I just realized, when the lead singer is addressing the parents, he screams more violently (accusing),but when he's addressing the kids, he is singing (comforting)
During the break you can compare them again. First part is rebellion which is a good breakdown already but then it hits harder because the suffering is more heavy than the rebellion. At least in my opinion that's the case.
I think the best part of this music video was that Caleb looked so fucking angry. He was absolutely furious and disgusted that people could ever even think about hurting another person. He looks genuinely revolted, and you can see true emotion in his face. This got to me
This song hits home hard on so many levels. As an adult who suffered domestic abuse as a kid i'll tell you this, nothing feels worse than feeling like the people who gave you life want you dead. This subject doesn't get nearly the amount of attention it deserves. Thanks beartooth.
Haha same so don't feel alone. I really think it should be talked about more because the trauma from child abuse is really intense and could effect the individual til early to late adulthood. What sucks is going to therapy and having to revisit events because some people realize "What is the point? The past is the past." But in the present it still hurts them. So that's where it gets tricky. My traumatic events happened 15 or so years ago and even talking about it today still upsets me. It's strange to be honest because the guy is out of our lives but still my mom totally let him lay his hands on us (not in a sexual way, that would have been way more fucked up).
After being abused for 13 years (im 15) this song resonates with me so much. It reminds me that i'm not the only one. Every time i listen to this song it makes me feel so much better especially thinking about this times i spent getting beaten or told i wasn't worth living by my own mother. I want Beartooth to keep making music because each and every song they have made helped me so much in recovering from my childhood and even things i go through now. I wish i could thank this band so much for what they have done for me and giving me strength to get better.
Addison Moore this has happen to me and my friends but its not my parents who do it to me it my teachers at school. And this made me say something and the teachers were arrested for child abuse
What separates these guys from alot of guys is they sing not about themselves but meaningful things like: child abuse, addiction, being the best person you can, and following your dreams. Its great that they are like this. A lot of bands like falling in reverse and Atilla sing about making money and all about them selves. Guys like these or For Today or Emmure (some songs) are awesome.
KillershredsTK Falling In Reverse don't sing songs about money...? There's a few lyrics WITHIN 1 song that refers to money but other than that, they don't. But the lyrics do reflect their singer. As for Attila, I've heard that they sing about money and not giving a shit about anyone.
As a victim of abuse not just physical but the physical emotional mentally and verbal I love this song thank you this song has gotten me through so many dark days where I'm in a pit and I can't get out thank you this song is beautiful
Emotional, verbal and mental abuse is hilarious. You're weak if a person's words hold you down. Stop being a bitch, if you ain't getting beat you got nothing to whine about
OziPlays Everything Caleb touches seems to turn to gold. I saw him 3 years ago I think, maybe 4, when he was still in Attack Attack! he's incredible live.
You're right there's great bands/artist in every genre of music, there's also terrible bands/artist in every genre of music.. Screw hating on stuff just because you don't like it though.. that's lame.. I know that's what the comment section I guess is for is a review of the video.. but there's a certain extent I don't get.. but yes. I don't care about genres either..
Zackery Pilcher Sweet another person who understands! I completely agree. I listen to songs based off the lyrics and what they mean, and if I like the music~ I get a lot of hate from my friends because my playlist is so random. It goes from bring me the horizon to korean pop groups to nicki minaj to miranda lambert XD
Hell, I agree. If the lyrics are good, if the music is well connected and the overall performance of it is done well, then I can enjoy it. There's good and bad in EVERY genre, and past that, you can weed through the bad and enjoy the good in anything. Besides, to each his own, right? You're not going to like the EXACT same kind of music- or components of music for that matter- as somebody else. Let's like what we like and leave it at that. 👍
I know! Up until this song, Of Mice & Men were my favorite band. Beartooth had been my third with Unconditional coming out from Memphis May Fire, but I love Caleb Shomo's lyrics.
Was jamming in the shower and this came on. I used to listen to this on repeat when my dad was extremely abusive. Every time I contemplated suicide I turned this song on. It truly saved me. My dad now has pancreatic cancer, and he’s trying to make up for the abuse. Our relationship will never be normal, but I thank this band for saving me so I could see the change.
