- I'll show you how to build a super simple Skittle sorting machine using 3mm thick cardboard and an Arduino Nano. 👇 More info below 👇
Using a colour sensor and two servos, this cardboard colour sorter is a great educational build and a shortcut to finding the best Skittles (red ones obviously!)
Electromaker sell a kit which includes all the electronic components you'll need to assemble this project. Find it, the code, CAD files, and my full written guide over on their site: www.electromaker.io/kits/ardu...
#####. The downloads are temporarily not working, for now you can find the code and printable templates here: drive.google.com/drive/folder.... The rest of the guide, electronics, BOM etc are still available on Electromakers website. #####
You can also find some other kits I worked on with them at their online shop: www.electromaker.io/shop
These are some of my favorite tools I use and can recommend:
■ Battery-powered glue gun: geni.us/BoschBatteryGlueGun
■ Bosch Bit Driver: geni.us/Bosch-Screwdriver
I use a Prusa MK3S for my projects and highly recommend both it and the Prusa Mini. If I inspired you to take up 3D printing please consider purchasing a printer via this link: shop.prusa3d.com/#a_aid=diymac...
Prusa support my channel when you use that link at no cost to yourself. :)

What a nice little project.
Thank you for that.
Wish you a nice Christmas and hopefully we will see more of this nice stuff
Thank you Sentchen123, have a pleasant time this Christmas too.
U just love how you warn us about using scissors and say nothing when soldering :D
Very fair point! Be careful when soldering. :) 👨🏭
Nice! Very well done. Thanks for sharing your code my the community and for not relying on a 3d printer. I might have a whack at it with my daughter!
Awesome project. Thank you for sharing
No problem, thanks for watching.
NICE IDEA, i'll try it at home, many thank's sir
Love this project.
going to watch it again in the morning. Maybe I can make the cutouts in wood on one of my lasers and then make the machine out of wood.
If it's close to 3mm thick wood I couldn't see why it wouldn't work. I'd love to see one made from wood. If you do make it and don't mine sharing a photo that would be cool to see.
Oh man..... my son and I are literally putting the finishing touches on your wall clock project today, and recently finished the drawing machine. Looks like I need to stock up on a few more Arduino Nano's.
That’s very cool that you get to make the projects together. I hope that you’re both enjoying them. :)
You can never have too many Arduino Nanos.
OCD Automation!!! I love it.
Haha, I had not thought of it that way. Next up, a machine to bring order to alphabet soup. :)
Brilliant!
Excellent video. Thorough steps. Nice engineering. Mahalo for sharing. : ) 🐒
Thank you. You're welcome.
Where do you print the templates
Harika proje emeğinize sağlık...
man this is a nice machine !
Thanks. Glad you like it. :0
Awesome!
Awesome project. I get not everyone has a 3d printer and you wanted to widen your audiences abilities to build one but this would have been an amazing 3d printed project. If you ever get chance to turn the templates into stls I would pay money!!
Thanks James. It’s surprising how many people want to make a 3D printable version - I completely understand. I may well have to do a 3D printed one next year.
@@DIYMachines Another vote for a 3d printed version. Also love your videos and how it's actually instructional and not just a "look what I built with all my knowledge".
@@nacs Cheers, that's exactly why I wanted to share some projects. I had tried some other guides on RUclips whilst learning, sometimes after investing time and money realised I was missing information or that it had some how been bodged to work for the camera - it was upsetting to waste the effort. DIY Machines is my attempt to remedy it and enjoy myself along the way. :)
The only thing that super glue has ever stuck to is me.
gracias man.
thank you bro
You're welcome!
It would br fantastic if you could create the parts as a 3D print
Amazing😍👌👍
Thanks 🤗
@@DIYMachines 👍
amazing :D
Thank you Marcin.
Great project, had fun building it, but now I am stuck as I get error messages uploading the code "programmer not responding". When I switch the processor from ATmega328P (Old Bootloader) to just ATmega328 the upload is complete, but nothing is happening, no movement and the serial monitor is just empty. No idea what to do next :(
Great project skillful work I use another color sensor TCS3200 can I use the same coding you used and what do I need to change if I want to use your code😢
even cooler if it counts how many skittles, of each color. Good for education on probabilities in math.
What did you use to get the color averages?
When this kit will be available again? I am interested on it ASAP.
Thought of using hot glue to encase your wires without using tape?
I’m unable to access the templates from the link to the google drive, any assistance will be appreciated 😊
why are the orage and red skiitles mixed ?
id like the mesurmant if u dont mind .
Hello! I find your video very good. Can you give me the code of the program? Thank you!
Great... but orange and red will require further calibrations...
in case I didnt find 180° servo motor.. can I use two 360° servo motors, if yes we will have to change the code,?? PLEASE ANSWER ME SIRE
We do not have a limit switch on the chute to help us know its rotation like we do on the dispensing wheel. The 180° servo knows it's position. Because of this you can't just swap them, you would need to update the code and include a limit/homing switch.
The link of Google drive is not working.😅
my 360 servo doesnt run
Hello it is posible to do similar for sort lego by color?
That is a future project I hope to make, to sort lego by colour and size. Might be some time yet though.
what other materials can be used to replace cardboard?
Perhaps something like using a CNC router or laser to cut 3mm acrylic or plywood.
Hi what would the code be with a circuit.py board?
Hi Andrea, sorry but I wouldn't have the time to write out a python version of the code. However, I'm sure you might be able to find someone to help you - it should not be too difficult.
be nice if you showed the principle of operation
its much better to download the Materials from Amazon
Not able to download the template and code. Error 500 on Electromaker website
Ohh dear - I've let them know but for now here is a temporary place you can download the two files: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rr-T1UBnACQGAZOu9dM6dTtT4fEOPN6n?usp=sharing Thank you for letting me know.
@@DIYMachines thank you
@@michy1972 This should be fixed now: www.electromaker.io/project/view/arduino-skittle-sorting-machine#cad-enclosures-and-custom-parts
Sir, Can you make a 3D printer? PLEASE REPLY
It's on my to do list but I have some other projects I want to share first.
@@DIYMachines Most projects have 3d printing stuff so can you make it your next project.
Bro pls make an 3d printed working model of iron man helmet
I enjoy the Iron Man films. That would be a cool project. I've added it to my list but it may be some time away. Thanks for the suggestion.
hello sir how much would you sell me that for ?>
