I remember hearing someone compare looking at yourself for too long, and the way you can start negatively spiralling, with how when you say the same word ten times it goes weird. For someone like you who has to see themselves all the time of course it's deeper than that, but sometimes it's helpful to remember the same process happens with other things that aren't emotionally charged in the way our bodies and appearance is. Honestly that comparison helped me so much! It's not the qualities of your body/what you're analysing that are coming to the foreground, it's the illumination of how our brains work !

I've been producing an online class over the last few weeks. For the video lessons, I filmed a lot of talking head and b-roll footage. I'm now editing the lessons and oh boy - I don't recognize myself. I never film myself from the front like that in my usual content and the friendly overly motivated speaking isn't really me at all. So I not only have to look at myself in a way I'm not used to, I also have to listen to me acting professional. It takes a toll, I feel so ugly and uncool atm (doesn't help that I'm growing my hair out from a buzz cut too) I'm really looking forward to being done with this class and take a break from vlogging, so I can rehabilitate a litte.

I try to remind myself that even though botox is "temporary", it's literally injecting botulin (the most toxic chemical) in my face to paralyze muscles... sounds crazy because it is. Also, preventative botox is a scam and often causes muscle atrophy resulting in saggy muscles. Expression is good!!
