I think That in different eras it would matter more. Nowadays most cars are so much faster that you get to a point and it doesn’t matter which one is faster. In this case? A 13.5 is not that fast.. I mean if it was in the same ball park it would be less significant. It’s probably a bad driver .... or something

I agree. My whole life I considered my self a "Camaro guy". 69 Camaro is my fav pony car ever. Never owned a Camaro tho. Got my 1st Mustang in 97, and dealer has been so good to me, Ford got my loyalty. Have now had 4 Mustangs, and my first V8 is being produced right now. Yet I still really love Camaros.

Shinobi Legendario Sasuke Uchiha No the driver is a shame, I encourage you to do research online and look at all stock times. You will find that the two cars are pretty damn close and almost every car journal/magazine has said the SS wins in the 1/4 mile over the GT. Yes, after the 1/4 mile they all say the GT begins to pull because it’s DOHC and that’s a huge advantage for top end. But in this particular instance, if the same driver was in both, the Camaro should have won. This was definitely driver error.

I honestly am so proud that the mustang won it was my least favorite out of the three but this weekend I pulled the trigger and got one and I am not in least bit disappointed
Yeah, ive driven all three, and i greatly prefer the Mustang. It drove smoothest, was most comfortable, and has the best styling BY FAR. The camaro felt CHEAP, lots of road noise, wasnt fun to drive at all.

I believe that both are great cars. I sold my 2017 Camaro 2SS 50th Anniversary Manual and purchased a 2019 Mustang 5.0 PP1 a year later. I have owned 3 Mustangs so far, one which was a 2015 Mustang 5.0 with Catastrophic engine failure at 800 miles. I guess that would put me in the Stang fan boy division purchasing another Mustang after Experiencing those kind of problems.
Now to my point is that NEW age autos are almost always going to win a straight line race depending on the driver whether you like to hear that or not.
But there’s just something about driving the back roads with the windows down, cutting the curves while having to choose the right gear for those that believe manuals suck. Like a few comments had already mentioned before, pick which car stands out to you and go for it. They’re both gonna have their own problems. One may have low oil pressure and the other shift forks problems. Ya just gotta except the problems that come with these cars because there will be. You may be lucky and get a 💎, who knows.
There is a lot of things I’ve missed about the Camaro. But on another note , what in Da**** was Chevy thinking with the design of the new 2019 Camaro front end? 🤮

Ya this Camaro driver is shit. I have 2018 2.0 Camaro A8, with a tune, intake, and exhaust, barely making 310hp to the wheels and I run 3.77s on my last track day in 96 degree weather with heat index at 108 and high humidity.

Ive owned 5 different Mustangs, but I also absolutely love Camaros. Challengers are cool, but not as cool as us two Merican beasts. The chall chall is way too much of a boat to just be a base v8 RT. If I had one it would need to be a Hellcat or 392.
I have driven a hellcat. They have an extremely hard time putting the power down. Sure burnouts are great, but so is being in control.

@@jkheslekrants I'm not sure what's up with this track? I'm a Ford guy but you are right...that Camaro should be running 12.4 to 12.9 depending on driver skill. But the Mustang is also down a bit too. I watched a bunch of the 10 speed autos at the track when they first came out and about the slowest time I saw was 12.1 and 11.98 was fastest and they were straight off the lot with the factory tires. I'm assuming the DA here was really shitty

@@rrace002 ehh depends on power levels. you can make 800 hp on a stock coyote by just slapping on supercharger turbos or procharger without changing any internals. anything over 650 on that lt1 block u going to blow it has to be forged. so in that aspect no. now cams of course way cheaper. coyote just add boost thats it.
The Tenken LT ? I was saying LS. With a 15k budget for each motor, you will make 25% more power with the ls3 engine compared to The coyote- the comparisons results are around the net and I’ve mentioned that in other comments.
The coyote motor will max out completely at around 1300 while the LS. Engines can manage 1700 if I’m not mistaken on the exact numbers.
Once you see it, you will realize than it’s basically as much of a difference as comparing a big block to a small block.

I own a modest 04 c5 that’s relatively stock . These new gen cars love picking on my humble LS1 . Needless to say I don’t back down even if it means I’m watching them pull away . With that being said though , I’d rather take on a Camaros than those Coyotes. They rip like no other . Cheers
Where im from the coyote is non existent, they work that good eh. I thought for sure you were gonna say the DDEMON. When you put those in straight line mode they are monstrous. A helluva annoyance if somwone pulls up on you on the highway but nonetheless at the track their dangerous.

I actually love the look of the new Mustangs, and yes, I own a 1970 Mach 1 351 Cleveland 4 VM code engine hooked up to an fmx transmission. Pretty quick car still. I did upgrade the cam so it's pulling about 400 horsepower.
my grandpa had a 1969 mach 1 with a 4 something cobra jet i don’t remember the size but his girlfriend got hit by a drunk driver and totalled it back in the 70s he loved that car so i always have wanted one but my dad likes Camaro 1969 and i like 1969 cuda and challenger

Normally those mustangs run 11.8- 12.2 with autos. It's a decent time for a 6 speed. That Camaro did well for a 4 cylinder car though.

Garren Turk If im correct and the 18 is a 10r80 auto then it would gap the Roush S2 17 the 18’ 10r80’s are faster than Full Bolt Ons & e85 on Digs/Drag Racing that are built before the year 2017 a Roush S2 motor is stock just like the 5.0 it only has the Roush Kit nothing is done to the motor the S3 are supercharge but the s2 is all looks Lol

The Roush is all there except for the supercharger if I remember right. Its tuned but there isn't any blower.
Even though the 2019 mustang looks nice I still like the older s197s body style, I would rather get a 2011 or 2013 and just mod it

William Felix Motor Trend weighed the cars themselves as they were and the Camaro weighed less. Road and Track also weighed the cars and got different weights, Camaro was still lighter. And for round three we have Car and Driver, who also had different weights and the Camaro was lighter there too.

So I’ve owned both cars. A 2017 Camaro SS and now a 2019 Mustang GT both auto (Yeah i know). Yes the mustang is faster for sure. However I actually prefer the driving experience of the Camaro much more than the Mustang.

I purchased a 2012 V6 Camaro in 2012 and I enjoyed it. Then I trade up to a 2014 2ss 5th generation and I enjoyed it. Then I traded in for a 6th generation 2017 Camaro ss1 because the two SS was too expensive for me. Now I just traded in my 2017 Camaro 1ss for a Mustang GT 2019 with sports package. I could not take the blind spots anymore in that Camaro. I think the problem because the Camaro didn't win it's because he can't see s*** out of it. I am now a Ford Mustang customer. Forward did a wonderful job on the visibility the power. And the luxury feel inside. The road it's much smoother now for me to drive.
The Camaro is an ss 1le (6 speed manual) the mustang is a gt (10 speed automatic). The image of the parked Camaro is not the same one that raced in the videos, that is a regular ss. Anyone that thinks a stick shift 18 Camaro can beat the 19 mustang 10 speed auto is misguided. The cars are designed for two different things the ss 1le is a track car, not a drag car. Neither car ran great times, could be not the best drivers, temperature, DA, hot lapping but that is roughly how the race will go. Anyone that has drag raced a manual car on street tires knows how difficult it is to launch. Many ignorant and uneducated comments, hope this helps.
