- In this video I will show how to do the 2nd oil change on the 2015 Honda Accord
LX. I give step by step directions, pull an oil sample for lab analysis and
show what the inside of the oil filter looks like compared to how the filter looked
in the first oil change. You will be suprised at the results. I will cut open the
oil filter with the Longacre oil filter cutter.

This man is gunna make this car run for ever
Thank you so much man, appreciate it, the best tutorial, simple and clear and straight to it
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!! this video really helped me to change my car oil myself. Really appreciate
Nice! I always worry a bit when I change the oil on the Accord as the engine is very loud for the first 2-3 seconds until the oil pressure builds up.
Hello,,, just watched your video on replacing oil n filter,,, excellent!… I’m wanting to replace spark plugs on my 2015 accord,do you have a video for that procedure,,, thanks 🙏
Would you pleases consider doing a video on front brake pad replacement???
I will as soon as the pads need it.
I like these diy videos, I know your car is new but I'd love to see coolant, transmission, and rear diff videos. Just a lot of videos that would adhere to other cars. Keep goin man
Well Accords don't have rear diffs. They are front wheel drive, but all the others will get done as I do the maintenance, I can promise you that.
I never wait that long. I change at 4500-5K. I use my “trip B” and reset it to 0000. Then I check it frequently after a few months. I change according to actual mileage. I like writing the date on the filter.
Synthetic oil lasts longer than 5k miles. Either you're running conventional oil or changing your synthetic oil 1k miles early, which is fine but more frequent than necessary
Try using a few Niodymium magnets on the filter after replacing.
Hi what about Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20 ?
Good stuff!
Is the oil filter tightened opposite of lefty loose and righty Tighty
Nice job
you can try amsoil 0w20 0.E.
Oil changes at the dealership went up to $60
dont you have to replace the bolt and the washer? also what size is the washer?
Don't you need to replace the crush washer on the drain plug?
Yep and I did. I even showed it at the beginning of the parts I used.
For an extra buck or less... It's cheap insurance to keep the oil in your engine and off the driveway.
Can you post the link to your first oil change that you mentioned? I couldn't find it in your video list. Great videos!
I have a question. If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you use a Amsoil oil filter?
Have you ever using castrol full synthetic?
what if i have been putting 5 quartz in this 2.4L car
Where did you find the torque specs ?
Hi Russell! I like your videos maybe you can do one for changing the CVT fluid I was going to do mine @ 20-25k Thanks!
Mine is a manual.
leave the CVT fluid alone. This is a sealed unit built in a white room. I changed it in a Subaru at 110K and it was like new. The car now has 190K on it.
Nice job with the video..
Very helpful, thank you sir!
Just curious. Why do you use that oil that you did? You used the Honda OEM filter. Why not oil? I always used Mobil 1.
I have used Amsoil for about 20 years. I have done tons of lab oil analysis on the oil. I also have had two engines run without oil pressure due to mechanical failures and if I had not had Amsoil in then, they would have seized up. Its fantastic oil. I know this because of actual lab oil analysis. I use Amsoil in every mechanical device I have (mower, air compressor, weed eater etc.).
9th Gen Accord Hi Russell are you a Amsoil dealer?
Or Mobil full synthetic, I will do my own oil change thanks 👍 the video tutorial
No Mobil 1! These engines burn oil. Use Valvoline 0W/20 full synthetic.
thank you
This is 60.00 at least at the Honda dealer.
Fast forward 4 years and now it’s closer to $80-$100! 😮
it takes 4.5 without filling the filter.
wow. only 16k miles? my 2016 has almost 21k miles and i got in february.Guess thats due to alot of highway driving...On my 2nd oil change i changed the oil at 15% i was afraid to let it go lower. guess I'll wait to 10% shows next time.
After I get the lab report back I am sure the oil is still going to be great. I will run it down to 0% next time. The ONLY way you can know if the oil is still good on your particular vehicle is to pull an oil sample.
Yes tons of Hondas with 200k + cars on road for sure! I don't sell mine until around 250k. Is this your first Honda?
No I have had many of them.
16$ for a royal purple oil filter 5 quarts ams-oil $53 25 cent crush washer. $70 for an oil change. you said $30
I can't stand the Toyota oil filer. Why did they go the same route as the German's? Thank god Honda stuck to this easy way.
I haven’t seen any American corollas with German filters
Not $30 that's for sure
Wow anyone knows that a Honda owner doesn't change their own oil they go to the dealer for that famous salon auto care, you know the 5k and up routine. By the time you get to 60k it costs you a thousand bucks, proof that Honda owners are freakin stupid if they need a special video on changing the oil in a Honda. This ricer needs to get a real JOB !
If Honda dealer can do it for 30 bucks, why would you still do it by yourself. I mean it doesn't save any money.
Y Brent 1) Honda does not use Amsoil. 2) since it's my car I will always do a better job. 3) Honda will not do an oil analysis as part of the service. 4) Unless it's a warranty repair no other mechanic will ever touch my car. 5) It's not always about saving a few dollars when quality is on the line.
My local Honda in the 209 charges $50 for an oil change. Doing it myself saves at least $15 dollars.
Honda dealer will not use full synthetic (that's the $75 option), will only replace the filter every other oil change, and will use the $30 oil change as an opportunity to identify other questionable work for them to perform. Ours wanted to dis-assemble and inspect our brakes at 10K miles (at our expense)!!
Joe The Honda dealer will use cheap bulk oil and you would hope they would be honest enough to actually change the filter, additionally you would be setting yourself up for a hard up-sell opportunity for the stealership. With all do respect: Do you think they are carrying their multi million dollar buildings doing $30. oil changes out of the kindness of their hearts to help your vehicle last longer?
This is a Honda there is no reason to cut the filter apart or waste the money running an oi test. Their engines are bullet proof. By making a smaller filter they save money on filters and oil. Worst thing many do is change the oil based on the sticker the oil change places put on. Way too soon.
My accord’s already showing %15 oil life. And the sticker says i have at least another month at least or 600 more miles. Any idea why?
@@joseespinoza4964 it’s probably dependent on the type of driving you do. The oil life monitor tracks the heat cycles, lengths of drives, and puts it into a matrix showing the oil life percentage remaining. Go with the oil life monitor in this case. The sticker is only a suggestion, but doesn’t take into account driving style.
First 😆
Boom!!!!
It's just a Honda brother. You're doing too much...
Thank you
