    Lyrics:
Everything that I say won't mean anything less
When I'm down in a grave
And you've put me to rest
Everything that I say won't mean anything less
When I'm down in a grave
And you've put me to rest
    Will the story end
    Will it ever change
I never knew a person could be so deranged
Does it make you feel good
Do you feel strong ruining the lives of everyone you love
As if life isn't hard already
Add it to the list of things to forget
With one chance to define ourselves
    We're gonna keep on living
    Keep on living
This is for the kids with the beaten in lips
Whose parents try to shut them up using their fists
    Keep living loud and proud
They never can hold you down
This is for the kids with a soul like mine
When people tell you living is a waste of your time
    Keep living loud and proud
They never can hold you down
Pull the plug with a single decision
Your way of life is a contradiction
Go to rehab celebrate with ketamine
Mend the wounds and light it with kerosene
    Light my wounds with kerosene
As if life isn't hard already
Add it to the list of things to forget
With one chance to define ourselves
    We're gonna keep on living
    Keep on living
This is for the kids with the beaten in lips
Whose parents try to shut them up using their fists
    Keep living loud and proud
They never can hold you down
This is for the kids with a soul like mine
When people tell you living is a waste of your time
    Keep living loud and proud
They never can hold you down
Listen to the sound of your children revolting
Listen to the sound of the lives you're ruining
This is for the kids with the beaten in lips
Whose parents try to shut them up using their fists
    Keep living loud and proud
They never can hold you down
This is for the kids with the beaten in lips
Whose parents try to shut them up using their fists

I am 53 years old and a female. If this song would have been around when I was 8-17, I would have made it my anthem. I hope this song helps a kid keep on fighting. My daughter is a disc jockey in a big city from your area, and she plays this song every night. I am so glad I tuned in streaming. Thanks for giving a voice to many who feel like they might not have one.

I just realized, when the lead singer is addressing the parents, he screams more violently (accusing),but when he's addressing the kids, he is singing (comforting)

During the break you can compare them again. First part is rebellion which is a good breakdown already but then it hits harder because the suffering is more heavy than the rebellion. At least in my opinion that's the case.

I think the best part of this music video was that Caleb looked so fucking angry. He was absolutely furious and disgusted that people could ever even think about hurting another person. He looks genuinely revolted, and you can see true emotion in his face. This got to me

This song hits home hard on so many levels. As an adult who suffered domestic abuse as a kid i'll tell you this, nothing feels worse than feeling like the people who gave you life want you dead. This subject doesn't get nearly the amount of attention it deserves. Thanks beartooth.

    • @TalkingCheeseBurgerr
      @TalkingCheeseBurgerr 6 лет назад +9

Haha same so don't feel alone. I really think it should be talked about more because the trauma from child abuse is really intense and could effect the individual til early to late adulthood. What sucks is going to therapy and having to revisit events because some people realize "What is the point? The past is the past." But in the present it still hurts them. So that's where it gets tricky. My traumatic events happened 15 or so years ago and even talking about it today still upsets me. It's strange to be honest because the guy is out of our lives but still my mom totally let him lay his hands on us (not in a sexual way, that would have been way more fucked up).

After being abused for 13 years (im 15) this song resonates with me so much. It reminds me that i'm not the only one. Every time i listen to this song it makes me feel so much better especially thinking about this times i spent getting beaten or told i wasn't worth living by my own mother. I want Beartooth to keep making music because each and every song they have made helped me so much in recovering from my childhood and even things i go through now. I wish i could thank this band so much for what they have done for me and giving me strength to get better.

What separates these guys from alot of guys is they sing not about themselves but meaningful things like: child abuse, addiction, being the best person you can, and following your dreams. Its great that they are like this.
A lot of bands like falling in reverse and Atilla sing about making money and all about them selves.
Guys like these or For Today or Emmure (some songs) are awesome.

