i would say its the sputnik all over again. but the race isn’t over.
When the F22 Raptor was just being released, an experiment was conducted. Five F15s went against one F22 and in each iteration, the F22 won simply because of the groundbreaking possibilities stealth opened to the latest generation of fighter aircraft thus demarcating what a "5th" gen fighter aircraft means from a 4th gen. The F22 in this case was a force multiplier. Unless there is some major breakthrough that enables one 6th gen fighter aircraft to become a force multiplier against a 5th gen fighter, we can say with high confidence that any supposed 6th gen aircraft is no more than vaporware that goes into hot air balloons and popping when its true capabilities are revealed like it was the case with the Mig-25 back in the day. Today the most important is IR stealth, automation and sensor fusion. For a fighter to be 6th gen, the higher each of those specifications will be (especially IR stealth) - the wider the gap against a 5th gen fighter, the bigger the force multiplier.
@@yomiyama Sometimes... Propaganda can deceive indeed and I remember well the story about the Mig-25 and the steam rolling propaganda coming from the USSR... And China has also a big propaganda machine...
@@yomiyama Cool but what's that got to do with groundnews
China is actually playing mind games. They sent an old prototype up into the sky to scare the US into pursuing the NGAD program. Meanwhile, they actually have zero interest in pursuing 6th gen fighter and go in completely opposite direction

Yup but back then we had a bigger manufacturing capacity.
I really hope the US picks up the ball. It was really boring with just the F35 for like a decade.
The J36 and J50 fighters were not two separate breakthroughs from China, instead it's the result of the overall progress of China's technology and industry. To put it simply, it is much easier for China to design and manufacture advanced equipment than other countries. Even if the United States can design a more advanced platform than J36, China can immediately learn from it and manufacture an even more advanced one, because China has a more comprehensive and efficient industry that can afford it. This is also the fundamental reason why the Soviet Union couldn't keep up with the US. Instead of what many people believes, that because the Soviets made an advanced plane, so the indomitable Americans made the F16, it was not like that at all, it was just easier for the US to do things because of the comprehensive industry they once had.
That’s a neat little Dorito

China: "Wait, you didn't??"
We tried the spicy dorrito in the 90s and early 2000s. We learned from the development of the B2 spirit that the Delta wing style is not a good aircraft design and is notoriously difficult fly.
Good idea, but the reason they are using delta wings is because now machines can fly without the vertical stabilisers with minor course corrections in the air, along with the fact that most 6th gen aircraft aren’t meant to see eachother and if they did would probably fight from kilometres away, not needing extreme manoeuvrability
@alphateam3326 there is a computer doing the flying in the B2. Our pilots who flew B2 said that they were constantly fighting with the aircraft to get it to do what they wanted. It's one of those just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
@ And..? The B2 was flying with 2000’s computer’s and multi vector thrust, now it’s the 2020’s, and computers are way more powerful and precise in controlling the plane now. Along with the fact that we know this type of plane isn’t going to be seeing much use for Air to air combat. And wil instead be used like a F117 nighthawk by launching missiles from 100’s of miles away
a powerful computer with some talented Chinese programmers, it can be easily done. F35 buggy fly control software just shows how bad Indian programmers are.
My impression is that the Chinese rolled out their prototype aircraft for Mao's birthday. It's still a very big deal, but it's not like they're in mass production.
From a country that can build a full hospital in 4 days, they could probably make more than the US has within a year. Not to mention most raw materials we use for military tech is produced and imported from china.
@@somedude2677 China, has problems with precision parts, Building a hospital in 4 days means very little. It might impress you but in now way does this translate to superior jets. Read up on it, and you will note that no one wants to buy their fighters, no one wants to buy their commercial jets. They have a history of poor engine design and running these engines hot to look competitive. Makems, responce though, Mass Production is what you want to look for. As of now, the world does not have any clear definition of a Sixth gen aircraft, all the avionics and stealth features of a 6th gen can be replicated in 5th gen. The main difference that will set 6th gen apart from 5th gen is the newer and advance propulsion technologies and as of now USA is far ahead of China in the development of a true 6th gen engine.