+RJ Dearing (enderman2930 gaming) alot of people still generalize it as "screamo" and get uncomfortable when they listen to hardcore. I use it as stress reliever and it works very well, its almost relaxing.
I downloaded their ep when it first came out but for some reason never listened to it till they released this song. I now regret not listening to them when I first downloaded the ep.
This made me feel so lifted, free, and so much better about my life. Caleb Shomo, you don't even know how many people absolutely love you. I don't even know how to describe what you have done for me. Thank you so very much.
Definitely going to buy this album when it drops. This is an album that deserves a trip to the music store to shell out your hard-earned cash for. Beartooth is officially on my list of bands to legitimately support.

Jack Harvey I want to agree, but Issues live has been one of the best shows I've seen, beaten only by I See Stars (Started From the Bottom tour), and followed very closely by Dance Gavin Dance. But I'll guess we'll see, eh? ;D

I am now 20 years old , I listened to this when I was younger and it STILL gives me goosebumps this song used to help me so much to see other children went through situations like this. At my age it still hits to close to home it gives me chills I had so much anger to release and the concerts they had you can literally fill the energy with this song. It was HEAVY the energy was UNBELIEVABLE.

To anyone who might read this, So my name's Thien, and while we might not know each other, that doesn't exactly matter because I just wanted to let you know you're truly beautiful, amazing and incredibly loved! If you're going through a rough patch in life, please keep your head up and keep going because you're gonna be alright!! KEEP LIVING LOUD AND FUCKIN' PROUD 'cause they can never hold you down. Have a lovely day and don't forget to sm:)e! through this life.
This song saved my life, big thanks to a whole band, especially to a Caleb Shomo. Sorry for mistakes, I'm from Belarus. At one period of life I just stuck. I didn't know what to do, always was searching through the past, what happened, what passed. And just one click on youtube flipped over my whole life. I listen this song when I go to work, when I go from work, when I rest at home. And you know, life's getting better, from day to day. I'm really happy right now, in exact moment of time. Big thanks to everyone who wrote this lyrics and music, it's really awesome. Parents should love their children, violence is harmful (for both sides). Love each other, love your family, love you nearest.
Oh man, the smile on that kid's face at 3:12... Brought me to tears. Listen up guys, this life can really suck. But if you can make someone smile like that, whether it's through music like this, talking about nerdy stuff, scraping up your knees boarding around town, or whatever else. Just invest in someone. Maybe even give out some hugs? Just love em'. Alright? Alright.
I used to hear this song on repeat when I was still living with my alcoholic and abusive mother. Now I'm in another country living a better life. This song helped me so much, i'm so thankful.
This song gets me through the bruises. Thank you, Beartooth. You guys have changed my life. You help me smile. You help me think for myself. You've helped me escape dangerous people. Thank you. My words can't tell you how I feel.. But I just hope you guys know.. Thank you.
I still remember when this song came out and they went to warped tour that same year. They also did a Livestream and I got to chat with them for a while. It was such a great year!
I have dead parents but i was abused my whole life. I'm only 19. Sexual, physical, and emotional and for kids like us this helps others understand what we have been through. Thanks Beartooth.
The look on calebs face gives me shivers, cause you can really see how fucking furious he is about this sort of situation, (domestic violence. Abuse ect) it's as if he's went through it himself, or he knows someone that's gone through something like that. Just like.... Woah.
Caleb is seriously talented, and amazing to think that he's accomplished so much when he's only 22. Cannot wait to see them on Warped Tour when it comes to Minnesota!
I started listening to post-hardcore when I was 14, I'm 21 now and I can never leave it, even though I'm into other music now, I always come back to it... gives your soul that re-spark of hope :)
I love this song, and I can unfortunately relate. I've endured some physical abuse, but more emotional abuse... which is much trickier to get evidence of. My bruises may be gone, but there are still scars on my heart. This song just makes me feel much better.
