As a Canadian, that the last thing I am thinking about, it IS about keeping your firefighters alive, giving them more tools in the form of aircraft, and making sure these fires don't spread. Politics has nothing of value in this situation. Sorry. 🇨🇦
The drone operator should be charged with attempted murder. If superscooper pilot was not so skilled, that plane could have crashed. Also, how many people will die because that superscooper is not fighting the fire?
From what I understand there are two pilots in the aircraft, and yes, they, the firefighters on the ground, possibly police or civilians could be killed.
Wow, imagine borrowing a plane from a country you say you don't need, to save your most famous city Los Angeles, and you crash a drone into it and trash the plane. Yep, that's America
Not a “quick fix” as implied. This plane will be quarantined until the investigation is complete, once released maintenance can begin. Which isn’t an “afternoon job” and once repaired will require a test flight. This plane is down for 2-5 days minimum. That’s being very generous with two crew rotating on maintenance.
@robertsolomielke5134 there's a giant dent in wing. It's definitely not flying again until it's fixed. They won't send a plane up with a known physical issue. Yes they are hardy so the make it home. But your crazy to think the tsa/faa would allow a plane with a known strike injury up over civilians.
A drone big enough to do that damage would have remote ID on it. This would include identification of the pilot. They probably already know who it was.
Not necessarily. If the plane was flying at 150mph and the drone was stationary then the impact with a typical small drone would deliver around 570 joules of energy more than enough to dent the leading edge of a wing.
@@maxsim_racing Cuz they're actually planes and irresponsible reporting made people forget what planes look like - that's why. They were ID'd immediately... as planes. Notice how once the media had something REAL to report on they stopped caring about the drones immediately? It's because they knew it was a bogus story but ran with it for the media circus it became - it directly benefitted them. It's wild everybody bought into the hysteria, just means they'll keep doing this kinda thing - consequences be damned. Funny how in both that story and this present one the through-line seems to be "we need to control and regulate drones more strictly" - doesn't that make you the least bit skeptical?
While it's possible to track logs, it won't necessarily point to anyone, they may get an ID, but like your cellphone ids on imported drones may also change. The actual system remoteID is useless afterwards and you need to be close to pick up the wifi information
🤣🤣 it looks like he is dropping f-bombs at 2:00, also who decides how to “make up” new sign language?? I’m sure “drone” is a relatively new word, right?
It's a felony to fly a drone in the restricted air space. The problem is insurance companies need to assess damages as soon as possible, criminals want to look for looting opportunities, people wanting to take pictures for sale, the list goes on and on. The only reasonable solution is to up the criminal sanctions for violators to at least 10 years.
@@cicek-kedı There are plenty of people filming it... OUTSIDE the restricted airspace. There's no need for them to fly inside, digital cameras can zoom multiple miles these days with ease.
Other than the damage to the plane how would you even quantify the damage done by having this critical plane out of service during these historical fires?
Three things, the aircraft are extremely expensive, they're built in Canada, and pilots must be trained extremely well to fly in thermals (updraughts of very hot or cold air) and be able to fly precisely over almost any water bodies at the perfect height to collect the water. Then they have to fly high enough to be safe, but low enough to drop thousands of gallons of water precisely.
That would take spending tax money on them, how are the politicians supposed to line their pockets by laundering it away when they are spending it on doing what it was allotted for?
Greetings from Canada🍁 This post has nothing to do with the topic that I am about to bring up. I’m getting a little pi$$ed at the coverage of the poor Celebrities who have lost their properties. WTF? They are probably sitting in a second home safe with no concern about being homeless or sheltering in their cars worried, waiting to return to all they have in the world. Depending on shelters, the generosity of others, insurance woes, and the potential of homelessness. Any home loss is devistating regardless of who you are however, enough! Lets focus on the true victims here. The people who have no means to replace what they have lost. Also, I’m pretty sure that Canada will continue to support the United Stated during times of need regardless of politics. My thoughts and prayers are with the First responders, the victims and the loss of life, regardless of the scale of impact. It is so horrific on every scale. God Bless you all.