No. Best guess by actual experts is that it's a light stealth bomber like the F-117 and who's only role as a plane is get close enough to a target to fire long range standoff missiles at hardened targets.
It's still slightly alarming but it's absolutely not something that could actually go up against the F-22 or F-35
It doesn’t need to. All it need to do is cover its coastline. The f-22 can’t get close enough to their coast to be effective and the only F-35C will have to be parked on a ship at least 1000miles away to stay out of range of anti ship missiles.
@@Lucas-hb1uq The F22 isn't a strike aircraft, it's an air dominance one. Meanwhile the B2 and B21 can easily make the round trip from Guam to Beijing and back without refueling. Also the nature of stealth is not "invisibility" but "reducing the range to get a target lock" which means this plane is all about getting close enough to a carrier group or bases on Guam to fire it's standoff weapons. Those weapons will still have to deal with Patriot, AEIGIS, and CWIS.
@@Lucas-hb1uq this thing will never target an f22, and you don't know what an f22 is for. Firing a long range missile at a hardened US target is like pissing into the wind.
@ You don’t understand this theater of war. This is not designed to attack the US. It’s designed to invade Taiwan and defend its own coast. The F-22 is ineffective in this area
@ We have 20 B2s and about 180 F-22s. The F-22 is ineffective in an Asian pacific conflict short of defense. Even if we tasked all 20 B2s to this conflict, the amount of damage is limited due to the cycle times from Guam to China. China would dominate in a regional war and all our allies could do is defend. China is designing for a Taiwan invasion not a US invasion
Let's not forget that the F-22 is almost 30 years old. The public had no idea of it's development until it debuted in 2005. Now think about what the US is developing right now, that no one has seen yet...

Frankly, for me it doesn't matter much whether either side possesses a functioning sixth-generation fighter or not. I'm more worried that if war does break out between them, there is a very realistic possibility of weapons of mass destruction being involved in the fighting. A war between two nuclear-armed superpowers is a terrifying prospect, especially if we assume that neither side would be willing to fold even if they knew they are already on the losing side, due to the stakes just being so high -- we're talking about an utter paradigm shift for the current world order, and what's in for the hegemon that manages to emerge as the "victor" in such a potentially cataclysmic war.
The US government has been well aware of this thing for a long time we're aware of its capabilities. We're not worried.

Bro you fell for Chinas early April fools joke. They still haven't caught up to a 30 year old 5th gen jet yet.
least ignorant american be like:
Believing that is ridiculous. China is surpassing the U.S. in multiple areas.
Until we have more detail on the avionics, engines, and radiation absorbent material (RAM) coatings of the aircraft we can't be sure about the true capabilities. All three of those categories are areas of aircraft design where typically the Chinese lack behind the Americans. Examples are how the J-35 (Meant to be their competitor to the F-35) requires two engines to achieve the same power as the F-35s single engine, how the J-20 is only an equivalent (In some categories) to the F-22 which entered service 12 years earlier, and the United States has at least a decade or two advantage into R&D regarding RAM coatings which are a large source of maintenance cost on aircraft like the F-22. Lockheed spent a very long time developing the RAM coatings for the F-35 which requires maintenance far less often. (By some margin, I believe any numbers on it are mostly classified)
Now I will say that regardless of how advanced the RAM coatings are, considering we know China has been closing the gap in capability there, we can assume that with such an advanced shape of the airframe only a fairly basic RAM coating would be required to make it as stealthy as American 5th generation aircraft. (Assuming that Chinas RAM coatings are at least as advanced as the ones used on the F-22 which, I think is fair to say at this point.)
Now we get to if this is a 6th generation fighter which, I wouldn't be so sure of. It's a similar situation to the B-21 raider in my opinion. I'm sure there is space for flight computer, radar, and AI implementation, I don't believe that those features are actually there yet. Therefore both aircraft while maybe capable of being 6th generation aircraft, likely aren't yet and calling them such is mostly of propaganda value at this time.
Overall it's just another example of why avoiding war in the pacific should be a priority for the current American administration. Even if China is heavily lying about many of their 5th and "6th" generation aircraft capabilities, (*cough* Foxbat *Cough*) it's still better to take them seriously and build something to compete with their theoretical capabilities, (*cough* F-15 *cough*) and better yet, never have to use it.
I kinda blame the NGAD for this. Next Generation in in the name, so it’s 6th gen. The J36 looks very similar the manned PCA of NGAD, thus people refer it as 6th gen.
Sadly the PCA went back to the drawing board so we won’t know what it looks like in a few years

