here (used to be $4) so for Black Friday they had an offer where everyone payed $5 so me and a friend went to see it. How disappointing honestly. We liked the wishing song and the villain song but there was a huge lack of character development imo. It felt rushed. Having the King be reasonable and then 3 minutes later he's a maniacal bad guy? Talk about a 180. And Asha didnt even get to be the apprentice. I thought we'd see them develop a bit of a master and student relationship first to get us to care about them but nah it just jumps right in and it honestly feels like hardly anything happens?? Also, the goat didn't contribute anything unlike other animal sidekicks in other movies. Him talking was also unnecessary (even if i do like his VA). Lots of unanswered questions too...
In battleground tickets are 5$ on Tuesdays and they have punch cards that get you a free ticket- I’m shocked to hear how expensive it is other places 💀
I think they should remake Lion King. Live action but replace all the lions with people. African actors, brothers and sisters and they can have a pet lion. Also it can be a story about a kingdom and a prince and romance. Please Disney why can't you make a proper movie representing. It would have to be well made.
The animated versions of the iconic Renaissance films were iconic for a reason. like Miyazaki's films, They were iconic and animated for a reason. We needed to invest in those worlds and they made us feel something.
I probably spent 100 dollars maybe less to go see the trench at Alamo draft house with my dad back in june.. That movie was sadly so under viewed compared to the first one from 2018 which made made about 111 million more unadjusted that’s the opposite of the difference between frozen 2 and the first we’re the second one unadjusted from about a year our too ago made maybe about 200 million more then the original frozen.
Out of curiosity would you say you enjoyed this less than Chicken Little or Brother Bear which are the only Disney animated films with lower Rotten Tomatoes scores?
The thing with those movies is, eventhough they are not like by some, it had a soul to it. the creators put some effort. these days, the things disney or many studios put out screams cooperate conveyer belt entertainment
The Disney renaissance began inward Ducktales. No. This movie feels like a movie that was originally going to release in the 50s or the 60s that got cancelled by Walt Disney because he THOUGHT IT WAS TRASH!!! And then they decided to reboot it. It honestly wouldn’t Surprise me if that’s what the movie is.
So theres moana, elsa, and asha.... Disney likes their "uh" sounds at the end of girls names huh? This color palette and animation style look so boring to me too. If this is an unofficial tribute to how ever many years they've been animating then why not do this movie with hand drawings like old times? Now THAT would get people interested. I LOVE Moana, its one of my favorite movies ever, but this looks so boring and unoriginal. Also, they have a cute talking star??? Mario movie anyone? And a talking goat??? ...dreamworks?? Shrek??? Hello?... LOL See! No new ideas. Just another lazy cash grab.
Disney really needs to move away from their Adorkable female lead template. I feel like I've seen Rapunzel in at least 5 different movies now. Prior to Tangled, Disney's lead characters had more distinct personalities. My kids have no interest in this film and I'm personally done until there's a sea-change at Disney.
I'm done with Disney. After they tanked Star Wars, burnt out Marvel, and with Pixar on shaky ground, this was their wheelhouse, feature length animation. And they botched it. Until the Mouse House stops at 1. Doing the same things over and over and/or 2. Inserting social commentary it can't accurately convey, I'm not supporting them anymore
Agree. Sony Pictures Animation and Studio Ghibli are leagues ahead of everyone else. Even DreamWorks had a one-trick pony with the last wish. Ultimately, there are better studios like Netflix originals and the studios I just mentioned. Other than that, DreamWorks is actually falling apart at the seams despite some of its original ideas.
Happy with the short reviews but also enjoy your longer ones also …good to have variety! (And if folks want shorter, you could always edit this one and add it)😉👍
I feel the plot lack of intense punch for overusing twist villain trope , basically the whole movie sounds too generic because overusing an overused Disney tropes

I personally love this I saw it with my daughter and it honestly brought me back to the good old days when I watched Lion King and Aladdin the magic was there for me I appreciated the lessons of interconnectedness and the soundtrack to the movie was great. I highly recommend it's now one of my all time Disney favorites
This comment wasn’t written by a real person was it? The soundtrack was good? Really? All the songs were forgettable and the lyrics were…something. If the vague theme of “interconnectedness” was your biggest takeaway, I think we have a problem.
@@bethanyjohnson8001 it's all subjective. each and every person has their own individual perspective and the right to express their opinions. I appreciate your thoughts on the movie!
There is no reason to ever go to a movie. I'm also about your age, and the costs are now so high that its absurd. Only an 'event' movie would ever get me to even consider going, and Its hard to imagine what kind of movie would even fall into that category nowadays, but it certainly wouldn't be Wish. Also, the ESG in our movies is sometimes an issue, even if it doesn't bother you, its still ridiculous, and is never actually part of the story, but just shoehorned in somewhere to get those Blackrock points. Also that movie pass thing is going to go bankrupt, as there is no possibility that that can work, with these costs.