***** are you deaf? Not This Means War I'm talking about the album before that which is self titled when they still had Johnny. He had deep vocals and not mid range.
first time i heard this song was when i saw them on tour, and as a kid who grew up in abuse, just DAMN. this one hits home and i absolutely freaking love it
From battling PTSD because of some god awful pathetic abusers this song has helped me push through and escape. It kept me moving forward and is now helping me recover. Its been a year since I'm free from there grasp now. I'm 17 now and happy to be alive. Thank you for helping me keep on living when some pretty horrible people wanted me gone. Thank you my fucking god thank you
Woah, you wrote your comment 3 years ago which means you’re probably 20 now, your comment really hit home for me since im 17 right now and im here listening to this song at 1 AM reading over the comments. I hope everything is going well for you still
I relate to this song so much. this song honestly makes me feel so good and when I'm unhappy I listen to it and it really helps. I love Beartooth so much.
I was physically abused as a little kid, so this song really gets to me. That kind of experience is one that no person should have. I am so sorry to those of you that have been or are being abused. Stay strong! You will get through it!
This Song Kicks Ass, However, It includes a Very Serious Meaning. It's An Anthem For Kids Who Feel Abused By Their Parents. Some May Call It Angst, Some Call It Immature, But You Must Put That They're Sending a Positive Message to Those Kids In Context. If Your Kid Out There With Abuse Problems, Just Remember Some of the Lyrics to this Song. ("KEEP LIVING LOUD & PROUD!!! THEY NEVER CAN HOLD YOU DOWN!!!") (:
DreadedOne Who cares what he does, he's right, this song is incredible and has a powerful meaning.been listening to Caleb Shomo for a long time, and this is probably the best he's done.
Levon777614 lel love the fact that from what you just said it seems as if i denied what he and the song meant, i was simply writing about capitalizing words. O.o you may want to sometimes not reply :/
you are so right! metal is so misunderstood angry music is good, it's like therapy for those who'd otherwise do something violent it's better to just listen to something that gets your anger out
This song has a good message to a point. One side says to stand up to abusive parents but another side is saying "if you keep being a dumb shit and ruining your own life by partying all the time and brushing off responsibility and your parents discipline you then rebel against them"
I wasn't saying you had to get the same message from it. It's just what I took from it at first look. The more you listen to the song and watch interviews the more you see the better meaning.
Mors "This is for the kids with the beaten in lips whose parents try to shut them up using their fists" If you got the meaning you originally commented by listening to the lyrics, I think you may need to have your ears checked. This song is more than obviously about child abuse. You need not watch interviews or listen to it more than once to understand the message. It's pretty damn clear. There is no bad meaning. This song is purely positive with no other way of taking it unless you aren't actually comprehending the words he is screaming/singing.
Mors I know what you were referring to. I was simply giving you the only meaning because there is only one. You can't take a song to mean something that it obviously doesn't. That's not an opinion. It's just being wrong. I never once insulted you. I was just correcting you. Also, I'm not really arguing. Unless you're refuting what I said, despite it being correct, then we're not arguing. No need to be defensive about it, buddy. Would it really kill you to accept that you made a mistake? Admitting that you're wrong is a hell of a lot more respectable than trying to argue a stupid point.
Calla Doran "I was simply giving you the only meaning because there is only one" sorry sir but different people interpret different things differently there is thousands of ways to interpret this song to think there is only one is remarkably arrogant even by the Internets standards. obviously there is the way the song writer intended it but the other interpretations are not "wrong".
Just found this band last night thanks to a random youtuber who was told to react to this band. Glad i watched it cause this band has some great songs. I love the way the singer can change vocal ranges and to screaming without pausing or stopping. Their top songs In Between, The Lines, & Beaten In Lips.
This song gets me so pumped up,it's ridiculous. I just reviewed their album "Disgusting" on my channel, I gave a PERFECT SCORE. First one of the year. Check it out and let me know what you thought!
I wish more people gave Beartooth a chance. They have beautiful messages. I was beaten as a child and this song just means so much to me. It tells me I'm not alone and it just makes me really happy.
