Hi Dillon, I have a question, if it is possible, namely when you paint the string on the sole, how do you clean the excess paint at the end, is it acetone? Because I see that you put the stick in it and in the paint .... Thanks and good luck Thank you very much for your answer.......(:

Hey bro, i want to start my custom airforce 1 buisness anf i have some questions. When layering to i wait for the paint to dry for each coat ir do i just draw the other layers while its wet?
these look amazing...i scrolled through the comments but couldnt find any answers...what are you using on the inside of the shoe to black it out? are you dipping them in a dye or using airbrush and getting as much covered inside as you can? i never have done insides of any customs...practicing hydro dipping shoes gives me a similar result ( i dont bother taping off the inside of practice shoes).
I’m sure Dillon will reply to you himself, but if you go back through his videos, he talks a lot about his process and I believe he is a fan of Procreate on the iPad.
Question, why do you airbrush and then paint with the brush on the same panel and then airbrush again? Is it because you’re able to do heavier layers with the brush?
To some degree, yes. More paint is applied with a paintbrush than with an airbrush. However airbrush yields a cleaner look in my opinion. You can’t hit the stitching and edges of panels the same way with an airbrush that you can with a paintbrush so that really helps. Also if you ever need to do touchups, you can’t touch up your airbrush panels with a paintbrush or it won’t match. But if you apply a layer with a paintbrush it’ll let you touch up that panel down the line
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I would assume this also makes it easier/ quicker since you’ll have to do less touch ups on edges as well? I like watching your content and seeing all the methods you have implemented through your experience. You make very rich great content ! I used to restore shoes in high school a long time ago and now that I got an airbrush kit I’m getting back into it with customizing.
Hey bro I'm not sure if you have a video on this but how do you go about designing a shoe on Photoshop like a mock up and to make the stencils. It would be cool to get a video on that unless there is already one.
First let me say you do really awesome work and have great vision. The things I wanted to know about your process you glazed over. Not sure why you hid the colors you used, even if it was a custom mix the color on the bottle was often obscured. The sock liner + tongue you did in dark blue - - wanted to see how you did that (instead you did a quick clip like it was magic) - - thinking you must have used a paint + 2-soft since its fabric, but not sure. Personally I cared more about those details then watching you tape the shoe.
Thank you! You can always trust in that I’m never hiding anything from you. I can’t quite turn these into 40 hours video as that’s how long something like this would take. The entire premise is built upon showing a little at each stage. With the paint bottles as you become more familar with angelus colors you’ll recognize which shade of blue is which much easier. I posted Instagram reels with breakdowns of the ratios on these back when they were made as well. For the sockliners you’re correct anytime you paint a fabric you want to use 2soft, no secrets there either. We have full tutorials on painting sockliners specifically on our page as well. Hope that helps!
Hi Dillon! Firstly, I'd like to thank you hugely for blessing the customs community with quality content like this :) Since starting my customs jouney last month, you are without a doubt one of the most refined artists out there imo. I do have a questions though! When you were applying the base coats, was there a reason for no applying full coverage on the shoe per coat? And any particular reason for switching over to a paintbrush after the second layer? Thanks again! Stay bless and hope you keep thriving in this space :)
Thanks man Appreicate your kind words! Thin light coats with lots of dry time is one of the most important factors for keeping your customs durable. So using more paint just get to get more coverage is essentially just applying too much to the point where the paint isn’t even bonding to the surface.. I’ll switch over to paintbrush at some point on any airbrushing jobs just to help get paint inside of all the stitching areas, and if I need to do shy touch ups down the line I know I can use that same paint after I apply it with a paintbrush.. because if you airbrush all your coats and then do any touch ups with an airbrush it’ll become super noticeable
Can you help me please... when i try to paint over the stencils, and i remove the stencils once painted, the paint underneath just ruins what i painted.. and I also have another problem I painted my white shoe all black.. I waited more than 1 day before trying the stencils... but when I remove the stencils.. the black paint that I painted on my white shoe s take away and so the true color of my shoes comes back
So if any paint is coming off after applying a stencils that’s gunna be 1 of 2 things.. you’re paint just isn’t bonding because you might not be prepping properly or not leaving enough dry time in between coats of paint.. or you could be using a wrong vinyl.. I use Oracal 811. When it comes to paint leaking under the stencil you want to paint whatever color you have underneath the stencil first so that if paint leaks, it’s still going to match.. then do your color on top
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thank you for answering me personally i use vinyl permanent black.. and I recently bought angelus thin, I heard that for the paint to be good on the stencil, and for it to be clean, I had to mix the paint with it... I would like to send you my pair of shoes so that you can better understand what I am trying to tell you.
@@getinthemood60 that’s the issue man, using permanent vinyl will pull the paint off every time. You have to use removable vinyl. I use Oracal 811 like Dillon mentioned above