They are restricted in certain airspace. Unfortunately some people are too stupid or thoughtless to consider that with emergency aircraft flying everywhere they should keep their damn toys in the garage!
Why are drones even freely flown? They need to be licensed and for operators licensed as well. As Ukraine has shown, cheap consumer drones can be unstoppable deadly weapons.
Ukraines drones has explosives attached thats why its deadly, the drone itself isnt a weapon. Would you want me to get a pilots license to fly a drone aswell or do some army flying course like they do in Ukraine to show i can fly one hahaha
So can a vehicle, going to blacklist cars now also. The item isn't the problem if you take one away they will use something else. The illogical future of forbidding the items is that eventually EVERYTHING will be forbidden. While the CRAZY people who've caused all the nonsense are STILL out there causing NONSENSE. Jeez the lack of ability to foresee the outcomes of your decisions? Great 100 years later we've banned ourselves from everything and bad people still doing horrible things to others, now what?
As a drone enthusiast and pilot the actions of the drone pilot was nothing short of absurd. Completely reckless behavior that endangered many lives and even more with the fire. In an emergency of this nature you SHOULD NOT BE FLYING A DRONE. First thing they teach you is to avoid flying in poor conditions come on dude.
Was it absurd? Was it reckless? Why do we insist on accepting and repeating patently absurd justifications for such catastrophic events (WTC, pandemic, Texas wildfires in the middle of a snow storm, Camp fires, Maui fires, Palisades fire)
@SpatProonly if you are doing it professionally, if you upload the video for monetization then you need the license. Recreational you need to register the drone with the FAA unless it is under a specific weight and why DJI made an ultra light weight drone. Anything over 250 grams needs to be registered, DJI makes a 249 gram drone to comply. The drone used sounds like it was commercial drone. They want light weight drones so it does virtually no damage.
Every time someone uses something incorrectly, here comes the ban crew , or we need more laws team. We have plenty of laws governing driving.....It did not stop people from driving vehicles into crowds.....we didnt hear anyone say ban cars, or we need tighter car laws.....Stop it!!! Everything has governing laws...including guns, drones etc....If someone uses it for anything other than its intended purpose....the solution is not always a ban or stricter laws....Just deal with those abusing it.
The problem is, on drone can bring down an aircraft worth millions, and kill not only people in the plane, but people and infrastructure on the ground. It's applea and oranges.
Perhaps you can use that logic for your own equipment. This is why you can't have nice things. Regulations are there to protect others-- you, your neighbours, the equipment and the crews which pilot it. If the regulations aren't strong enough to stop people from being stupd, then you do need more. These planes and crews are on loan from Canada. Break your own toys if you must, but at least respect that there are other countries sending people and equipment to help you. At least have the courtesy to not destroy our equipment or kill our countrymen by being so stupidly irresponsible.
🇨🇦 Thank God the Pilot and Plane didn't crash. 😔 Idiots with Drones, I've seen it a few times. Thankyou to Our Canadian Pilot and Plane for your Service to the People of California. Prayers for Everyones Safety while Fighting these Disastrous Fires. ❤🙏🏼❤
ALL law abiding, responsible people would know this was wrong. Hope they are penalized to the full extent! Thank you Canada and God Bless all rescuers, fire, law enforcement and the MANY, MANY supporting people!
They're Canadian, made in Canada, have pilots very highly trained to fly into lakes, ocean and keep the aircraft at the precise height to get the water without being dragged into it.
We lease two planes every winter from Canada and have for 31 years. Gov Newsom also expanded the CA fire fleet. "Governor Newsom has overseen the expansion of California's aerial firefighting fleet, including the addition of more than 16 helicopters with several equipped for night operations, expanded five helitack bases, and assumed ownership of seven C-130 air tankers, making it the largest fleet of its kind globally." I am guessing that Gov Newsom retained some of the fleet in central and northern CA in case of fire outbreak there. Plus, you can only have so many aircraft in the same airspace at one time - or they crash into each other.
No excuse for the stupidity. Jail time, these planes are unbelievable fighters. Have seen these, helicopters and fire retardant planes battling fires. Losing any drops can delay the containment of a fire and cause serious damage and other injuries to firefighters on the ground. The equipment is 100 times more effective than firefighters on the ground . It’s like a strategic war zone. Pure idiot.
Just a quick reminder that President Trump received an "unconditional discharge" today on the sham hush money trial. Nothing came of it. The cost is estimated to be $10 million. All for nothing.
I live in Quebec, Canada, the province which has sent these planes to help in California. I once saw one fly barely over the treetops and descend onto a tiny lake 2 miles long and less than 1/2 a mile wide to scoop up water for a drop on a fire near my home. Not only are the planes incredible, the crews are highly skilled and have ice water in their veins!
They have only 2 of these planes, working on a fire just 8% contained, and you're going to ground one because you want to play with your drone? Dig a hole, get in, and permanently uninstall yourself from this operating system we call Life. Better yet, just walk into the fire.
@@agentelvis81 The question is; why are there only two of these planes? California has fires like this every year. You would think they would have a fleet of these planes by now.
@@kwektans There are way more than 2 planes in California right now. The provinces of Québec and British Columbia alone each sent 2 planes, and more are on their way as we speak.
@@kwektans The problem here is mostly from your understanding of the topic. California doesn't just have two fire fighting aircrafts. Each winter since 1993, California rents two Canadian CL-415 and their pilots from the province of Québec, since these planes aren't needed in winter in Québec. So while it's true that California only rents two CL-415 aircrafts from Québec each winter, it also has other firefighting planes and helicopters of its own.
@@kwektans Well it seems your are... All the information can be found in 5 seconds on California's Department of forestry and fire protection website. You can find the list of all aircrafts that they have. I'm not even American and it litterally seems like I know more than you about it...
Although this opperator gives the entire industry a bad name... You haven't watched the shots online of drones that fly by crashing ocean waves and bubbling volcano pits?
The CL-415 is a tough plane. They can do a 1500 gal drop every 9-10 minutes when, like the palisades fire, there is a body of water nearby. No other plane can drop more water in a day. California should buy a fleet of them.
I have an FAA license to fly a drone for commercial work, which I do often, as well as sometimes for leisure / photography. It's sad how many people buy drones and fly them around illegally. They are causing problems for the drone community. Drones definitely aren't going away, and they will only become more frequent, which probably will create strickter rules for hobbyists. Currently, we have remote ID requirements that almost all drones must comply with. I think certain drones under 249 grams may be able to work around it but I'm not totally sure how the laws have progressed. My drone is heavier and the ID is turned on all the time. Many drone owners have no clue, and /or just ignore the remote ID requirements. The drone has a tail number just like other aircrafts do, and the ID links to the controller and pilot info. If this pilot didn't have ID on AND caused this problem it's just one more law this person broke! I do think as drone pilots such as myself, it's a duty to inform other friends / drone pilots that we know or may interact with, and keep other's up to date with rules and requirements.
Trump said they know who is flying those drones. When he becomes president with the power to declassify whatever he wants, he will probably tell the nation what is going on.
It must not be allowed to fly a drone in an emergency area, especially with plenty of emergency planes flying around in that area, drone must all be grounded immediately.
But meanwhile, you all are apparently covering up whatever is going on with the drones on the East Coast, haven't heard a word about it lately. Just what the hell is going on in this country?
Has the FAA or any other agency located ANY GPS signals? No? Then those objects weren't drones. Any drones made in the last decade or so ALL have GPS locators.
I remember watching one of these fire fighting planes tackling a blaze in Italy. They were going round and round for hours, continuously scooping up water from the sea and dropping it on the fire. The skill to do that type of flying must be immense, not without danger, and the concentration intense. The pilots appeared on the news in the evening looking absolutely exhausted. The reporter said that the pilots were being treated as heroes and quite right too.