Lightyear🤮
What do you mean scramble to compete? If anything, Disney was going to make the movie 2D prior but ended up backing out. That was just them being lazy.
Disney needs talent and creativity again instead of people that care more about being activist.
Bob Iger keeps doubling down though so I think he has a personal mission to kill the company.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 He wants to run for president. He does not care a damn for progressive politics or actual diversity.
The New Adam Sandler film "Leo" has more of a Disney Pixar feel to it than this crap
This is the kind of movie competitors used to make in an effort to look like a Disney movie, but coming out as generic princess movie.
TRUE
It’s a generic product
Yeah back in the 90s, Disney was THE competition that everyone else wanted to be like. That's why you had movies like The Swan Princess, The Quest for Camelot, Thumbelina and Anastasia, the last two being from a former Disney animator (a certain someone named Don Bluth) no less. It seems like Sony has since snatched the animation crown with the Spiderverse films.
In the preview they has the creators talking about the movie and how original it is. My first reaction was to laugh out loud in the movie theatre. I love and want to work for disney, but some of their movies are terrible.
You'll never make it at Disney. You have to kiss ass and support everything they do without any kind of criticism at all times.

I heard someone say that this movie is meant to be CGI that looks like hand drawn animation. To me it looks like obvious CGI.
I'm just sticking with classic shit from my childhood instead of watching this new, watered-down garbage from Disney.

They mentioned Chris Pine in the Pinocchio remake. The wish of a puppet becoming alive.
A mom and her young son fell asleep next to me. Enough said.
That is just sad
They need to hire voice actors. Period.
Yeeaahh, they keep taking the wrong lessons away from celebrity voice casting. It only works in very few instances. Voice actors do this for a living and are, more often than not, leagues better!
No matter how talented, actors cannot fix bad scripts.

WTH
It felt like an AI generated Disney movie
At least we got Once Upon A Studio! So that's something.
@icarus, Nothing? Are you forgetting about Once Upon A Studio?
'' and the villain's song 😐
- Asha's friends are not developped so i didn't care about them.
The style is intriguing at least, but even then I wouldn't call it good. If you're going for a 2d traditional style, just do traditional 2d!
So like the Avengers, but they're all Disney Princesses. Maybe if Disney confirms Tangled and Frozen are in the same world and make a movie about it.
Happy Birthday Adam, you are awesome. We are all navigating this crazy thing in life. You are loved and awesometacular!
Honestly, the writing in 90% of big blockbusters are horrible now.
True
(To top it off, their theme parks are being outdone by DreamWorks owner Universal.)
Disney even closed down two well-respected video game studios in LucasArts and Disney Interactive, apparently for no other reason than they didn't feel like being in the video game industry themselves, instead of selling the studios for cash.

I can tell you, if I was Walt Disney, I'd be damned disappointed.
Basically is a movie that wanted to do all the references and check list of what a Disney movide should have and all the movies they could've thought off, but forgot to do an actual movie with something original... The problem wasn't the quality of the production it was mostly in the writing and choices made by the director if you ask me,
This guy's hoarding wishes and not doing something with them? Sounds like The Completionist.
It looks so bleached and flat, I can see that just from your flashes.

I thought we'd see them develop a bit of a master and student relationship first to get us to care about them but nah it just jumps right in and it honestly feels like hardly anything happens?? I think they should remake Lion King. Live action but replace all the lions with people. African actors, brothers and sisters and they can have a pet lion. Also it can be a story about a kingdom and a prince and romance. Please Disney why can't you make a proper movie representing. It would have to be well made.

Out of curiosity would you say you enjoyed this less than Chicken Little or Brother Bear which are the only Disney animated films with lower Rotten Tomatoes scores?
Of course, Brother bear was my favourite movie as a child. Chicken little wasn’t that bad, I don’t know why people hate it.
Shrek??? Hello?... LOL
See!
