    Putting your piece on a bat then on a banding wheel helps you to stop resting your hand on the piece, you just turn instead of stretching your arm over

    It actually looks really cool in the center to leave it empty. Or it might be neat to put a moon with a face or a sun with a face in the center first using a silk screen. Watching you work is mesmerizing. You handle mistakes so calm! All sorts of colorful words involuntarily come out of my mouth when I mess up. 😂 I love Monique too. She’s awesome! Thanks for sharing all the mason stain/slip info. I want to try this too. 💜💜💜

    I found a chamois strip in my clay once. My husband wedges my recycled clay for me and it must have dropped in. I’ve since attached a cork to the chamois so it floats in the water.

    Dot Art, Yay, Love it! Thanks for the mention! I might do another video in the future on all the colors I have now ceated with Mason stains. If you can get your slip at the exact right consistency you won't get the 'peaks'. I do that by adding litterally 1 drop of water in my sliptrailer, shake it, try it and repeat.....Most of the time I am to impatient to do that lol. And I go about it like you do, just push the peaks down. 😅 I am listening to the Discworld series now, written by Terry Pratchett, narated by Nigel Planer. Hilariously funny fantasy and at the same time so clever! I love the whole series (41 books). Happy potting! 😘

    Great video, thank you! In watching Paula McCoy, she notes that when making dots, if you dip the dot tool once then do a series of dots, they get progressively smaller. If you dip once for each dot, they will be the same size. I wonder if that will work with the slip like it does with the Colors for Earth? I'll have to try.
    I agree with you, I find glazing tedious, but decorating engaging. Don't ask me why. Maybe it's because I feel like I have more control over the outcome with the decorating? Anyway, you've given me something else to try! I love the results!
    I'm an audio book fan as well (and have listened to all of your books, I think!). I typically listen in the car, since that would be otherwise wasted time. Living in a rural area, it's a 30 minute minimum drive to anywhere!
    Take care, and I'm glad Mike's doing better!

      @hobblecreekpottery  Год назад +1

      Talking with Monique today, she recommended adding a drop or two of water to the slip trailer so I don't get peaks. The dots did get smaller with the mandala tools, but I felt like I got better dots with the slip trailer. That's so cool that you've listened to my books. I do the same in the car too. I haven't tried using colors for earth. Now I need to, lol.

    • @patspotpage
      @patspotpage Год назад

      @@hobblecreekpottery You can use the Colors for Earth Color Concentrates to tint your slip too. I haven't tried that yet, but I've sure been having fun with decorating!

  • @candystamping4552
    @candystamping4552 Год назад

    Hi Tiffany. I’m confused why your Stroke & Coat glazes ran… they are supposed to stay put. Maybe because you painted them over slip instead of over a coat of the black Stroke & Coat? I would try that to see if it works for you 😊

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Год назад +1

      I'm sure that was a reason, plus I dipped the mug in clear so the black underglaze was covered with glaze. Also, the Stroke and Coat dots were three deep, and that probably encouraged running, too. The colored slips worked better than anything I've tried, and I love the tactile quality the slips add when holding the mug.

    • @candystamping4552
      @candystamping4552 Год назад +1

      I would try again over black stroke & coat on outside, and just put your clear over the rim and inside mugs…I think you may get better results 😊😊