Just occurred to me after 2 years of adoring this band, this song has subconsciously stuck in my head the whole time and is the reason I refuse to sit there and take shit when people are dishing it out. KEEP LIVING LOUD AND PROUD, THEY NEVER CAN HOLD YOU DOWN
Being truly honest, i loved attack attack with caleb fronting and i was stoked for Beartooth when i first heard of its inception. i fucking HATED the sick EP but this song is fucking incredible. I can't stop listening to this. props caleb. i always knew you had it in you
***** i didn't like the repetitive vocal themes and i felt like there wasn't much distinction between each song. like it all sounded like a long thrash-ish song
@LastChanceBluePrint well thank you for respecting me too lol. Like I said, I love Caleb Shomo and I think his life story is nothing short of incredible and while I wasn't a fan of the Sick EP, I really love this song and I'm looking forward to the album :)
I mean, I'd be a bit annoyed at first, but then again it's a great story to tell. "Yeah, my favorite band played my house and burned it down. It was sick."
Am I the only one extremely happy that they put the abuse help info at the end? Damn I love this band.

Amazing.
I am 53 years old and a female. If this song would have been around when I was 8-17, I would have made it my anthem. I hope this song helps a kid keep on fighting. Dude... That's like a perfect analogy.
Why as it took me years to realise that DAMN

During the break you can compare them again. First part is rebellion which is a good breakdown already but then it hits harder because the suffering is more heavy than the rebellion. At least in my opinion that's the case.

I can see why too. He came from an abusive family, which is why he sings about this stuff and the band plays about this.
+Simple Sound Caleb has said in multiple interviews that he was never abused at home.
+Gunilla Diza true he just makes songs like these for kids who were/are abused and supports them
Gunilla Diza only problem is alot of people denies being abused most people who are don't want to bring it back up so he could have been abused
Well id hate for him to look happy about it.
This song hits home hard on so many levels. As an adult who suffered domestic abuse as a kid i'll tell you this, nothing feels worse than feeling like the people who gave you life want you dead. This subject doesn't get nearly the amount of attention it deserves. Thanks beartooth.

I met these guys in a chippy after I saw them live xD
I downloaded their ep when it first came out but for some reason never listened to it till they released this song. I now regret not listening to them when I first downloaded the ep.
Isn't this going to be on their first full-length? We're lucky they get a lot of support from Red Bull and its easy to come accross them

To anyone who might read this,

Have a lovely day and don't forget to sm:)e! through this life.
thanks I needed that☺
Thanks man day 7 clean off heroin I know I won't have a good day but I will keep living loud and proud
thanks I really needed to hear than
Thanks :) just brightened my day.
Thanks. I needed that. Been going through a rough patch with my mom for the past few years. She finally got the courage to leave him very recently.
"Listen to the sound of your children revolting" so brilliant. love this.
Beartooth has yet to disappoint! I dig everything they put out!
I would high five you, but kinda can't... But I love their stuff!
Listen to the sound of your children revolting .. That's when I lose my shit every time !
Love each other, love your family, love you nearest.
romaforever same this song had a big impact on my life I don't think I would be alive without this song
im glad that they put something out there to help kids belive and to throw abuse in the back of theyre mind
Alright? Alright.
This song gives me chills every time I listen to it. It's so powerful and has so much meaning. I love it
This is an anthem for the kids who got beaten by their parents to your inner child I love you and you are safe 💖
Thanks Beartooth.
ghost baby I’m sorry you went through that😔
9 years being a beartooth fan, and it's only getting better from here!
The look on calebs face gives me shivers, cause you can really see how fucking furious he is about this sort of situation, (domestic violence. Abuse ect) it's as if he's went through it himself, or he knows someone that's gone through something like that. Just like.... Woah.
I think your looking to much into it, I don't know anyone who can do metal/screamo with a straight face
Don't you just fucking love that feeling you get when a breakdown is so badass it gives you goosebumps? This breakdown is definitely one of them.