    • @theparadiddlydoo2771

KillershredsTK Falling In Reverse don't sing songs about money...? There's a few lyrics WITHIN 1 song that refers to money but other than that, they don't. But the lyrics do reflect their singer. As for Attila, I've heard that they sing about money and not giving a shit about anyone.

Hell, I agree. If the lyrics are good, if the music is well connected and the overall performance of it is done well, then I can enjoy it. There's good and bad in EVERY genre, and past that, you can weed through the bad and enjoy the good in anything. Besides, to each his own, right? You're not going to like the EXACT same kind of music- or components of music for that matter- as somebody else. Let's like what we like and leave it at that. 👍

At my age it still hits to close to home it gives me chills I had so much anger to release and the concerts they had you can literally fill the energy with this song. It was HEAVY the energy was UNBELIEVABLE.

This song saved my life, big thanks to a whole band, especially to a Caleb Shomo. Sorry for mistakes, I'm from Belarus. At one period of life I just stuck. I didn't know what to do, always was searching through the past, what happened, what passed. And just one click on youtube flipped over my whole life. I listen this song when I go to work, when I go from work, when I rest at home. And you know, life's getting better, from day to day. I'm really happy right now, in exact moment of time. Big thanks to everyone who wrote this lyrics and music, it's really awesome. Parents should love their children, violence is harmful (for both sides). Love each other, love your family, love you nearest.

This Song Kicks Ass, However, It includes a Very Serious Meaning. It's An Anthem For Kids Who Feel Abused By Their Parents. Some May Call It Angst, Some Call It Immature, But You Must Put That They're Sending a Positive Message to Those Kids In Context. If Your Kid Out There With Abuse Problems, Just Remember Some of the Lyrics to this Song. ("KEEP LIVING LOUD & PROUD!!! THEY NEVER CAN HOLD YOU DOWN!!!") (:

I had this weird hysterical moment last night when my mum slapped me and my lip burst out bleeding and almost got me burst out laughing. Then I secretly packed my stuff at 3 in the morning and almost got myself to leave the house..but chickened out at the last minute and here I am.
I grew up in a culture where it is widely accepted that "disciplining" your child through use of beating is normal(it is changing now, but slowly) and for a long time until high school I believed that I deserved to be punished for the things I did wrong- little things like lying to your parents or talking back at them or not following their orders etc, etc. Although I have thought differently about all this for a very long time, 'thinking' and 'putting it into action' are two very different things. No matter what I yell at myself in my head, when my parents order me to kneel in front of them and listen to their lecture(as children are expected to do with their elders), for the life of me my body won't move. I can't talk back at them, as I've been conditioned to do when I was younger. I've gathered enough balls now to say things back at them every now and then, but in a way that won't aggravate them(but still aggravates them anyway). I'm just over my mid-twenties now, so they don't hit me systematically like they used to, but I still get the occasional slap or kick or blow to the head, and have to take it without resistance or it's seen as an act of defiance and that I am not repenting for my "wrongdoings". And still my body just... wouldn't move despite the various actions I picture myself doing in my head.
Lately I feel as though I'm losing myself because I have absolutely no idea what to do with this situation. It's not very easy to tell this story to a complete stranger and make them understand. The story itself is years and years old- spanning my whole lifetime. Most of those memories are faded and all that remains are the emotions that have built up steadily over the past 20+ years. And my parents actions themselves aren't exactly black-white good-evil. To the outside world, they are wonderful parents. I also know for a fact that they lead a very healthy lifestyle and uphold good morals. They have a very clear idea of what a "proper" lifestyle should be and how a "proper" human being should behave, and I respect that. But I believe that there are many different ways to live a life and because I am rather very stubborn, and they are stubborn, the problem starts there. The many "little faults" I have - basically whatever that doesn't fall into their category of "right" and "good" - all come together in their eyes as a "very disobedient and stubborn daughter whom it is their duty to turn into a proper human being before being released into the society". It's not like I do drugs or anything. I'm just an average 26 year-old who likes to sleep in in the mornings and may be a little overweight (by Korean standards) and enjoy rocking out to different genres of music.
In moments of clarity I think this way, but nowadays I feel so confused. Sometimes I wonder if I really am a worthless bag of bones like they tell me in their moments of anger. When they're not angry, they can be such great, caring parents. Always worrying after me and for my safety, preparing hearfelt meals and buying lovely clothes and regularly going on family trips etc etc. They don't have drinking problems. This is not a clear case like "my parents drink and beat me for no reason". They beat me or punish me in other ways to "discipline" me and they feel justice. In fact they cannot understand why their daughter just won't do what they tell her to do when they all they want is to guide her to become a good, proper person?
Maybe they're right. These days I just feel so sick and tired of everything. Up until a few years ago I played the perfect daughter(as best I could), slapping on a mask of repense whenever getting "disciplined". I find that I don't have the emotional control to do even that anymore. And it's showing. And leads to more"discipline".
Just yesterday my mum repeatedly asked me- "Why do you always make me be a bad person?". As in- "Why do you always be so stubborn and never do what I tell you to do, so that I have to punish you and look like the bad guy?".
I don't have the guts to properly fight back, but I don't want to (and can't) live by their rules anymore. I've always made an effort to be positive all my life, in fact my friends remember me as that super happy ball of energy. I feel tired of that now. Sometimes I just feel done with everything, but I don't have the guts to end it all. I don't have the guts to leave either. And thinking about all this is exhausting and overwhelming. I find it harder and harder to talk about it to the few friends who know about my situation, because I feel like I'm burdening them with it. And anyway I'd much rather I talked about other things with them.
Recently I tried posting a few things on instagram just to vent it out a little, and suddenly it felt all too attention-seeking and I felt stupid about it and deleted them later. Never tried it on youtube before but seems like it just happened now... Maybe I'll feel stupid about it and delete it soon. I gotta admit writing this all down here helped summarize my situation to myself a bit. Writing it down on paper risks getting discovered(it's happened before), and I never get far before zoning out anyway.
Anyway if you're still reading, thank you for caring, and if you relate to this... hold on to hope that things will get better. I'm trying so hard to hold on. But I feel so wasted inside. I feel so stupid. I feel like I'm drowning half the time. I'm not sure who I am anymore. Maybe, despite what my parents DO to me, what they SAY to me may be true? I don't know. I'm so sick of everything. I'm so sick of having to come up with excuses to cover up my situation. I'm sick of pretending I'm fine. I'm not happy. I'm not fine at all. But it takes too much strength just to think about it, let alone talk about it. Hell, why am I still ranting about this here? It's fucking RUclips for God's sake.
And just as an after thought- for those people in the comment section who keeps saying "instead of commenting here go and get some actual help", please understand it's not easy. Especially if you've been conditioned to take the abuse all your life. It's really really hard.

Caleb is seriously talented, and amazing to think that he's accomplished so much when he's only 22. Cannot wait to see them on Warped Tour when it comes to Minnesota!

I love this song, and I can unfortunately relate. I've endured some physical abuse, but more emotional abuse... which is much trickier to get evidence of. My bruises may be gone, but there are still scars on my heart. This song just makes me feel much better.

Man! Dead & Divine are my favourite band its sick to see other people know of them still! They are from my hometown! if you didn't already know, Matt Tobin (Dead & Divines front man) started a new band RITUAL they have a first single out now called Rat Queen, If you like D&D you will love RITUAL :)

    • @Sailor1010
      @Sailor1010 10 лет назад +1

Yeah when I heard they were breaking up I was bummed. After hearing this band and their close sound to D&D I did some research on Tobin and saw he was in a band called RITUAL. They are legit. D&D is a little different from this band lyrically. I loved how Tobin questioned religion in his lyrics and that post hardcore/rock n roll sound is definitely my favorite style of music. Cheers, bro.