You know, there's a super deep conspiratorial take that says these were actually helped out by the US defense department so that they could get the funding they want for new jets and so forth. After all, there's nothing like fear to get you extra expensive stuff and how better to get it than to make sure it happens.
I heard Raytheon had employees go to China and Iran with unprotected Laptops. Totally Plausible.
@dannylo5875 that sounds completely implausible to me. It would never happen. However, it is perfect for the conspiracy theories.
@SpidermanandJeny Fortunately for you. It was in the NY times that it happened.
Where is HLC coming in as the Kid 😅
America: "Hey, we should unveil a bunch of stuff people think is top secret and see how China reacts."
China: "Oh yeah? Look what we’ve got."
Rivets. Yep Rivets everybody! You Know! That stealthy little fastener that keeps aircraft together on a 6th gen fighter🤣
All smoke no fire.
This looks more like a test platform to test flying wing and intake configurations, akin to the RQ170.
The other 2 under wing engines are just to get it to test altitudes.
It’s a prototype for Xi’s birthday the other day, nowhere near mass production
I've lost count of how many times China's claimed technological supremacy.
China didn't claim technological supremacy though. This is analysis from western sources. China is quiet about it's technology.
have you mixed China with Indian? When did China claim any superiority?
@00x0xx did you say "quiet"?, and "it's technology "😂😂
@@NewkFritz it must be Chinese voodoo crashed the US stock market and evaporated 1 trillion US dollars this week.
@ 本来不想骂人,看你这么贱还是骂两句吧。你这只黑猩猩是不是刚抢了加油站有钱买药了,吸毒吸的神清气爽,竟然关心起6代战机了,黑猩猩知道1加1等于几吗。
I think the second, smaller one that was less "advertised" looked much more interesting as it looked more like it was designed for close combat !!
Airial Close Combat AKA Dog-fighting, is not a thing modern air forces really care about. It's all about stealth, about how you can stay undetected until you fire your missile(s) at the enemy target(s)
@@hermaeusmora4874 I don't pretend to know much about combat lol, I just thought it looked like a faster more fun jet for when they make the next Top Gun !!
I hope we get more diversity. I don’t want every 6th gen looking like a flying pizza, like most 5th gen looking like F22.
Umm, aircraft are kinda out of the picture, we have drone, guided missiles, space craft, etc. It’s about bang for the buck, and these little creatures deliver way more terror per dollar. Jets are for shows now. No offence to the Air Force. With all due respect, they probably are well aware.
I think jets could still be Useful since they are Fast
Fighter generations are NOT an arbitrary creation of the defense analysis community. They are an arbitrary creation of Lockheed Martin’s marketing department.
Well US Congress noticed
Japan noticed it
South Korea noticed it
India noticed it
NATO noticed it
Only watched the intro. The question is not can it recover, that answer is yes, as the US has greater number of more advanced higher quality aircraft likely closer to production status, the question is not can, but will.
Will the US stay it's present course where it looks like the NGAD program gets cut in favor of more B21 or will the NGAD program be continued?
The PCA (Penetrating Counter Air) manned fighter component went back to the drawing board, the rest still going
US just saved 500B because of China Deepseek. can invest this sun on Warcraft rather than infrastructure😅
Yeah good copium u have there, btw your super duper f35 just crashed and f22 have been crashing last time
I forgot where I heard it but it goes like this China is the first country to PUBLICLY announce a 6th gen fighter it
No they arent. The US did test flights 5 years ago. The aircraft the US has looks pretty similar. Only 2 engines though
@@bradgump9751 how do u know what the ngad looks like? from CG? lol
The NGAD is just too stealthy that no one has ever seen it.
@phantom-zk8mn from the images they released
I missed the Chinese announcement. When did they claim it was a 6th gen fighter?
Without mentioning the fifth generation, F-35 unlimited crashes.
F-35 fighter jets: 11 crashes in 7 years raise alarm over safety, reliability, maintainability challenges, 11 F-35 Lockheed Martin fighter jets crashed since 2018, mainly in US
China - We now have the Great 6th Gen aircraft
USA - Sure, you caught up, but you dont have a 7th or 8th generation aircraft
China -??????WHAT??????
How many air kills chinas temu planes have had ? None 😂
Nobody wants to buy them...
F15 alone has k/d ratio of 102-0...
I dont even need to say that russian planes have pathetic k/d ratios, and china lags even further behind.
China can talk the talk but hasnt ever walk the walk.empty promises and stolen assets, just like russia
And the best healthcare! Don’t forget that USA unbeatable healthcare system
LOL Its not 6th gen, and its not a fighter. Its also not a bomber or an attack aircraft. AT BEST its a recon aircraft. There is no spots or room for bombs or guns. The entire crafts bottom has barely enough room for the turbine intake and landing gear. As usual with West Taiwan, its a knockoff inferior product using 40 year old stolen tech and plans from the US. That aircraft is a ZERO gen.
@@15BravoYou just showcased you have absolutely zero idea what you're talking about. The weapon bays in this thing are far larger than even the J-20s weapons bays, which are already rather big.
@@15Bravo Chill dude you left the same comment like 10 times on this page, so what is it like to be a 60 year old gamer?
Ty perun
This will just push America to make better aircraft, I love it.
These planes are paper dragons.

