Subtle spell would be very good on the antimage, being able to cast spells, including counter spells, without giving away that you are casting it nor giving them an opportunity to counter you
The wild mage pacifist actually sounds like a really cool concept, maybe you could work with your dm to make your tides of chaos actually substantial in their effects; think level 1 fireball but more often, that way you arent afraid of flowers sprouting out of your ears as opposed to spontaneous thunderwaves when all you want to do is cast dancing lights.
I always thought some home brewed wild surge tables that fit the characters theme would help to make a wild mage really individual, I figure those surges are as much a part of the character as the other parts.
Firetrap alternate to the paladin 2 lvls is Hexblade. Fiendsih Vigor, Devil Sight, Hex Warrior and Hexblade Curse all combo well with the melee sorc. Take Shield, Fear-Smite and Expeditious Retreat or something for the 2nd lvl. Get even moar cantrips (including Toll the Dead to condemn cowards who flee your flaming blade). Also the new Mind Sliver cantrip might be useful on any of these builds, if it can be fit. A cantrip to give -1d4 to saves against your spells is pretty dang useful for Pacifists (does it *really* count if it's psychic damage?), Mage Hunters and Spellcutters, dependant on choosing spells with saves, obviously (cough Toll the Dead cough).
my favourite build is a sorceror who tanks, divine soul, pick spells like thunderwave, sanctuary and inflict wounds. Twin spelling inflict wounds is evil.
Have you considered other unconventional aspects of the game? For example, I'd love to see your insights on how to effectively use skills in combat. Especially paired with something like Mastermind Rogue or Lore Bard, your party could get up to some feisty hijinks.
Good suggestions! I agree that 2 levels of paladin can be great for a sorcerer. My favourite sorcerer build idea at the moment is storm sorcerer with 2 levels of paladin. The perks of storm sorcerer work very well for a melee caster as they grant additional defences (resistances), mobility, and a secondary source of damage with your free aoe explosions. Thunderstep looks so much fun to use in this setup. You can also set your character up to have 5 permanent resistances by making a Tiefling and picking up infernal constitution (fire, lightning, thunder, cold, and poison resistances). Add to this the fact that you can use full plate, the defence fighting style, and shield, and you’ve got a sorcerer that can cope pretty well in melee.
So I was a new player in an underdark campaign, and the dm suggest having dark sight. So instead of playing any of the regular races with dark sight. I picked Dragonborn shadow sorcerer. And at 4th level picked up dragon hide as a racial feat. It was beautiful.
OD-X Dexadin is kinda unconventional. I like the combo of moon Druid and/or barbarian with a paladin. Divine Smite isn’t a spell so you can use it while raging and while wild shaped.
I actually love the idea of a divine soul sorcerer who is supposed to destroy the world, like an avatar of a destroyer god or servant of a fiend. They don’t want to hurt anything so they try to never use destructive magic to not fall down the dark path laid out for them
Awesome video! We actually have two sorcerers in our party. We have a first-time player joining us tonight and I came up with the concept of having a wild magic sorcerer with short-term memory and amnesia that came as a result of one of her wild magic surges. I am also playing a Divine protector Aasimar. She has pretty much been on the run her entire life, but she'll will eventually find out she was unknowingly signed into her pregnant mother's Hexblade contract when their family's home was attacked the night she was born. Atm she is currently being chased by a cult, so she is starting down a mage slayer path to counter the cult by taking Subtle meta magic to go with Silence and Counterspell. Eventually once I get into Hexblade I'd love to go melee with a quarterstaff or or a double bladed staff as my weapon. Only thing is I am currently at level 3 now wondering what feats/stat bumps I want to take with my score of: 12 (Str), 11 (Int), 14 (Dex), 15 (con), 14 (Wis), 19 (Cha) I am currently thinking: Actor feat with mask of many faces or +1 Cha and Con Aasimar Angelic protection feat (adv on saving throws and other magical effects) +2 Dex or magic initiate/PAM Warcaster Then for my level 3 dip I am thinking I'll a tad unconventional by getting a tome pact with agonising blast and either the Book of Shadows or Mask of Many Faces. My main struggle is that I love the idea of having a massive toolset of cantrips (with some rituals to boot) at her disposal, but the idea of going in and out of disguise as an Aasimar on the run sounds too tasty to let up! I have considered giving up Agonising Blast, but that seems counterproductive, just as going extra levels in hexblade does. Gaaaah!!!!! If you or anyone else have any suggestions for how I move forward I'd love to hear them.
Magic initiate means extra cantrips. Blade pact is probably better if you want to be a staff fighter, as such polearm master feat helps for a bonus attack. i would personally go 5 lvs into hexblade as it grants elemental weapon.
Holy shit this was a great vid man, I love the anti-magic one the most, I have no mean to rush you but my group has a new campaign starting in two weeks, do you think we will see the Ferra/Torr before then?
Hey Bard. when watching the unconventional valor bard i suddenly got the idea of a ranged sword bard. i mean Blade flourish works even on ranged weapons (even the slashing flourish). also an crazy spell idea that one could use for bards that uses ranged or melee weapon: Tenser's Transformation. 1-2 (or 2-3 for sword/valor) of the spells powers are mostly useless for you but the remaining rest of the effects are totally worth it even for the risk that may happens when the spells ends.
Hey there, nice to have you with us. Hope you enjoyed. I will cover every class, eventually. Cleric is up next and fighter will probably follow , but I've been wanting to talk about barbarians for a while. So many classes and requests to get through you know :)
2nd! Sorcerer has been my favorite class since my first character was a Sorcerer with his second highest stat being intelligence since I had no idea what I was doing. Lol
