I just came back from science camp this morning and I cried because I knew that I will never come back unless I became a cabin leader, I also cried when I sang this song with my whole camp last night. Good memories :)
Omg. I’m 16 right now. I went to Camp Cambell, I went for my 5th grade graduation trip before we went off too middle school(mind you it’s 2023 and this was in 2017) damn it’s really been so long… I cried many times thinking back to this song when me and my classmates sat together. I’m so happy I get to hear it one more time.

It has been more than 10 years since I heard this song in camp, I think 4th or 5th grade. I had to fight back tears when I first heard it, we were singing by a campfire on the final night. It just popped into my head today, can't believe more people know it! I'm in college now, and the song still rings true today.

I remember on the final day of camp when everyone did either a skit or a song, dragonfly cabin did a song and it was so special. It was a parody of "story of my life." It was so beautiful and sad. I am now moving away from California, and Camp Campbell is one of the places I will miss the most. I am so sad that I didn't get to go in the last two years because of COVID. I also really miss hearing the long YMCA song, because by now I think I've already forgotten it.

I went to camp 4 days ago and I went to camp Campbell and in class we are writing about our memories at camp before they fade away.🥺😩😢😫😩🥺😭😭😭😭 if only I could go back one last time.... my camp name was Robin. Their were other names like hawk, squirrel, frog and more By the way, who had Angel and Stassya as their field teachers? Did any of you play camouflage? If you didn’t then the person that’s it usually counts to 20 or 30 and the players hide. The person who is it can only take one step from their position throughout the whole but they can take a step as many times as they want but once finished looking in that area, you step back to where you were. Then after the person that’s it can’t find anyone they say the first number is up and let’s say they put up a three and the the players have to peek to see the number and memorize that three and remember that it’s the first number. If the person who is it catch’s you peeking, then you’re out. If the person who is it only sees a piece of clothing the person hiding, then you describe what they are wearing. If you can tell who the person is, call out their name. Then, later on, the person who is it will say 2nd number is up! And let’s say they put up a 9. Then you have to memorize that the number is 9 and that it is the 2nd number. the person who is it always puts up three numbers. The leftover people that weren’t caught go in a line, shoulder to shoulder. And the seeker says put up the first number. Then the surviving people put the three behind there lower back and the person who was it checks if it is correct. If you get all three correct you are the winner or one of the winners.

I Came home from Science Camp on November 22 and the last day they sang this song I cried in tears cause I didn’t want to leave and my friends were cheering me up but it didn’t help and my Nature name was Tiger and my cabin name was Salamanders and My canon leaders were Ember,Bambi,Sky,and Aurora and the camp had a Song about the Salamanders and I cried even more and the song was called Silly Salamander Song and I cried so much and when we left all the Cabin leaders were outside so we can give Them a goodbye when I went to give my cabin leaders a goodbye I was embarrassed cause I was crying I’ll never Forget Science Camp it was a Great experience 😭❣️

I went last week (December 9th, 2015) and at the end we sang this song and I new this was the last song we will sing at camp and I almost started crying because we had to leave although some some people were smiling, lots of people were nearly crying like me. Ayo just got back from camp ymca at boulder creek. I was in the dragonfly cabin, and I want to thank some people from the camp. My naturalist was Matthew, I just want to say that you teach the coolest subject and thanks for using your time to give us a proper education while trying to make it fun the same time. Also thank you Tasmanian Devil from the hawk cabin for coming up with all the repeat after me songs. These were fun. Anyways, I just want to thank everyone for coming up with the fun activities and the hikes. When I hear this song, it brings back so much memories.😢
I remember on the final day of camp when everyone did either a skit or a song, dragonfly cabin did a song and it was so special. It was a parody of "story of my life." It was so beautiful and sad. I am now moving away from California, and Camp Campbell is one of the places I will miss the most. I am so sad that I didn't get to go in the last two years because of COVID. I also really miss hearing the long YMCA song, because by now I think I've already forgotten it.

By the way, who had Angel and Stassya as their field teachers? Did any of you play camouflage? If you didn’t then the person that’s it usually counts to 20 or 30 and the players hide. The person who is it can only take one step from their position throughout the whole but they can take a step as many times as they want but once finished looking in that area, you step back to where you were. Then after the person that’s it can’t find anyone they say the first number is up and let’s say they put up a three and the the players have to peek to see the number and memorize that three and remember that it’s the first number. If the person who is it catch’s you peeking, then you’re out. If the person who is it only sees a piece of clothing the person hiding, then you describe what they are wearing. If you can tell who the person is, call out their name. Then, later on, the person who is it will say 2nd number is up! And let’s say they put up a 9. Then you have to memorize that the number is 9 and that it is the 2nd number. the person who is it always puts up three numbers. The leftover people that weren’t caught go in a line, shoulder to shoulder. And the seeker says put up the first number. Then the surviving people put the three behind there lower back and the person who was it checks if it is correct. If you get all three correct you are the winner or one of the winners.
