      +KINGRAYRAY Do you really think an oscar is what drives Leo. No way! Greatness drives Leo. He could care less about winning an award. Of course he'll like to finally win an Oscar but he won't get lazy.

      +xxman26utdxx lol you make Leonardo DiCaprio sound like a legendary hero.

    • @xxman26utdxx
      @xxman26utdxx 8 лет назад +6

      CrystalJupiter Nah just speaking the truth. This analogy is used in sports a lot. He's chasing greatness. Awards don't define him as an actor. He's already the best in the world at what he does without winning an Oscar. Doubt he's losing any sleep over not winning one, he's gotta other things to worry about.

    • @CrystalJupiter
      @CrystalJupiter 8 лет назад +1

      He's not my personal favorite actor but he's made a lot of good stuff.
      I'm pulling for Fassbender, but I would be totally ok with seeing Leo take one home for being looked over for some of his best performances.
      The quaaludes scene alone in WoWs was awards worthy, I'll say that.

So, for sure; I've heard great reviews of Spotlight, but base on the movies that I've seen so far I think (hope) the The Revenant deserves that honor, their is a lot of work, passion, dedication, pacience and talent behind each frame on this film. Just my humble opinion. Good day to all :) See you at the Oscars :)

    • @brianjones8432
      @brianjones8432 8 лет назад

      ***** Yeah, right now I'm torn on best picture, but I think Fassbender has best actor in the bag.
      Revenant has best cinematography in the bag..... every damn frame of that film you could hang on the wall as a piece of art.
      Probably Hateful Eight for best screenplay, although Steve Jobs is right there in the running for that as well.
      Best supporting is a stacked category this year... could Tom Hardy win for supporting himself? JK...... Legend had a few flaws, but his performance wasn't one of them. Possibly Jeff Daniels as well.
      I could see Inarritu getting best director if the academy decides to factor in the lengths they had to go to on that shoot.
      Will just have to see what the nominations are and then I can start second guessing everything after that. :)

    Incredible movie with one of the best directors of all times and an outstanding cast starting with DiCaprio. I remember watching a documentary about Ingmar Bergman and Iñárritu was one of the die hard fans of the Swedish master of cinema. All I want to say is that regardless the size of the production there is still good cinema and this movie is a true gem. The music by Sakamoto, the photography carefully crafted by El Chivo, the landscapes and even the solitude are the main characters of this movie

    I finally saw the movie yesterday and it moved me very deeply. As Alejandro explains at the beginning of the video, this time in history is really painful and I can not even imagine what the natives of my country felt and witness when the europeans came to America. The bond of son and father was incredibly touching. The images were really spectacular. I am very happy that I was able to see it, I love Alejandro's dramatic movies a lot, "Amore Perros" is also a masterpiece, highly recommended.

      Jack Houlihan Yes im well aware of that. and thats all anyone can seem to say. but non the less. his acting wasnt bad, it just wasnt anything like what people say it is.. same goes for the film.. i cant understand why there is so much hype for basically an ok film.

    • @darkcountry3670
      @darkcountry3670 8 лет назад +5

    • @isaywhateveryonereallythin464
      @isaywhateveryonereallythin464 8 лет назад +1

      Jack Houlihan Id have taken DiCaprio out all together. his long greasy hair and blue eyes, didnt fit into the scenes at all. he just seemed out of place. his accent was pretty bad too considering he is american anyway... but i agree he acted how he was meant to, which is another reason why the film is crap.

    Leo's true passion showing up at the end of the video. You can see how much he cares about the environment. As for the Oscars, I think at this point we're all more concerned about Leo winning the Oscar than himself. The film altogether is wonderful. Go Chivo!! You're a master at your craft!!

    Im very excited to see the film and Im sure its going to be amazing. That being said, as a fan of the book, Im not sure why they felt the need to add in the father/son dynamic to the story. i find it interesting that Smith said that they wanted to 'explore humanity" and that it couldnt be a "simple revenge story", so they added the father/son element. But the real story (this is based on a real person) is that that man DID crawl his way out of death and across the Louisianna purchase because of revenge. And he didnt have to have a murdered son to have the will to survive- the fact that his crew mates robbed him of his kit and left him to die at the hands of a brutal enemy was plenty motive for him. So as I said- totally excited to see this movie, but I always find it intersteing that Hollywood feels the need to tinker with history. Life is interesting enough in itself- Hugh Glass' s story is gut-wrenching and beautiful and 100 percent "human", just as it is... adding in a killing a kid for emotive purposes just wasnt needed IMO.

