As a new Xpedition owner, a couple things that I had to deal with. Arrived with flat tires. Not certain how long it was sitting on flats during storage and shipping, but the armor protectant that Lectric adds in their tires had settled in the front tire and created a bulge in the tire that causes speed wobble that I hope at some point dissipates and mellows out. I too, did not like all the excess cables and wrap dressing, so had to unwrap and redress the cabling for neatness. But note, pay attention to the tug stress on back of display and power switch. If you zip tie to the neck, and turn your bars left or right, dress it so that it doesn’t stress out and tug on wires and cables. The display and power switch was bad out of the box and had to wait a week for a replacement to arrive to be able to ride the new out of the box bike. Obtaining and carrying a back up display is recommended, being that is their problem child from what I have heard. Lastly, the bike is not quite rife ready after inflating tires. A toolkit for this bike should have been provided or pushed as an upgrade at checkout but was not. After you watch the opening the box video link, quite a bit of tools are required in order to re-torque and tighten a variety of different size tools. And, micro adjusting tire bolts that were rushed during assembly, crooked or bent brake rotors, calipers, so on so forth. I chose the Xpedition for the payload capacity, and potential long range, with the dual batteries. Also, you can reprogram the PAS within the display to make the bike Class 3 28mph, (if you peel back the class 2 20mph sticker, it has a class 3 28mph already on the frame) but with the bike not having a suspension and being somewhat of a bumpy ride, the high speed becomes a bit unstable, so be careful, and maybe consider adding a seat post shock dampener to relieve some of the bounce. One more thing,
I wish that Lectric would of given a little more thought in providing a better anti-theft security (maybe quick release of the display and switch or alarm and/or built in GPS tracking) and actually having a tail light that functions as a brake light with blinkers. If this hopefully replaces cars for quick get around town trips, safety should be their focus, budget bike or not.

I know this bike comes with Slime, but I did an extra step and added Taurus tire liners for that extra tire protection because no one wants to get a flat and carry around tools and patches, or even a spare inner tube. So I have double the protection.

I love this bike. I just bought a Lectric 2.0 step thru back in June 20, 2022 and bought a folding cargo trailer to go with it so I can transport inside my Semi truck. I've been trying to get my wife to ride it so I can buy another bike. I would buy this bike with Dual batteries with the Orbitor and the XL Cargo Pannier.

I've been searching for a bike to mod out into a solar bike with trailer to do some long range traveling/camping..This is the one...I'm going to make it into a Tuk Tuk, using some thin alinumum stock for the frame, and the roof and sides will be solar panels, as well as a solar panel or two for on top of the trailer...The front Braze ons along with the rear rack should be perfect to support my light weight frame and paper thin solar set up...The solar panels will act as a roof in the rain and blazing sunshine..

Main reason for cargo bikes to forgo suspension is that the range of weight carried on the bike can vary drastically; very difficult to spec out a bike with suspension that can support a 200 lb. rider vs rider plus cargo weight of 400 lb.
Rigid fork would keep the handling character consistent, regardless of how much weight the cargo bike is carrying.

So I bought one of these bikes no suspension super heavy and it doesn't go 140 miles distance on a two battery charge. It's 2023 everybody's putting the cables in the frame hello but not this company. My brakes are squealing like hell trying to fix it at two other bike shops had to go through the gears and the derailers bent... The people on RUclips that are advertising these bikes on their channel are not telling you the bad things about this bike.

Removing the speed caps for PAS levels 1 and 2 make the bike much more pleasant, as on flat terrain they are still useful for getting to 15-24mph while economizing your power consumption.
Edit: A loud electric horn will cut through those earbuds. I start with my brass bell and tap the horn if they don’t seem to notice the bell. But I start with the horn for car drivers. 😅

Interesting. So it's loud and has warped rotors, but otherwise pretty good. Rotors are replaceable, but that's a problem you can have with all disc brakes I've found. The bigger in diameter they get, the more a tiny fluctuation from true makes a difference. I bet you can air down those big 3.0 tires for more comfort too but will lose some range. On smooth roads, suspension probably wouldn't even be used. I lock it out on my mountain bike when riding on the roads because it doesn't even move until I stand up to pedal, then it gets springy, and ruins my pedaling.

I would love to see more reviews and tests of this bike in the single-battery version. We can probably all agree that the main selling point is cost, so for those of us who are on a very serious budget (as am I, since I'm looking at this to replace my RadWagon that was stolen a couple of days ago), it'd be informative to know what we're getting if we choose the most cost-effective version, i.e. the single-battery version.

  • @sundaydiver

Am I correct in my assumption that if I buy the single-battery version, I can upgrade to a second battery later? Lectric's website isn't clear on this, as they very clearly distinguish between the 1-battery and 2-battery option on their ordering website. In other words, if I get the single-battery version, am I stuck with it?

You can drill a small hole in the tube with a cobalt drill bit & then apply high expansive foam insulation [a minimal amount] when that hardens it will make the cable adhere to the inner wall of the tube... then you use plumbers expoxy/ bondo & fibreglass or even a rubber grommet to seal the hole... that would be an inexpensive lightweight easy & effective solution to your problem I think...