Yea, I started about 2 years ago playing 5e. Ever since then I have played a lot of games, watched critical role, and started playing Adventurers League too. I think I love Sorcerer for their innate ability to cast spells and their metamagic is extremely fun and flexible.
Hey DB, I'd love to hear your take on a character build concept I'll likely be taking through my next campaign, starting at level 5. The elevator pitch is: Lightning Dragon Sorcerer Swashbuckler I've always been a fan of Gish builds. Gish with rogue is a *little* unorthodox, but there are some neat synergies that I hope to make use of. First is dexterity as a primary stat with draconic resilience. One problem with gish is that magic users are usually on the squishy side. But the high AC, boost to HP provided by this ability, defensive spells, and uncanny dodge at later levels should make him pretty survivable. Second is booming blade combined with twin/quicken spell to make for an flurry of strikes infused with magic. Combined with fancy footwork and cunning action dash, I picture a classic swashbuckling, ambush-focused fighting style of jumping in an out of combat (bonus coolness points because booming blade makes it painful for them to follow). A bit down the line, this will become even cooler with elemental affinity The original idea was always a rogue/sorcerer, and I toyed with arcane trickster and shadow or storm sorcerer combinations. I'd love to hear your take on which you think would be the coolest, and I'm open to changing, but this was the combination that I found most compelling in both mechanics and story potential.
Very cool idea, The best idea is the one that captures your imagination. One of the problems I can see is Lightning dragon and Booming blade is thunder and thunder and lightning are considered two different energy sources in this edition. However, you could use fire with green flame blade. that works I know. I like shadow but it's not giving your character that much. Booming blade with storm sorc can work thematically but it lacks in mechanical compound effects.
I noticed glancing at the catalog that you haven't done much with Clerics. You might start thinking about those as a challenge to fill out the classes you've covered. Wizard & Fighter have been low in your videos too. Though fighter has been in many of your multiclass builds & at least one Mortal Kombat build. Wizard you addressed with the Diviner is a better Necromancer build. Cleric I am sure you have used in a multiclass build somewhere but I no longer remember where now. You have a great community here Bard & your make some great wisecracks too. [FISTBUMP]
You are very welcome. Please don't sell yourself short friend. You are also very welcome as I said I have gotten several fun ideas from these videos and am happy to support you. :) I would also like to make a request if that is alright for a future video, can you do a Bard of Blades Collage, please. :)
I thought this one through in a thread the other day. Lots of posts wanted to make Wick a Fighter or Rogue. I thought about it, and decided that Sorc probably fit best. V.Human taking Magic Initiate to snag Eldritch Blast. His "gun" is simply a casting focus, in the same way that a wand is. He can twin EB at low levels, since it only has one blast, and maximize his Sorc Points. Past lvl 5, he'll have to quicken it, since it makes more than one attack per casting. He might use a Shield spell, since he's not actually wearing armor. Thematically, I'd just say that's the mechanism behind his amazing ability to not die. He's also got some serious hand-to-hand, which I'd just use Shocking Grasp or Sword Burst (I think it's called). Basically, I wouldn't use upper level spells much. I'd be sacking them for Sorc Points as I used them up. At his core, he's a shooter and really good at it. So I envision using most of his resources to simply keep himself shooting. Being able to sustain 8 separate attacks per round, each d10, at 120 range, for round after round after round... That's pretty strong.
Hey there, what would be your take on a deamon/devil conjurer? I've seen your Video with the Warlock Demologist but I can't see how to stay in pace with the other players without spellslot progression on my signature-spells (Summon lesser demon/summon greater demon/Infernal Calling) My way around this was Lorebard but would you go Wizzard, Bard, Warlock or maybe even cleric? And how about a sorcerer multiclass (subtle spell -> don't get caught while summoning "the devil" in the middle ot the city & extended spell + Planar Binding for long living and easy to control minions when you have enough gold would both be quite nice)
the other classes tend to be better on their own. Diviner is probably your safe bet. even if conjurer offers extra hp the portent + banishment combo can be amazing for dismissing devils that get out of your control, or simply use portent + planar binding. if you want to stick with warlock the 3 lvs of sorc is all you need to get heighten spell for disadvantage on saves but that locks only real defence is chains of carceri.
Hi, short version of this request, can you please do a review of this class? www.dmsguild.com/product/244806/The-Witch?filters=45471_0_0_0_0_0_0_0 full version request, its a witch class for 5e, and rather than make what could just be a wizard variant the author has come up with a really unique way of using a spellcaster. I genuinely believe this should be made an official class. I have never played a fully homebrewed class before and I starting a new campaign in the next month or 2 (depended on DM). while I do tend to play more to a story rather than what will be OP I'd still like to get another perspective on if its good or if there's something I've missed and any creative way to play it. after watching you videos of a while now I really do think you'd be able to give a decent evaluation. If so, Thank you : ) If not, oh well, but still great channel mate : )
Woo-Hoo!!! Thanks Bard. You're my favorite, like smiling but different. ;-p
Subtle spell would be very good on the antimage, being able to cast spells, including counter spells, without giving away that you are casting it nor giving them an opportunity to counter you
L0rd_of_cows also distance spell. I know it kinda sucks but you can double the range of counter spell.
I appreciate the "Land of Confusion" in your transition.