    Lewesky's cinematography is extraordinary. The lighting reminds me of acclaimed Cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa.

    Fassbender as Steve Jobs, not interested. Redmayne as a transgender, not interested.
    Leonardo gave his all in this film and I have to say, the hype for this film is well deserved. The cast overall from him to Hardy, from Gleeson to Poulter. They went above and beyond the call of duty here and the environment was as essential to the story as the journey to survive and seek revenge itself. I just saw it an hour ago...Oh my fucking God!!!! :D
    This is a great film and I have to say, Inarritu's best work yet. Better than Birdman? You bet your asses!!

      soyhard deren Braving the elements does not a "great performance" make. While I agree he will be nominated again, he likely will be walking home empty handed. The Jobs portrayal by Fassbender was honestly a stronger performance. I also wouldn't be surprised if Steve Jobs wins for best screenplay as well, unless Hateful Eight gets it.

      Brian Jones Here's the thing about the Steve Jobs movie. Fassbender is a great actor, but in the spirit of a conversation, why should it get the Oscar or even sweep the Golden Globes for a biopic about Jobs which I still think is too soon after his death to be portrayed on screen? Remember, the last film about him with Kutcher met with luke warm reception. Is the screenplay that different from the 2013 film?

      havent seen Jobs, but fassbender is great, i know that. no i think Leo was strong in Revenant.. not much dialoge, but a great performance nevertheless.

    Titanic was the best and worst thing that could have happened to Leo. He could have stayed in the pop vein of movies but "departed" to another route. He was on that path before Titanic. The female success of Titanic is what Leo had to overcome, and he has. Men are jealous of this iconic success and have a difficult time accepting his masculinity. Redford had a similar career path to Leo. Brad Pitt also could have been locked, but also never let the face become the whole. His Jessie James movie had a similar feel to this movie.

    @Seeking Simplicity it wasn't just a "killing of a kid". They portrayed the important relationship between a father and a son who's mother was considered the enemy. The kid suffers the same discrimination suffered by many biracial people in today's world. The lessons Glass teaches his son are meant for his own survival. These are both heartbreaking and at times confusing to his son.

    Academy, should give the oscar to Leo, 2 years ago, for the main role in "The Wolf of Wall Street", i think, there was a lot more acting, a lot more.
    And speaking of "The Revenant", if finally, Leo is gonna win, it's not gonna be normal. I'm not telling, that Leo didn't deserved, i'm telling, that you should give the award at his time.

    The Revenant is pratically perfect, for me it could deserve at lest two more Oscars (Best Film and Best Supporting Actor to Tom Hardy). I don't understand why you of AMPAS have voted Spotlight as Best Picture. Yes, it's a good film, but it's so far from the levels of Revenant or Mad Max: Fury Road, the only other one film that could be the "Best Picture".

    That's all I read about for many years, frontier, pioneer life, Native American cultures, Lewis and Clark and Sacajawea, the lives of mountain men, etc. I often wonder if maybe I reincarnated from those times.
    During a raid in 1836, Comanche, Kiowa, and Caddo Indians in Texas kidnapped 7 year old Cynthia Ann Parker and kill her family and is adopted into the Comanche tribe along with her 5 year old brother John and cousin Rachel. John is adopted into another tribe, and cousin Rachel Plummer doesn't fair as well.
    Renamed Nadua ('she keeps warm with us'), she (and her brother) lived very happy lives for over 25 years with the Comanches. Nadua married a young warrior named Peta Nocona and had three children, two boys and a girl. One of her son's is the famous Quanah Parker (last of the free Comanches), and lived until 1911.
    Anyway, Texas Rangers recaptured Nadua (Cynthia) and force her to live with the Whites. She died not long after, some believe of a broken heart from being taken away. I have been hoping that someone would make a movie of her life, like they did with "Dances With Wolves," another book I read a few years before the movie was released.
    If any movie director or producer needs information about Cynthia Ann Parker, I suggest you read "RIDE THE WIND" by Lucia St. Clair Robson. The paper back is filled with many details of the Cynthia's and the tribes daily life. You won't want to stop reading. Amazon sells it for $4.00.
    Remember to choose the cast well, especially Cynthia's and Nocona parts. You will ruin the movie otherwise.
