    Don’t forget to address the hyper extension at the top. That’s not necessary. Bad for back.

    I was always told to keep my butt down. Deadlift has so many variations.

      Not variations as much as personal specifications. It really depends on what your body angles are like (long torso or long arms? Long legs?). As far as variations go, there's really only two. Sumo and conventional. Look up Alan Thrall on RUclips. He knows his stuff!

    His shoulders were fine untill he was told to put them wayyy too far forward. His arms are not straight atm. This position is not possible with heavy load.

    • @spencergsmith

      Incorrect

    • @Zeoilvia
      @Zeoilvia 3 года назад +1

      @@spencergsmith it's basic biomechanics. Anyone knows it's bad to create extra leverage. This is not a clean, it's a deadlift, shoulders should go above the bar, not in front.

    • @spencergsmith
      @spencergsmith 3 года назад

      @@Zeoilvia incorrect. In fact, most athletes should have their shoulders further forward in the setup for a deadlift than a clean.

      Lol they really weren't "wayyy too far forward" though. It's hard to tell given he is wearing a sweatshirt and is using a literal PVC pipe whether his shoulders are in proper positioning. I would critique the dude hyperextending the lock-out though

    Great. No mention of importance of tight shoulders.

    Don’t get this idea of having the weight in your heel? Surely you want it spread evenly on the whole foot

    • @dominicjames2890
      @dominicjames2890 6 лет назад

      The weight on the heels means the middle part of your foot on back to your heel. To eliminate forward pressure on the toes

    • @spencergsmith
      @spencergsmith 3 года назад +2

      Just because they say “weight in your heel” doesn’t mean it should ONLY be in the heel. But it’s a more common fault for weight to shift forward, and that decreases posterior chain engagement.