Good shout, i will consider some videos on the topic.

Sorcerer and Wizards still share A LOT of spells on their shared spells list
My Antimage idea got the Bard treatment...I am excited to try this out.
Another great video! Found the anti-caster sorc idea very intriguing.
Ahhh, your too nice to me :)
Mountain Dwarf Divine Soul - Playing him like a 3/3.5 Favored Soul.
I really like these unconventional build videos. Perhaps a fighter one or a wizard one?
So I was a new player in an underdark campaign, and the dm suggest having dark sight. So instead of playing any of the regular races with dark sight. I picked Dragonborn shadow sorcerer. And at 4th level picked up dragon hide as a racial feat. It was beautiful.
Mmmm an unconventional pally build next maybe. Great work Bard as usual mate
I built a Dexadin, would you consider that an uncoventional Pally???
OD-X Dexadin is kinda unconventional. I like the combo of moon Druid and/or barbarian with a paladin. Divine Smite isn’t a spell so you can use it while raging and while wild shaped.
Fantastic! I have a player who is considering a melee sorcerer, so your analysis here might give her some ideas. Thanks!
I actually love the idea of a divine soul sorcerer who is supposed to destroy the world, like an avatar of a destroyer god or servant of a fiend. They don’t want to hurt anything so they try to never use destructive magic to not fall down the dark path laid out for them
You missed to mention one of the best spellcaster shutdown spell: Silence
Senki99
Sickening Radiance with Careful Spell can weaken but not necessarily kill opponents, bearing in mind the 4d10 radiant damage.
Neither Sorc nor pally get silence, that's why it was left out.
Now I can be a melee Kobold without the strength drawback!
Awesome video! We actually have two sorcerers in our party. We have a first-time player joining us tonight and I came up with the concept of having a wild magic sorcerer with short-term memory and amnesia that came as a result of one of her wild magic surges.