Crouching tiger paper dragon.
@ your name says all that needs to be said about you 😂
If their planes are paper dragons, why the need to make better airplanes ?
You're delusional to yourself
Is anyone elsw getting a good chuckle out of this new plane looking suspiciously exactly like the earliest depictions of the NGAD? 😂
Never show your enemies your super weapons.
Sandbox does a deeper dive on these Chinese planes and they're not as impressive as they are being made out to be.
If I were Russia though, I'd be nervous.
Siberia belongs to China 🤫
Sandbox is a known Pentagon propaganda machine. Remember when they said the NGAD was on hold because the B-21 (a subsonic bomber) would be so good at air superiority that the NGAD simply wouldn't be necessary?
sandbox is not a good source for unbiased information my man 🤣
US propaganda is to constantly tell the world how bad US military hardware is in order to scare Congress into increasing the defense budget every year. In truth US hardware is far advanced of other nations, when you're outdated Patriot missile systems intercepts the latest Hypersonic missiles from Russia, that tells you whose really ahead
Sandbox knows nothing about these aircraft other than conjecture and guesswork. It’s worth disregarding any unfounded claims.
The reports I've seen say these are barely 5th gen but if enough of our congressional representatives believe they are true 5th gen aircraft, we're going to get a 7th gen American plane for 7 trillion dollars each soon.
USA/Soviet Union:
-Soviets make jet and prefers quantity.
-US makes jet to compete with originality and prefers quality.
-Soviet collapse with Russia being recognized as the successor.
-Russia continues to strengthen their military and modernizing it to maintain superiority.
USA/China:
-USA turns to China after Soviet collapse in 1991 as its main rival.
-China has the fastest-growing economy in the world.
-USA makes 5th gen fighters to flex capabilities
-China competes by creating 5th gen fighters by eye-description.
-China sees US 6th gen fighter experiments and decides to make 6th gen fighters with no knowledge of technological advancements.
China always give you surprises just like deepseek. 😝😝😝😝

Let's hope the cockpit of American fighter jet won't fall off its fuselage like their Boeing 737