This song is amazing! I've never heard a song with lyrics that addresses this subject so directly.
1:26 And 2:17 Are the two best parts! 😍😄😚
are you a fan of more isolated vocals?
Dude, this album comes out on my birthday. Sweet.
Caleb is seriously talented, and amazing to think that he's accomplished so much when he's only 22. Cannot wait to see them on Warped Tour when it comes to Minnesota!
I needed this song when I was still living at home with my adoptive mother who always abused me. Love this tune
I just started listening too these guys and they sound awesome
Same
I started listening to post-hardcore when I was 14, I'm 21 now and I can never leave it, even though I'm into other music now, I always come back to it... gives your soul that re-spark of hope :)
Dont be afraid to speak up. I didn't and i regret it. People are there for you, even if your parents aren't. I will always be a fan of this piece
I love this song, and I can unfortunately relate. I've endured some physical abuse, but more emotional abuse... which is much trickier to get evidence of. My bruises may be gone, but there are still scars on my heart. This song just makes me feel much better.
his vocals will never be as good as they were on Attack Attack!'s self titled album.
okay
***** are you deaf? Not This Means War I'm talking about the album before that which is self titled when they still had Johnny. He had deep vocals and not mid range.
***** It's all good man xD lol
Kyler Ferry Disagree, I think his vocal range is crazy good now. beartooth isn't for the "deep" vocals anyway.
***** I can't stand the yelling sound of his screams but that's just my opinon
I like hearing his breathes when he screams. It makes the song feel more authentic.
This song always sends a shiver down my back when I hear it, puts me back on my feet and reminds me how I made it through hell and back.
This song has an amazing message. Abso-freaking-lutely live Beartooth!!!
first time i heard this song was when i saw them on tour, and as a kid who grew up in abuse, just DAMN. this one hits home and i absolutely freaking love it
From battling PTSD because of some god awful pathetic abusers this song has helped me push through and escape.
I hope everything is going well for you still
I am just starting to get into Beartooth and so far I think they are fantastic. I can't believe I just found them now.
I relate to this song so much. this song honestly makes me feel so good and when I'm unhappy I listen to it and it really helps. I love Beartooth so much.
This song has been on repeat all day
I have not heard a band this good in a really long time.
First time ever i listened to these dudes, heard of them but never bothered to listen to them... holy shit, these dudes are going places.
I was physically abused as a little kid, so this song really gets to me. That kind of experience is one that no person should have. I am so sorry to those of you that have been or are being abused. Stay strong! You will get through it!
That's a clear message to bad parents.
*direct and deserved threat
Ya
Listening back on this retrospectively, thank you
how did i not know about Beartooth until now??? sick ass breakdowns... love it!!
I love it when people think my genre of music is horribke, like at least this has a meaning in the lyrics
THIS BAND IS SO GREAT. I love their lyrics with a passion.
I hate Attack attack!, so i was afraid to look up Beartooth just a little, but man, I'm glad I did. Such a good improvement and so well composed.
I just discovered those guys and I'm so glad I did! They're killing it!
keep living loud and proud they can never hold down wow
:( MY LIFE
Can't wait to hear the album :D
that breakdown sounds so beatdown. fuck yeah
+DecayLegacy yea!!!!
I fucking love it, best part of the song imo
I willnever stop loving beartooth
I wonder if anybody got a concussion filming this video from smacking heads together XD LOVE THIS SONG
Fucking Beautiful. The message and the power from the song. Just absolutely amazing. Caleb knows how to write some music.
My new favorite song
This Song Kicks Ass, However, It includes a Very Serious Meaning. It's An Anthem For Kids Who Feel Abused By Their Parents. Some May Call It Angst, Some Call It Immature, But You Must Put That They're Sending a Positive Message to Those Kids In Context. If Your Kid Out There With Abuse Problems, Just Remember Some of the Lyrics to this Song. ("KEEP LIVING LOUD & PROUD!!! THEY NEVER CAN HOLD YOU DOWN!!!") (:
let's capitalize every other word ._.
