I play most of my games on the train to/from work , having those built in controls is huge. It also is a beautiful display that is just big enough. I also use it as a content screen when I am at work to watch RUclips in the corner without distracting other people.
the best way to use this is at home is to connect to external monitor and with external keyboard and mouse other than that you game on gamepad while on the move
I don't see hardly no videos talking about the 4G option which I think is worth talking about....so my question is can I just slip a sim card in or I gotta buy a part to be able to use 4G?....Thanks
Gotta buy a part. Aliexpress has em. I've got one but wouldn't recommend, slow 4g speeds. Apparently due to the module uses is a common complaint I've been seeing from others too. Edit:spelling
I bought the 2023 7840u model off ebay and it had the 4g already built in it. I put my tablet sim from tmobile in and I get great speeds and connection almost everywhere i go. Last I tested the speed I was pulling almost 400mbps. It all depends on your service provider honestly and any one who says it's slow has not tested it well enough. I started with att sim and yeah it was slow.
@Let-Make-It-Happen cool man 😎👍 I wanted to get 1 but I was iffy because the reviews say the 4g antenna is weak/garbage but I may consider taking that chance, guess the ones on Amazon don't come with 4g antenna
Hey man, im looking to this device, i think with the new intel processors would be better. Im a motorcyclist, i like to travel with my bike, this device would occupy less space and i could work/game with it. And being usb chargeble also helps with less space to stuff. I want to ask, what do you think about the battery is any good ? Does have any options to let the battery only charge about 60 80% to conservate it ? Also de 60hz screen is any good ? This is a big let down for me. And about the temps ? I would put ptm thermal pad on it but it seens the device is already good in temps. And when i get hope i will use oculink to conect to a rtx 4080, my tv/monitor and external devices.
Battery is pretty decent for one of these devices. The screen looks really nice but yeah it’s not the best in other areas like refresh rate and response time. Temps are usually no issue. Haven’t used oculink but I hear some people having issues with the GPD G1 dock. Don’t know anyone who uses it with an nvidia card.
@@ancientflames The issue seems to be connected to one of the pins. if you used an oculink to gpu, theres one pin you can cover with electrical tape to make it not bug up when the cpu spikes up in power.
i use it for work cos im always traveling i need small and powerful laptop and can play any triple A game that i buy from steam well 70% working 30% gaming ..with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U and AMD Radeon 780M ..i got no ploblem at all when reading AutoCad NavisWork with this machine no lag at all not like my other mini laptop using Intel Celeron with intel UHD Graphics 600 it so lag im stress with it perfomance but with GPD WIN MAX 2 it is absolute best partner in my daily life...i always gaming on my journey ..battery life??? no problem i got 200w power bank
@haloavenger yup no problems this is powerful mini machine...but have 60hz screen maybe someday GPD will change that screen to 120hz i think??...but 60hz it is enough for me😁
I didn't buy mine because of the handheld aspect. It's a nice feature to have in a pinch, but otherwise i avoid it at all possible times I just like that this is a nice, compact PC that has a lot of versatility and i/o while letting you game. It's kind of crazy that these kinds of devices were laughed at 5 years ago, but the integrated graphics have really caught up with the concept in a wild way- now we see PC handhelds all over the place Truthfully, if i could ditch the controls in favor of a better keyboard and an 11 or 12 inch display, that would make it the perfect device for me
Buys tiny laptop with tiny keyboard and tiny controls. Complains screen is too tiny, keyboard is tiny, and that the controls a too small. Complains joystick mouse mode is bad, and uses it for controlling a game which is not the inteded use 🤣 The joystick mouse mode is for mouse only, not games, and enables angle snapping for better mouse control with a analog stick. Not made for playing games, its made for navigating the desktop. You turn it off when on a game... The analog sticks are also hall effect, literally thr best for analog sticks, ignoring the short height of the sticks, the sensor has thebbest accuracy. Srry but, this is kinda a useless review..
Tech specs can be found anywhere. This is a device meant to look good on a spec sheet and that’s mostly it haha. The GECs fail in that if I use them someone has to see me be embarrassed enough in the first place to cover the game pad, thus defeating the purpose of the covers themselves 😂 They are fun to fidget with though.
What a horrible biased review. You wanted to love it, at no point did you want to love it and if you want to play competitively, it might not be fit for purpose, wow you think, if you want to put out a fire, spit wont work. Its not for that purpose, mouse doesnt work, its your mouse that you bought. I cant see what I am shooting, excuse my sausage fingers, no machine can make up for your ineptness.
I haven't noticed any blockiness to mouse movements while the gamepad is active. I also feel like the controls do feel better than you'd expect it to feel...it's definitely a compromise to make the form factor work, but it does work. It really depends on how you use it I think. It works well propped up on a table or propped up on my body when laying down on a couch or in bed. It's not my primary handheld (I'm a Steam Deck fanboy through and through) but as a companion device, it's the only Windows handheld I could personally justify owning in addition to the Steam Deck because it's also a mini PC and laptop (it's got enough I/O to "dock" without needing a third party accessory). As a "gaming laptop" it's the only one I've found that is small enough to fit on a lap desk with enough room for a mouse.
The controls on this thing is just terible it just doesnt feel right in the hands no matter what coz your hand just rest on the edge, it is so uncomfortable, your palm cannot properly rest on the case, unlike the dedicated handhels which your palms rest perfectly on a curve edge.
Dude exactly. He buys a tiny laptop with tiny screen, tiny keyboard, tiny controls and complains about the screen size, the keyboard size, and controls 🤣 Then doesn't understand angle snapping for the stick controlling the mouse in mouse mode and says it's terrible 🤣 the dude is a idiot.

its got a 73w battery, being just after Ayaneo Kun's 75w battery, being the largest in the market right now
@@kevj.3575it's a 67Wh battery. The 6800U prototypes were 70+ but the production units are 67Wh. Still relatively huge, though.

I would agree with that. The handheld controls are 95% gimmick.

Absolutely 100%, its like testing a Toaster for 1080p playback.
This thing is fantastic for a retro game developer. Nobody should be buying this as a normal laptop.
i’m disappointed we didn’t go into a deep dive of the technical specifications and social impact of the gamer embarrassment covers

Yea, I have no issue with the "blockiness" he's talking about...I also like the built-in controls a lot.

Bro can afford that laptop but still records on a shitty cam and mic.
Priorities, man 😂.
I like this kind of jank. Reminds me of old school RUclips.
