This song has always hit me in my core. It's so hard to believe how fast time goes. I love to listen to this song and reflect on how much fun I had as a Girl Scout for times were so much more simpler. I am 51 years old now and it seems like yesterday.
I certainly know that feeling.... While being 32 and growing up at camp and not being back since I was a teenager for reasons I can't discuss here---- I miss it so much... it literally saved my life!!! Love camp always!
We camped all over. The best was when we went to the World's Fair in Knoxville in 1982. Huge trip for us. We came from Ill. We camped in Indiana and Tennessee. Lots of local camping here in Illinois. Great memories.
Yes in my late 40s and we sang this at Girl Scout Camp and church camp. I do miss those days. Others we used to sing was One Tin Soldier, Barges, and Magic.
We just got back from yosemite national park and one of the rangers played this for my kids. They requested I look for it on RUclips, your version is the closest I found to Ranger April's version. Thank u and keep up the good work.
This is one of my favorites. This is the version I found anywhere that is closest to how we sing it at Camp Greene Wood Girl Scout Camp in Illinois. The main difference is that we add an e minor chord in between the C Chord and G Chord - like switching to e minor during the word “mountain,” and “life,” and “see,” (etc.) It adds a really nice touch of the richness of the chords and the meaning and emphasis/importance of the words that land in that minor moment. You play it gently with care and respect, and I appreciate that. Thank you so much for soothing my soul when I wasn’t ready to leave camp for the final time this summer season. 💜
On the loose to climb a mountain, On the loose where I am free, On the loose to live my life the way I think my life should be. For I only have a moment, and a whole world yet to see. I'll be looking for tomorrow on the loose. Have you ever seen the sunrise turn the sky completely red? Have you slept beneath the moon and stars, a pine bough for your bed? Have you sat and talked with friends, though a word was never said? Then you're just like me and you've been on the loose. - Chorus There's a trail that I'll be hiking just to see where it might go, Many places yet to visit, many people yet to know. For in following my dreams, I will live and I will grow, In a world that's waiting out there on the loose. - Chorus So in search of love and laughter, I am traveling across this land. Never sure of where I'm going, for I haven't any plan. Anytime when you are ready, come and join me take my hand. And together we'll share life out there on the loose. - Chorus As I sit and watch the sunset and the daylight slowly fades, I am thinking of tomorrow, and the friendships I have made. I will treasure them for always, and I hope that you'll do the same. And forever we'll share life out on the loose. - Chorus Now the moon is gently glowing and the stars are twinkling bright Our laughter and our friendship has cleared the cloudy night Come and join our flickering campfire, come and sing our happy songs Come and we'll live our lives together on the loose - Chorus

You have a beautiful voice.

My Girl Scout camp home is closing, and I've been wanting to relearn some of my favorite songs, to sing to my kiddos. Thanks
A friend sent this song to me with your link, and I really like it. Thanks for posting it.
Does your sweatshirt say Mosey Wood?
Awesome :) What chords are you using?