Brenden Douillette I Wanted To Write That Aswell But I Didnt Want To Start A Flame War About Capitalizing Every Other Word
O.o you may want to sometimes not reply :/
you are so right!
metal is so misunderstood
angry music is good, it's like therapy for those who'd otherwise do something violent it's better to just listen to something that gets your anger out
This song is so beautiful and amazing! Thanks to this band for being courageous and talking about child abuse.
Just saw beartooth for the 2nd time and the crowd went insane during this, heaviest pit ive ever seen
It's powerful stuff like this that gives life to this genre.
0:39 THE BEST MOMENT
True
I love 2:14
+The Wolfe Boy Affirmative
yup
Nah, "light it up with kerosene!"
I know these guys aren't explicitly a Christian band
but their music has helped me so much, I feel like God uses them whether they know it or not
This song has a good message to a point. One side says to stand up to abusive parents but another side is saying "if you keep being a dumb shit and ruining your own life by partying all the time and brushing off responsibility and your parents discipline you then rebel against them"
You Are stupid
Caleb is one of the best Screamo vocalists of this generation. PERIOD!
Just found this band last night thanks to a random youtuber who was told to react to this band. Glad i watched it cause this band has some great songs. I love the way the singer can change vocal ranges and to screaming without pausing or stopping. Their top songs In Between, The Lines, & Beaten In Lips.
^^ One of the best songs ever in my opinion.
Agreed
I see a Mitch Lucker FAN :D
Emily Jones yes I am ^-^
Meabea marie Yay Mitch Lucker is awesome
This song gets me so pumped up,it's ridiculous. I just reviewed their album "Disgusting" on my channel, I gave a PERFECT SCORE. First one of the year. Check it out and let me know what you thought!
he totally did he reviewed the shit out of it im a subscriber
look dude im helping your channel =D
Kyle Smith lol
Haha thanks Kyle Smith !!
Hey sometime you should review Tell all your friends!
review Breakdown of Sanity's 'Perception' There was no album better than that last year
I wish more people gave Beartooth a chance. They have beautiful messages. I was beaten as a child and this song just means so much to me. It tells me I'm not alone and it just makes me really happy.
love this song. love beartooths message. inspired
One of the first ever metal songs I'm hearing and I'm getting chills because it's just SO GOOD.
+Noga The Unicorn its not metal..
+Noga The Unicorn I love the fact this song is about HOW PARENTS ALWAYS FUCKING BEATING THEIR KIDS AND KIDS ARE ALWAYS ARE GETTING ABUSED ......
Nicholas Barnes yea dude are u
its not metal.
its Post-Hardcore
Just occurred to me after 2 years of adoring this band, this song has subconsciously stuck in my head the whole time and is the reason I refuse to sit there and take shit when people are dishing it out. KEEP LIVING LOUD AND PROUD, THEY NEVER CAN HOLD YOU DOWN
Being truly honest, i loved attack attack with caleb fronting and i was stoked for Beartooth when i first heard of its inception. i fucking HATED the sick EP but this song is fucking incredible. I can't stop listening to this. props caleb. i always knew you had it in you
I don't understand how you can hate the sick EP when it sounds pretty similar to this...
Lol this is really similar to the Sick EP... Sounds a lot like I Have A Problem
***** i didn't like the repetitive vocal themes and i felt like there wasn't much distinction between each song. like it all sounded like a long thrash-ish song
I can understand why lol but I hope the album is like this I don't care for the repeating lyrics as well but the music is still amazing
@LastChanceBluePrint well thank you for respecting me too lol. Like I said, I love Caleb Shomo and I think his life story is nothing short of incredible and while I wasn't a fan of the Sick EP, I really love this song and I'm looking forward to the album :)
If they played at my house then ended up burning it down, id have no regrets
I mean, I'd be a bit annoyed at first, but then again it's a great story to tell. "Yeah, my favorite band played my house and burned it down. It was sick."
***** lol are you sure it wasn't "Disgusting" ;)
Levon777614 HAHAHA!
no even one letter? :D
***** That was the funniest comment I've seen in forever. :')
