I always feel like a centipede that does not know which foot to move first when I am counting.
I been following this channel so long, i don't even remember the first video i saw that introduced me to it. But im grateful, im glad youre still making videos Allicia
I have been playing guitar for 20 years, performing before large audiences. I learned and played by ear. I'm preparing for my RCM Level 1. I've been taking piano lessons for 3 years now. Reading Rhythm is still SO HARD. If I hear the song ONE time it's over. I'm depending on my "by ear" skills again. The only way I've been able to move through this is to read everything I can find strictly not listening to it first, and using the metronome occasionally to help me solve things I can't clap out.
Thanks for your videos. They are so encouraging and so helpful. RCM program is so cool and I wouldn't have my A and B, and soon 1 without you.
5:46 I've realized (all too late) that I am highly visual, esp. when it comes to rhythm. I'm not tone-deaf, but I am rhythm-deaf: I can never hear a difference when people demonstrate "play behind (or ahead) of the beat". I'll checkout that app... thank you!
Heyyy Allysia, I'm a beginner in piano and I been watching your videos. To be honest they are quite good and I'm getting it so quick, I started this lesson for love and I'm finding it very lovely and easy, I might have a trouble with the two hands and things like that but I will get it soon, hope you're doing good and thanks for being how you are.
Another great subject (problem) many of us struggle with. Thanks for the video. Your useful recommendations are always helpful. I must say that when learning a piece I like to count out loud, sometimes I also use the metronome but it can be irritating and finally playing along a recording does marvels. Best regards!
Thanks!

This is something I clearly struggle with, although I don't like to admit it since I've been playing for more than 40 years, because it feels so basic. For anyone in the same boat, its comforting to hear Carol Kaye (if you don't know the name you almost certainly will have heard her playing bass on something! Not sure if this link works but check ~10 mins in) talking about being criticised for her timing and going home to work on it. ruclips.net/video/q4JWqK6r6N4/видео.html
I love piano marvel
can you make a tutorial video on how to get midi files for pieces and then how to play them back to play along with? thanks
Reading rhythms isn't complicated but completing a good rendition is another story.
Where are the recorded webinars?
Allysia what piano model is in the background? I'm looking at yamaha CLPs and I thought I spotted one there
I've found the metronome distracting and difficult to use. Do others have this same issue?
Absolutely!
Yeah, I prefer to jam to albums which are on a click, so almost the same as a metronome. To get good at music takes way longer than one would think. I have 10 years under my belt as a guitar player and still feel like I'm not near the level I want to be.
It takes discipline and sacrifice but if you practice to a click or metronome, the reward is totally worth it. You'll be on another level
