  • We drive and review the all new Abarth 500e Turismo and take it around some beautiful twisty roads here in the UK to see just how good it is…. or isn’t?
Watch on to see what we think and let us know what you think or ask us anything you can think of that you want answering
    #abarth500e #abarth500eturismo #500eturismo
    Pricing
The Abarth 500e has a Recommend Base Retail Price (RRP) of £36,364-£40000 and an On The Road Price (OTR) of £37,195 - £40500. The OTR Price includes VAT, first year of VED, vehicle first registration fee, number plates and delivery.
    Drivetrain and Performance
The Abarth 500e is a full electric vehicle (BEV). The maximum power of the Abarth 500e is 114 kW (153 hp). The maximum torque is 173 lb-ft. The Abarth 500e is front wheel drive and can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 7.0 seconds. The top speed is 96 mph.
    Battery and Charging
The battery of the Abarth 500e has a total capacity of 42.2 kWh. The usable capacity is 37.8 kWh. An estimated range of about 140 miles is achievable on a fully charged battery. The actual range will however depend on several factors including climate, terrain, use of climate control systems and driving style.
For example: sustaining high speeds in cold weather could result in a range of around 100 mi. However, driving at low speeds in mild weather will increase the range to around 210 mi.
Charging is done using a Type 2 connector and the on-board charger has a maximum power of 11 kW. This charges a fully depleted battery back to full in around 4 hours 15 minutes. However, a 3-phase grid connection is needed to achieve this. The majority of homes and charge points currently do not have this connection. In most cases the maximum charging power will be 7.4 kW, allowing for a charge time of 6 hours and a charge rate of 23 mph. Charging the car using a regular wall plug will take around 19 hours 30 minutes.
Rapid charging is possible through a CCS connection. The maximum rapid charge power is 85 kW. The battery can't be charged continuously at this power. In an average rapid charge session the average charge power will be around 67 kW. This charges the battery from 10% to 80% in around 25 minutes. A rapid charge like this will add about 95 miles of range.
    Energy Consumption
The estimated combined (motorway and city) energy consumption of the Abarth 500e Convertible is about 270 Wh per mile. By comparison, this energy consumption is the equivalent of a fuel consumption of 150 mpg in a traditional petrol car.
The actual energy consumption will depend on several factors including climate, terrain, use of climate control systems and driving style. For example: sustaining high speeds in cold weather could result in an energy use of around 378 Wh per mile. However, driving at low speeds in mild weather will increase the efficiency to about 180 Wh per mile.
    CO2 Emission
The Abarth 500e emits no CO2 during driving. This only includes direct emissions from the vehicle itself. The energy needed to charge the battery might have been (partly) generated by the use of fossil fuels. Vehicles with an internal combustion engine will always emit CO2 during driving. Additionally, CO2 is emitted during the production and transport of fossil fuels.

I've used one of these for around 6 days total, and absolutely loved it. Fantastic fun, such a laugh to drive. I may well get one if Renault ask too much for the upcoming 5.

Nice one Darren, yeah I was very impressed too, used values are decent too and not losing to too much either.
I’m intrigued and can wait to see what the 5 turns out like 🙌👍

Shame about the "eyebrows" front end. How much does this car weigh? Good review. Expensive for a small car, yes I know it's electric. Having Fiat underpinnings I would be a little wary of it's long term durability and reliability. Reliability is why I've had Suzukis for nearly 20 years, never had a problem. Be interesting to se how this car would stack up against my non hybrid Swift Sport. Not much will keep up with the Abarth? Interesting to see. Enjoyed your review and will be following your channel 👍👏

I like the fact it’s a little bit different finally, I don’t mind them tbh and overall love this version now ❤️ thank you appreciate the kind words 🙌
Definitely agree though it’s a little too much imho but high quality feel no doubt.
It’s hard to say isn’t it, they come with good warranties from what I’m told and it definitely feels the best quality it’s ever been for sure.
Hard to beat a Suzuki for reliability 👍
In the corners this thing is phenomenal and such good fun ❤️
Thank you so so much again for the kind words and for subscribing appreciate it a lot 👌👍

I still cant get to grip with EV's, like you said they lack connection with the driver, I suppose its the fizz that an engine gives. EV's make sense for daily drivers in the city but to have fun you need something with an engine :)

Overall it’s hard to ever beat the feel and sound of an ICE vehicle imho however I feel EV’s support a second (or more) vehicle very well. If hopefully one day electric unit costs come down …… it could be more worthwhile an affair to get one in anyone’s fleet. We shall see 🙌 thanks for watching ❤️🙌

@@PeakPerformanceReviews Yes the unit costs are silly at the moment, I was having a conversation with a mate the other day and he saw a comparison of an EV to a Petrol Range rover doing a trip from Cornwall to Scotland (i think it was) and the electric car was 9 hours behind the range rover and the electric car actually cost more money due to electricity costs. I just don't think EV's are there yet, there certainly isn't the infrastructure in the UK to support them yet..

There not and I agree, when service stations are charging 68-80p per kWh it’s just not cost effective at all.
Hopefully one day in the future it’ll come down a lot 👌🤞

I have a 2011 695 Tributo Ferrari and the Abarth 500e Turismo drives far better i.m.h.o.

That’s awesome to hear and I agree, I must have driven at least 6-7 Abarth 595/695’s etc and this is the best yet without a doubt in terms of point a to point B chassis prowess

I wondered how long it would be before EV's were made to sound like a combustion engine lol.

Haha I suspect most to all will end up being like this if I’m honest, kinda weird but to me works better than having no sounds after driving so many without 😝
Thanks for watching bud 🙌 petrol combustion car review coming up this weekend ❤️🙌

Try a few for sure, look i’m certainly far from an ambassador for EV vehicles but I’m glad I get to try loads, some a much better than others and they certainly are getting much better than they were when they were first out 🙌 thanks again for watching buddy hope your keeping well 👍❤️🙌

Small EVs like this seem a better choice better handling cos of battery weight at the moment bigger EVs just feel like hippos
Not a fan of big touch screens in cars give me buttons

I think as a drivers tool no doubt, hard to make a heavy heavy car handle incredibly but they can surprise 🙌 yeah I’m with you on that too 👌

For a $40K e-hatch, it's slow. Under $30K would make it much faster without improving the 0-60.

    • @PeakPerformanceReviews

In a straight line 100% I agree it isn’t fast at all by modern standards and I’m surprised they didn’t give it at least 20-30 more bhp but in the handling stakes it is incredible and the best out there right now in the EV world other than cars costing twice to 3 times as much
