    I fixed my 780 problems. After having an off idle stumble besides a surge at cruise at any speed and an idle that would not go down, I tore my 780 apart. I found wet gaskets and areas that should not be wet and a blown prim power valve.
    I ended up filing warped parts especially the body bottom, the bottom throttle plate side and a bit on both body surfaces where the metering block meets. I spent a total of 5 hrs filing. It works great now after replacing gaskets, power valves and so on.😅

    Hey I just found your videos, I’ve learned so much! Thank you. I’m having trouble with my Holley pouring fuel from the vent tube in my primary side. At high idle and driving it runs fine but when I let off the throttle it starts pouring fuel from my vent tube on the primary. I’ve checked the needle and seat, replaced the O ring and adjusted.

    Best video on these Holley leaks. I have original 735 cfm for my 68.5 CJ. No one’s been able to diagnose the source of leak which is on the upper right where body meets bowl and it sounds to me like he might be the accelerator?

    Lots of great info! Its been 10 years since i had to play with one. But got this old holley 4 barrel on a project car. Was just rebuilt prior to buying the car from a reputable carb shop. 2 months later and maybe 1k miles of driving I have a decent size fuel leak from throttle shaft area. Other than shaft being worn, can anything else cause it like over-filled bowls?
    Thanks again

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      If the shafts are leaking, the shaft bores are worn out. Somtimes they have nylon seals and other times its just metal to metal from the factory. You might also develop a vacuum leak from there. They sell bushing repair kits but I would recommend replacing the base plate. Good luck 👍

    Hey man just found your videos a while ago and I've been watching all your welding ones. can you do a video on how to weld tool steel for repairing like a broken wrench, Hammer, Etc...? Ive checked around youtube and cant gind any videos on it

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  2 года назад +1

      Hey man, I Havnt done too much tool steel welding but I have done it a few times. I've found that it takes less travel speed, More heat and less wire speed to get the metal molten enough for you to be able to get a solid weld in. Also beveling the two pieces before you weld them together helps a lot too.

    I bought some vasaline and chapstik to put on gaskets for my next carb rebuild. I'm hoping it helps, especially on the paper gaskets. What do you think? Or maybe antisieze or motor oil or trans fluid on the gaskets and the O ring on the needle and seat.

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      Ive heard that chapstick works pretty well but I've never tried it myself. Vaseline on the orings might work too. I usually install the gaskets bare and use motor oil or PBblaster as a lubricant to install the orings.

    I have a holley carburetor with a float bowl on the front and rear of the carb. There is a straight steel fuel line that connects the two bowls. Fuel is leaking out of both ends of that steel line. It is almost as if the line needs to be longer. What should i do?

    I have a brand new 600 Holley Brawler with mechanical secondaries and after making changes to tune it for my 306 I’ve noticed the secondary fuel bowl leaks down after filling it. There’s no power valve in it because it came with a plug, I have no visible leaks outside of the carburetor and I’m really stumped on this one, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      Well, fuel has to go somewhere and if its not leaking outside, its probably leaking into the engine. Where exactly, I dont know but if you can pinpoint if the fuel is leaking through the idle holes, accel pump, boosters, tslot or air bleeds, you'll be able yo find the cause really quick.

    Does the casing that holds the accelerator pump ever get warped and no seal correctly? I noticed a fuel around the sides of the accelerator pump so I replaced the actual accelerator pump gasket because I thought it was ripped or something. It looked fine but I replaced it anyway. When I started up the car again I could still see the fuel seeping out the sides. So I was wondering if the casing maybe is warped and not sealing all
    The way. Thanks in advance!

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  4 месяца назад

      Sometimes it does happen. Running it over a piece of sand paper and check the pattern. Usually its just a little warped but it shouldnt be too hard to fix

  • @jeremiahfiek5495

    @NightWrencher Do you happen to have any idea why my secondary squirter drips fuel slowly when the car is off? Ive tried everything i can think of and nothing works. I appreciate any insight you can give. Ive searched high & low online with no answers.

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  2 месяца назад

      Make sure you have a steel needle inside the squirter fuel feed and make sure its clean. When the car is off, fuel expands and sometimes escapes through the squirters. Once the engine cools off or leaks enough gas, it will stop leaking. Not really a dangerous problem unless its flooding the engine or leaking to the outside of the carb.

    Hey senor Nighwrencher,
    Not sure if it is me or my carb. I have a 750 4150 Holley on a 396 BB , my El Camino is insane Up to say 100 ish mph, and just seems to take its sweet time getting up to the HP at 4500 - 5600 RPM, my cam, heads, intake are all matched up at 1900-5800 rpm Edelbrock and Comp cam, I have a AF gauge, it seems to be fine all through the entire rpm range, just seems to take its time at the top end , the build is supposed to be a 550 ish build, any thoughts? I am concerned about the carb CFM but it should be fine 🤔🤔🤔🧐😵‍💫

    • @NightWrencher

      It sounds like your set up is dialed in but keep in mind that max horsepower does not dictate how the engine accelerates. If you've ever been on a dyno, you can see where the power starts to flatten out before it drops off, that's probably what you're feeling. Without completely changing your engine, I would suggest switch out to a shorter gear ratio

    • @19antman55
      @19antman55 6 месяцев назад

      @@NightWrencher Well the gearing is a 700R 4 built with a 22-2500 stall, locking Tq and posi w 342 gears , first into second is all about burning rubber she is mean from shit to get, I just would like to see it act the same all the way through the gears.
      I guess Dyno is my best shot 💉 now, and I really love your shows I have used them to go ahead with my AF gauge system, I was only off on my primary jets from 72s to 65s after the install , not to shabby from being a plug reader from the early 1970s. 🤔😉 Peace

    I don't have a fuel return, so fuel pressure goes up after I turn it off. The bowl levels start to go up, and just enough fuel blocks the air bleeds and then it develops a very slow leak on the butterflies

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад +1

      more than likely thats caused by heat soak. Try using a wooden or plastic half inch spacer
