I love the feelin i get, when i leave a hot and stuffy niteclub, at around 5am in the mornin and i am welcomed by a loverly blast of cold air! Bliss! In contrast, i also love lookin out of my 14th story flat's window at the sea, here where i live in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear! My beautiful view is priceless, especially when there is a mist waftin in from the North sea! However, i still have many happy memories of the 19 years i lived in Blackpool,with my late hubby, Tony! .... Thank you for another geat vlog, Stephen! xxxx
Those red phone boxes are iconic. Been there since at least the 70's, probably well before. I remember standing with my parents, queuing up for ages, waiting for the person already in there for their pips to go so you could call relatives back home, 2 hrs away to report on the weather. Great days.
It was a good sized big PO too - been in it many times.

Brings back lots of memories. Early 1970's I was an electrician working nights at British Home Stores Blackpool and we finished about 6.00am. I sometimes walked around the town, it was a little surreal. You could still get a cup of tea and a bacon butty from a number of places, even at that hour. Nice to see it 50 years later. Good video.

Love this video - some great memories from living there back in the 70's. Abingdon Street general Post Office where my Dad did his Postmaster training, Sacred Heart church where we went for Midnight Mass - so many changes but still very much as it was all those years ago!

Do you remember that opposite the tower was Bins department store that I think shut down in the 90’s.
Up from the rock shop was one of the 4 exits from the old hounds hill centre that I used to go roller booting in back in 1984, used to have Beaties the toy shop on the opposite side.
Wow how the town centre has changed over the years.

Love Blackpool took my daughter to the nickelodeon slime fest the first time and spent the second time in the pleasure beach. I've stayed at a couple of bed and breakfast places, the Carlton and the Henson hotel. Best holiday destination in the UK 🇬🇧. Can't wait to visit again very soon I hope. Thanks for sharing your videos

Brilliant xx really takes me back to my 20's xx walked those streets (not in that sense!!!) many times early in the mornings because I worked in hospitality. Been in that post office countless times, I think there used to be a roast chicken kind of shop close by too. Thank you for the memories.

Husband use to go a lot to Blackpool as a child in 70s and 80s his nan grandad lived in chorley , sad to see back streets gone down hill use to be busy

So sad to see so many shops closed down- a sign of the times, I suppose. I last visited 40 years ago. I suspect I'll never visit again as I'm an exiled Englishman living in New Zealand. Flaxen Saxon.

Yes there was a yates, too hot to handle strip club and a subway lol . I used to work there it was mental 😅

I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure I once saw a TV programme about Fred Dibnah going to Blackpool and I think it featured him climbing that steeple you mentioned. By the way, did you find out what that thing was in the sea, next to the buoy?
A good time to visit then. Very good moon photo indeed. Was that chap leaning on a wall relieving himself? Is it time you did a video whilst going up the tower in a lift? virtual ascent for us watchers.

Do you think the councils plan to move away from stag and hen be successful? I personally dont think Blackpool has the pull to be a fully family orientated resort. This could see quite a few bnbs going out of business. I could be wrong, just my opinion. Ps another great vid 👍

Yeah I wish they'd left it as it was because this carbuncle they reduced it to is about as bland as Gary Lineker.
Can’t believe WHSmiths is gone, it was there since I was a kid and now it’s gone, same as KFC. I remember Lewis’s as a kid, it was amazing. Some memorable places such as FineFare, remember that? Remember Binns? Tons of amazing places.
Haven’t seen one of those sun screens for years.They were always on the windows of a “posher shop😂”

Stunning photo of the "Pier Moon!" I'm wondering how long it took to have the right conditions (especially the weather) to get the shot? Have you thought about doing videos explaining how you get the shots you take? There's a RUclips channel by a chap called Thomas Heaton who travels around taking landscapes. Just a thought as an extra vlog idea if you're already out and about...
I'm guessing the tram works are to put up cables to hold the power lines up along to the station hence the two cherry pickers, I'm staying in the Premier Inn next week so will see if there's anything changed from your video! 😂

Can you remember a small snooker hall near the tower, from what I remember it was really near the tobacconists shop ''smokers choice'' - Pretty sure also you went down stair to it, I was only ever in it once around 1988/89 ish, nobody ever remembers it.
Amazing if your able to do this, especially that early and in season, then witness the atmosphere build as the morning/day progresses. There is literally a hum of happiness, I beg anyone to match or even try to beat this town 👍🏻
I'm born and raised in Bpool. It's not that good lol.
I remember the hum of excitement in the mornings as the town opened for another day of business but in my view that disappeared years ago as the former jewel of the Fylde Coast sunk into irreversible decline in the 90s. It has sadly become a rather tragic place and it gives me no pleasure to say that. The overall impression in the town is one of gloom and hopelessness despite the new hotels and conference centre. Even the town centre has a look of absoute desperation about it. The closure of WH Smith came as a shock to me. For a long-established business of that nature to pull out of Blackpool is a stark indication of how bad things have really become. I'm sorry to be so negative.

There always seems to be an extra sense of desolation about seaside towns at early morning....one gratifying thing is not much rubbish on the streets.....
The council are always on the ball regarding street litter in the early hours.
Yellow window screens used to see them in chemist's shop windows usually accompanied by a dead fly and a single flip flop

The moon is beautiful I went up ro the beach to see it better, oh I love blackpool, I being here 27years and this is my home, sad so many shops are empty, and the council should be making people who own the property to sort ot out enjoy your day take care💜

Yes, there was Binns. The building is just opposite the entrance to the Tower.

personally i find dawn the best time for this kind of filming you have a good 30 mins really and it look stunning on a good day

You can usually see how well a town does on the shitometer by counting the Pound shops. Where I live in the South has 4. That’s up in the red. It is almost unparalleled in its shittery. I was born there, went away to college and a few other things and now I’m back…….fuck, lol.
