  • There are only 15 days to go to the finish of our runway reconstruction project Cork Airport and then we will ready to welcome you back flying from Munster's favourite airport again.
    This week’s video features Peadar McMahon from Atmac Construction ltd. Atmac are the main civils contractor on the runway reconstruction project.
    Peadar speaks about his team of thirty staff operating sixteen machines to deliver the civils aspects (principally electrical pits, ducts and drainage) of the project accompanied by some drone footage taken over the last number of weeks. The Atmac Team are part of an overall runway project team of over two hundred skilled construction workers fully committed to successful delivery every day.
    Our skilled team is working their way through the project seven days a week in brightness and darkness to finish on time exactly as planned for take off again at dawn on Monday November 22.
    The finals scope of work includes:
    Finishing pit manufacturing for PAPI’s (Precision Approach Path Indicator Lights)
    Working to completion of installation of pit and ducts to Taxiway Alpha and Charlie
    Asphalt works - Surface course and underlying courses now completed
    Installation of primary cables - cables energised from Thursday 4th Nov
    Installation of secondary cables to Taxiway Alpha and Charlie
    Fitout of secondary pits continues
    Moving to finalisation of drainage installation
    ILS (instrumentation landing system) works continues
    Grooving (drainage & grip) of asphalt surfaces to completion
    Paint Marking continues
    AGL (guard lighting) installation continues
    Installation of PAPI bases commences
    We can't wait to see you flying from Cork Airport again very soon.