Politics has nothing of value in this situation. Sorry. 🇨🇦
We all know the answer. Not a chance.
Hmmmmm
Yes! Trump wants Canada to become part of the United States!
@@CereCerebration When hell freezes over will that ever happen!
These super scoopers are amazing.
Pretty sure that’s a felony
The drone operator should be charged with attempted murder. If superscooper pilot was not so skilled, that plane could have crashed. Also, how many people will die because that superscooper is not fighting the fire?
From what I understand there are two pilots in the aircraft, and yes, they, the firefighters on the ground, possibly police or civilians could be killed.
There has to be extreme fines and jail time to prevent drone flyers from doing things like this!
News reported Monday the earliest
No way ! if it can fly it's on duty. CL 415 is built for "occasional" treetop encounters, in the North , where bs protocals get you fired.
Any delay at all in getting the plane up costs lives and structures.
Yup.
A drone big enough to do that damage would have remote ID on it. This would include identification of the pilot. They probably already know who it was.
If a bird can cause a plane to crash, a drone of any size can cause damage
Not necessarily. If the plane was flying at 150mph and the drone was stationary then the impact with a typical small drone would deliver around 570 joules of energy more than enough to dent the leading edge of a wing.
Not all drones have remote ID. I know dji drones have it. But cheaper Chinese drones or diy drone will not have remote ID.
Depends how fast the plane was moving
Or one of those unidentified huge drones that have been flying all over the East coast.
On est fier de vous .,..les québécois
Wow, they can determine who is flying drones? Imagine that.
Depending on the age and size of drone, yes they can. Most newer drones have automatic GPS on them.
@@ninemoonplanetwhat about those we keep seeing? why we can’t identify them?
@@maxsim_racing Cuz they're actually planes and irresponsible reporting made people forget what planes look like - that's why. They were ID'd immediately... as planes. It's wild everybody bought into the hysteria, just means they'll keep doing this kinda thing - consequences be damned.
Now there are these aircraft helping, law enforcement can spend time looking for thieves aka looters.
When they're interfering with lifesaving operations, they need to go to jail for life.
WHY ARE PEOPLE FLYING DRONES IN THIS SITUATION?
Probably to film it - that's how we get all the aerial shots
There’s a temporary flight restriction in the area as soon as a wildfire is declared.

