Take photos not only of your suitcase in case it gets lost, but also of your handbag, other personal luggage - and your kids! Take photos of your kids in their outfits of that day, for easy identification in case they wander off.
And papers on your kids. Birth certificate Ss card State picture Id (a non drivers license) permission slip from the other parent. Passport. Once I almost became Canadian the Americans didn't believe I was my dad's. I was 7.
I buy small dog tags from Petco and put my phone number on it, so if they wander off, they are instructed to find a uniformed person and show them the tag. I attached the dog tag to one of their belt loops so that they wouldn’t be self conscious about the tag.
I remember when I was at Brussels airport. The sitting area/gate where I was supposed to wait was fully packed. I believe there was a three or more hours wait. Of course, I was sleepy. I went to another seating area/gate away from the gate where I was supposed to be at. I went to sleep. My alarm on my cell phone didn't ring or whatever haha. Maybe it did ring, but I didn't hear it, I guess. I went to the gate where I was supposed to be and I saw it was empty. I think my heart dropped. I spoke to an employee there that was working at the gate. I didn't even have the proper document filled out. I think she helped me and I was able to board the airplane on time. It was a close call. Not comfortable at all. Always stay close to your gate and try not to fall asleep if you think you will oversleep.
If you plan on wiping down your plane seat before your flight: 1. Bring MANY wipes 2. Wear disposable gloves while wiping. 3. USE many wipes...don’t just push germs and dirt around! 4. When done, use the barf bag to dispose of wipes and gloves, or bring a bag from home for the debris. Easy-peazy!!
You could also hold the used wipes in your hand with the glove, then take the glove off, turning it inside out including the wipes. Make a knot in the glove like in a balloon - no bag needed🙂
Hi there, I do exactly the same thing! If it’s right above my head, I cannot see it being pushed around. Placing the overhead bag on the opposite side of the aisle let’s you keep an eye on it every time the compartment gets open :-)
Great List! Thank you! While there are a few that are a little off, in my opinion, most of them are great and very useful! Here's one from me you can consider adding to your various lists of tips: Air Travel Hack: Book the earliest flight in the morning or latest flight at night for the best chance of not being delayed or canceled; the airlines try REALLY REALLY hard to get these flights out because they affect the entire day after them; often I have gone on flights while most or all other flights were canceled because mine was first or last and the flight attendants have multiple times told me that the plane is needed somewhere else for later in the day (morning flights) or the next day (late flights, plane needs to be there for next morning) so they push very hard to get these flights to go. My experience definitely bears this out (and for 10 years I traveled for work with top status from Contin ental/United Airlines).
Thank you for the precise, quick, and valuable tips. I’ve learned a few great ones even as a longtime flyer. The only one I would drop is the “fragile” sticker one. I know someone who works in baggage handling and he says it’s wholly ignored.
Hi, I don’t have time to watch this video rn but I had to stop cooking dinner and give it a thumbs up that shows how much Faith i have in your videos being AMAZING! Happy NEW YEAR and hope to see you way more in 2021! Love Penny
Having travelled to lots of countries I used or came across most of theses hacks but the one I never thought of was taken a picture of my luggage in case it gets lost, such a simple idea that could be of great use if my luggage went missing. Thank you!
I flew into Newark once and had to go through customs to catch my next flight. I went to the bathroom when I got off the plane and about 500 people got ahead of me in line. No big deal except that line moves super slow. I missed my connection. Now I make sure to go on the plane when it starts its decent.
I always store luggage w a dryer sheet inside to keep it smelling fresh. Also pack few dryer sheets (perhaps inside a shoe) to use when doing travel laundry. Love all your hacks🌸
Thank you for your ideas, tips and deals..... I am sure many of we hopeless and clumsy travelers would love to have your calmness and attention to detail during the last minute panic rush ..... Happy Travels when you get that passport out again....
You can add this one to the list. One time, I paid for the same airplane seat twice because I missed the first connecting flight. I didn’t know that you cannot skip the first connecting flight.
Money belts clasps can sometimes come undone, that's why I tuck the belt inside my jeans. For extra security I pin the belt to my jeans using a large safety pin.
A very good video. The most important hack is boiling any water and putting it in the fridge. Most non western countries you are taking a risk drinking the local water.
If I may add one: some airlines will allow de-planing from the rear door also. So, do your own research beforehand, but if I know this is the case (eg. Vietjetair in Vietnam), I will book a seat close to the back. That way, I can get on from the back doors, and exit also. Not only that, people without pre-assigned seats will be assigned towards the front. A lot of times, I had the row to myself.
I use a google voice number for apps that like to send codes. That way I can check texts received so long as I have internet access. For Gmail there's also the option of getting a list of codes that you can use in place of two-factor authorization. I learned the hard way about it one time I was locked out of my email account because they wanted a code sent to my regular cell phone - that of course had no service while abroad.
I love solid shampoo soap bars Shaving soap as well. Iif there is no razor in a clamshell safety razor Can that go in the carryon? The curtain trick I use those Alligator triangle looking clip to close the curtains. Tic tac 250 pc containers are great for solid soaps or phone chargers cigarette plugs. They're clear if you peel the label. I only travel with a carryon. Have a list of contacts on a piece of paper in your wallet in case you lose your phone. If you don't need your keys for your car don't take them leave keys and car at home. Do take your house key put it in your wallet. Let your bank know your going on vacation so they won't think your cards got stolen. If your not known for travel. Have your prescriptions with your prescription in the proper container Same with eyeglasses. Then any one hr eyeglass shop can prepare them if you loose or break your eyeware.
Going to your gate earlier was a big mistake in Seoul Korea as it was one way with no return to the main terminal where my family was sleeping in the waiting area thus i had to have airport staff wake them by describing what they wore among other travelers..what a hectic mistake
If you freeze a water bottle, empty a bit of water out of it before freezing. I had a water bottle split and was melting/leaking while I was on the plane. Also, I've been filling up my reusable water bottles up with ice before I leave for the airport or at a fast food place at the airport. Then I drink all the water while in the TSA line. I let them know I have ice in my water bottles. I've never had to pour it out.
If you put freshly laundered and folded clothes in a clean packing cube and a freshly aired luggage you don't need the bounce sheet. Instead invest in your fav scent in essential oils that you can dilute in a small metal water spray bottle. Once in your hotel refresh your luggage and clothing and this will also refresh your hotel room! With this tip, you keep your scent from carrying to other's luggages. Because you never know who may own the neighboring luggage and they may not want to smell like your lilac fresh bounce sheets! Thanks for the tips! Vie 💚💚💚 🛩
Great stuff, thanks. I take a small garbage bag with me to put my dirty clothes in so the smell of the dirty clothes don't get exposed to my clean clothes when I put them back in my luggage between destinations.
Oh here's another: if Rental car rates are super high at the airport, consider finding a nearby rental location - it could save you hundreds which will easily justify an extra Uber or taxi ride from the airport to the rental location. I did this last year in Vegas and it saved me OVER $400 over getting the car at the airport! I use Hertz and used their location at Circa hotel/casino; I was staying at Palace Station so on arrival got an Uber to there (it was late night and Hertz at Circa was closed) and the next morning took the public bus to Circa - the whole thing cost me about $30 - about $26 for Uber with tax and (generous) tip, and 2 or 3 bucks fro the public bus (I took the "Deuce" which is a double-decker public bus that is also a great tourist attraction, you get a top-level view of Vegas as you cruise down the strip!!! - so there's another tip!!!) Got to Circa at about 9 AM and got my car, no problems - on the return I just returned it a few hours before I had to head to the airport and then Uber'ed back to my hotel, then took another Uber to the airport when I was done - together those Ubers cost another $40 roughly, so I saved about $430 on the rental rate but paid $70 for Ubers, still saved me almost $400 and was easy!
LOVED your hacks but ... When I tried to get the list I was unable to get oast the robot thingee. (Maybe you call a motorbike a bicycle? Maybe the traffic light posts don't count?) Then when I finally got through, it refused to redirect. Repeatedly. Any help?
i ordered a vegan meal for my flight to Europe and I ate well over 30 minutes before everyone else XD I did not know about this before so it was a nice surprise
Some ideas I hadn't heard before. The one about leaving the airport before summoning Uber/Lyft doesn't seem realistic. Whether the center of the plane is less bumpy seems iffy; might be someone's idea gained from cruise ships. Overall well worth watching.
This was an interesting list, and I will definitely put a few to good use once we are allowed to travel again. Do you have a list of hacks for best points currencies (airline, hotel), and the best way to extract value? I would be interested in your perspective on which are the best/most valuable (and maybe which are the best to have/use in Vietnam and Thailand, too).
Great video, but just talk just a little bit slower. It would be better for all of us who are from non English speaking countries. But very useful video👍.