12 (Str), 11 (Int), 14 (Dex), 15 (con), 14 (Wis), 19 (Cha)
I am currently thinking:
Actor feat with mask of many faces or +1 Cha and Con
Aasimar Angelic protection feat (adv on saving throws and other magical effects)
+2 Dex or magic initiate/PAM
Warcaster
Then for my level 3 dip I am thinking I'll a tad unconventional by getting a tome pact with agonising blast and either the Book of Shadows or Mask of Many Faces.
My main struggle is that I love the idea of having a massive toolset of cantrips (with some rituals to boot) at her disposal, but the idea of going in and out of disguise as an Aasimar on the run sounds too tasty to let up! Holy shit this was a great vid man, I love the anti-magic one the most, I have no mean to rush you but my group has a new campaign starting in two weeks, do you think we will see the Ferra/Torr before then?
I'm thinking about it, but its really hard to do fairly.
I would like to see what you could do for Unconventional Monk builds
OD-X
Scourge Aasimar+Sun Soul Monk=Super Saiyan
the ruling on green flame blade with war caster is that you can't use them together since green flame blade targets more than one creature
Hey Bard. when watching the unconventional valor bard i suddenly got the idea of a ranged sword bard. i mean Blade flourish works even on ranged weapons (even the slashing flourish). also an crazy spell idea that one could use for bards that uses ranged or melee weapon: Tenser's Transformation. 1-2 (or 2-3 for sword/valor) of the spells powers are mostly useless for you but the remaining rest of the effects are totally worth it even for the risk that may happens when the spells ends.
Interesting idea, I'll do some research on it.
So I just found the channel and binged all of these videos
What about unconventional barbarians? They're my favorite
Hey there, nice to have you with us. Hope you enjoyed. I will cover every class, eventually. Cleric is up next and fighter will probably follow , but I've been wanting to talk about barbarians for a while. So many classes and requests to get through you know :)
Cleric will take a while. I mean, ten or eleven subclasses is a LOT of material to work with lol
2nd! Sorcerer has been my favorite class since my first character was a Sorcerer with his second highest stat being intelligence since I had no idea what I was doing. Lol
Never mind, a high int is useful for those arcana rolls. Did you start in 5th?
Yea, I started about 2 years ago playing 5e. Ever since then I have played a lot of games, watched critical role, and started playing Adventurers League too. I think I love Sorcerer for their innate ability to cast spells and their metamagic is extremely fun and flexible.
Nice. Here is my Like for the video would not want to break the number.

Love these, thanks for posting them.
Thanks, they are fun to do :)
I love them, they give me a lot of cool ideas for NPC's or potential characters so again thank you.
you are very welcome, it pleases me that it could be of some value to others, thanks so much for the support :)
You are very welcome. Please don't sell yourself short friend. Love these videos. Bard, at some point could you look at Matthew Mercer's Blood Hunter class?
What the absolute hell was he on when he did this? XD
Congrats on 2000 subs
I know, it's crazy right! :D
Drow Bard your content is great you deserve it
Great video love this series
Thanks a lot :)
Has he done a best bladesinger build
No, he has only done the Bladesinger At A Glance video so far. Here => ruclips.net/video/MSrd3-Xah6k/видео.html
John Wick build
That's a lot of head shots right there :)
Warlock 3/sorcerer 17
Quicken eldritch blast for 8 d10 bolts +8 d6 hex + 8(cha mod) in one round. Throw in a little monk, or paladin if you want.
Fighter with hand crossbow n crossbow expert feat

Be sure to get hex to. That gives you a extra 8 d6, like a free fireball!
What about a mid to close combat sorcerer? =) not ranged artillery
Hey there, what would be your take on a deamon/devil conjurer?

an unconventional bard or druid would be interesting to see.
Unconventional Valor Bard I think was his first unconventional video. It is here => ruclips.net/video/I21iIOJImMY/видео.html
Sadira from Killer Instinct please
Unconventional paladin
Hi, short version of this request, can you please do a review of this class?

Can you make teenage mutant ninja tortles