Other than the damage to the plane how would you even quantify the damage done by having this critical plane out of service during these historical fires?
Why doesn’t CA State Fire have 4 of these??
Three things, the aircraft are extremely expensive, they're built in Canada, and pilots must be trained extremely well to fly in thermals (updraughts of very hot or cold air) and be able to fly precisely over almost any water bodies at the perfect height to collect the water. Then they have to fly high enough to be safe, but low enough to drop thousands of gallons of water precisely.
Why didn't a Californian invent these?

New drone laws must be introduced immediately. Protect us from random drone operators. The operators can be on crack for all we know.
Entitled, feckless, idiot. One of them is becoming president of the USA
Was it absurd? Was it reckless? Why do we insist on accepting and repeating patently absurd justifications for such catastrophic events (WTC, pandemic, Texas wildfires in the middle of a snow storm, Camp fires, Maui fires, Palisades fire)
We suck. I mean, seriously. We aren't a serious species.
Drone operation should require testing, licensure and liability insurance.
If you outlaw drones then only outlaws will have drones....Oh wait a minute....heard that before somewhere?
They do. You need a part 107 license and insurance to fly a drone commercially. Whoever did this broke the law
Very well said.
How stupid do you have to be to launch a drone in such a situation?😮

Drone operators should be prosecuted.
So California don't have a Super Scooper Plane? We have to rely on Canada.
Yes for Years
Canadian Invention
They're Canadian, made in Canada, have pilots very highly trained to fly into lakes, ocean and keep the aircraft at the precise height to get the water without being dragged into it.
We lease two planes every winter from Canada and have for 31 years. Gov Newsom also expanded the CA fire fleet.
"Governor Newsom has overseen the expansion of California's aerial firefighting fleet, including the addition of more than 16 helicopters with several equipped for night operations, expanded five helitack bases, and assumed ownership of seven C-130 air tankers, making it the largest fleet of its kind globally."
I am guessing that Gov Newsom retained some of the fleet in central and northern CA in case of fire outbreak there. Plus, you can only have so many aircraft in the same airspace at one time - or they crash into each other.
@@chomomma7403 Not only Canadian. Look up BE-200 Russian scooper plane. They are bigger version of super scooper, on jet engines.
This is why drones are so dangerous
“CAN” be so dangerous….drones are pretty damn safe. You just need the pilots to think.
Pure idiot.

Any available water. They're very specialized aircraft, can fly into lakes, the ocean with waves. Pilots are incredible. 👏
Actually they try not to. It is really bad ecologically - nothing will grow for years in the area treated. And corrosive to equipment.
We call them Water Bombers up here. Good luck with everything.
It's a bit different than what was a water bomber but with the same function.
The pilots flew across the continent to help with fighting the fires.

Once again we Canadians are helping the Americans but Trump wants to destroy that relationship, shame on him.
Thy shall love your neighbor as yourself
These drones are a fun hobby. This is another example of idiots ruining it for everyone else.
Why was the drone in the area. Fine and put operator in jail.
Omg..!!!!!... the one who owns the drone needs to be prosecuted up to tge full and above the law allows.. Bullshit
Respect for these Canadian aviators.
They are capable of tracking drones, just not the ones causing panic around the USA
I am not concerned in the least. No panic here.
I'm also a drone pilot, and I will not use my drone, especially in an emergency area where emergency planes are nearby.
Oh please. Stay on topic. And none of those alleged drones have done this to a plane - likely because whatever they are are flying legally.
Yes we are investigating it
Lets be honest the vast majority of people who have drones, have no clue or care about the laws with using a drone.
The vast majority of drone operators are very aware of the law and follow them. It's a small minority who don't.
This is a KNOWN fire hazard area, why are they building so close together and not using fireproof materials? Don't do it again!
Yet another reason why civilians shouldn't have access to drones.
Ban assault drones now!
Maybe it was a RC Helicopter, ban those too lol ignorant, do you say cars should be banned when someone gets killed by a drunk driver?
Canada might help again , we'll see about Trumps future , an maybe talk ...luv ya,
I remember watching one of these fire fighting planes tackling a blaze in Italy.