When you look up the airport map in the airline magazine, take a photo for reference for when you deboard and navigate the airport.
I remember when I was at Brussels airport. The sitting area/gate where I was supposed to wait was fully packed. I believe there was a three or more hours wait.

Use a doggy poop bag. Unused.

Wow, you are amazingly practical. Such a wealth of knowledge. I will be using these tips! You should have a million followers...
Wow! That is some good tips. I loved the tooth brush stand
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips. I prefer my overhead bag across the aisle from me where I can keep an eye on it but it’s still handy.
Hi there, I do exactly the same thing! If it’s right above my head, I cannot see it being pushed around. Placing the overhead bag on the opposite side of the aisle let’s you keep an eye on it every time the compartment gets open :-)
Kinda rude to whoever is sitting in the seat below your bag. They are usually expecting to have that space for their own carry on.
AGREE!!!@@highflyerp3
Amazing, thanks for the info .
My pleasure! Glad it was helpful, Melissa.
There were actually a few of your tips I'd never heard of or considered. Thanks!

Amazing tips ... thankyou so much.👍🥰✈
Best: book flights using _in cognito_ - fed up getting over charged for flights 😓
This idea has been around a while, but I've never seen proof this is a thing. Only anecdotes.
Money belts clasps can sometimes come undone, that's why I tuck the belt inside my jeans. For extra security I pin the belt to my jeans using a large safety pin.

Frozen water bottles and the lost & found tips are great ones!
Frozen water bottles also work great as a replacement for ice in small coolers, just freeze a couple each night.
Great content and Happy New Year. May you be able to travel again in 2021