29:28 Maybe it’s just me, but a ‘Foxbat moment’ is starting to sound like something straight out of paparazzi voyeurism. Makes it even funnier as we all stare at the underbelly of these aircraft.
At the same time, crashF35 falls another one.
That's right....😂 It's hilarious
Mig moment
Did the CCP write the script for you Simon?
HE SAID YES
remember kids the last time America was scared of a foreign military aircraft the F15 was born
“You America doubt my city plane!? My city plane much better than your none city plane!”
Yawn.... This is virtually a demonstration aircraft.... It also has three engines not two, becuase of lack of power. Chinese engines lack power, however they wiill claim it is because of "different uses". Also, Just because it can fly does not demonstrate its ability to be classified as a 6th gen fighter either.... All they did was copy the American NGAD concept aircraft. They still cannot design something genuine. No checkmate....Mate.
Everyting are assumption right now. In the matter of fact, there was not a single word from Chinese Military. Mark my word: not one single word. All these 3-engine thing are some educated guess from don't know who. Just like your prediction, it may be due to insufficient thrust. Or the third engine will be a ramjet instead of standard turbofan to enable the plane a hypersonic capability. Chinese has been deploying hypersonic weaponry for some time now. in December, short before their "6th gen flight" They also tested a mach 7 capable reusable drone (called MD-22 or MD-19). Also just launch and return, not a word from PLA.
For east asian, when boasting stopped and silence began, you could assume thet got real stuff in hand. Against Asian, feel save when they are bluffing, but be very aware when bluffing stopped.
No doubt USA had their respective capability, except hypersonic missiles. But they are alone now.
Except haven’t we flown our equivalent for the first time like two or three years ago?
They wont tell you yes or no but i saw something weird in the sky when i was in nevada near the bigass airbase they got there
Assumed to flown. then nothing happened
@@tripwire3992 no doubt they got. but The project is at the mercy of congress for being cancelled right now. So i'm not confident about the outcome of the trial flight.
@@wongkoewei9829Elon is likely to tell trump reformer bullshit about how "stealth wont work the serbs proved an s300 can get them the f35 will die to s400s" one of the reasons i think NGAD will be killed by delays is that the republican party has a giant collection of people who hate stealth they think war is like top gun radarless dogfights etc etc
@@wongkoewei9829 regardless that’s a yes
China nor Russia have actual stealth aircraft, stealth-ish from the front doesn't count. The Su 57 Felon has a radar signature of a mid-size car, J20 and their "5th" and "6th" gen are likely the same or worse. Even IF (hard if) they have actual 5th gen atuff happening they have single digits. USA has been at high level stealth for 40+ years.
yeah, as chinese i really hope more people like you, leave our j36/deepseek/ticktok/dji/unitree robot/ alone!!! Why you guys care so much!! We are still shorter of 82 foreign military base than USA.
One of these moments where I get to point something out that you wont believe until it gets announced.
The smaller craft is the PRC response to the ES-2, funnily enough, nicknamed 'Raptors', 'Vipers' were too on the nose. (you're seeing hinted at, unmanned versions of this crafts predecessor in the form of the new unmanned air/spaceforce shuttle craft in current official media). These aren't combat ready, but have made extra orbital flights.
Have fun with that 3rd war over resources and egos. You'll need to hold your breath up there.
"Most news sources are filtered by biases and agendas"
Simon, 2025
Well, it does need 3 engines where we would only need 2. . .
So, there's that.
Long range bomber/ fighter. Huge unrivaled range without the need for slow tankers.
Middle engine ramjet
@@larryc1616 how cool would that be lmao
bro doesnt know that b2 has 4 engines
@phantom-zk8mn the B-2 is much much larger. Not even close to the same class. Why would it be mentiined?
So, did China solve their problems with developing reliable and powerful jet engines? Also, have they overcome tofu dreg and senior military officers stealing materials and money at the expense of their troops?
Na channels like this aren't good enough to go over irrelevant shit like engines and Avionics on their current fighters that are an entire Generation behind. Mao's birfday was coming up so whatever Chiner put out for that is toats for real bro.
Things aren't always what they look ... and considering other examples of china's military industries this will not be an exception imho.
Very good analysis, there are many things I don't agree with with you, but this was almost spot on consistently.
I was raining Foxbat too; maybe China watches youtube videos and decided to mess with West😂
The J-36 seems to be a longe-range, stealthy FB-111 to me.
The navy needs a new stealthy F14. The short range, slow speed and low payload of the F35 is really showing now.
Imagine what we could accomplish if we just decided to work together instead of against each other.
Xi Jinping have been advocating cooperation with the US for over a decade. Uncle Sam says "No, here's more tariff". As if that's not bad enough, more US warships are patrolling off the Chinese coast & US military bases have China surrounded. What's would you do if Uncle Sam wants to make you into a US female dog?
The Death Dorito lol
China has problems making jet engines that work well, or last.
The US is working on a hypersonic 6th gen fighter.
I wouldn’t say that Mao’s reputation is unimpeachable to the Chinese people, but more as “probably more good than bad”.
