Tiffany.....Monique.....I was just watching "The Pottery Corner" with Sarah Amos and she mentioned Monique, and Tiffany, here you are mentioning Monique as well! Today is my "binge on pottery videos day"!, as I am home alone with my 4 doggies. I actually could not ask for ANY BETTER INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN THAN THE 3 OF YOU!!! Lordy..what a great day!
What a perfect day! My idea of kicking back and relaxing. Someday I hope to meet Sarah and Monique in person. I think we'd get along like a bunch of rowdy teenagers.
Love Monique! I hear that cockerel and it just makes me smile, the cockerel is a bonus, her work is the main feature - loving your work too, thanks for sharing
Wow! Thank you sooo much. I'm still learning RUclips and was told by a friend that I needed to do that, lol. I'm learning every day. Thank you again. That was so nice of you. ❤️
These look beautiful on the black background, all so different, kept saying like that one, oh like that on, so I like them all. Thanks for sharing the detail
Putting your piece on a bat then on a banding wheel helps you to stop resting your hand on the piece, you just turn instead of stretching your arm over Love this video, in fact I love all your videos your a very good teacher xx NorthWest England 🏴 xx
Wow! Those are gorgeous! I’ve done some small magnets just to get started with the process. I haven’t used colored slip, but now I think I may have to give it a try! I like the textured surface with the slip.
It actually looks really cool in the center to leave it empty. Or it might be neat to put a moon with a face or a sun with a face in the center first using a silk screen. Watching you work is mesmerizing. You handle mistakes so calm! All sorts of colorful words involuntarily come out of my mouth when I mess up. 😂 I love Monique too. She’s awesome! Thanks for sharing all the mason stain/slip info. I want to try this too. 💜💜💜
I found a chamois strip in my clay once. My husband wedges my recycled clay for me and it must have dropped in. I’ve since attached a cork to the chamois so it floats in the water.
Dot Art, Yay, Love it! Thanks for the mention! I might do another video in the future on all the colors I have now ceated with Mason stains. If you can get your slip at the exact right consistency you won't get the 'peaks'. I do that by adding litterally 1 drop of water in my sliptrailer, shake it, try it and repeat.....Most of the time I am to impatient to do that lol. And I go about it like you do, just push the peaks down. 😅 I am listening to the Discworld series now, written by Terry Pratchett, narated by Nigel Planer. Hilariously funny fantasy and at the same time so clever! I love the whole series (41 books). Happy potting! 😘
Great tips! Thank you. Love Terry Pratchett especially the ones with Neil Gaimen. So stinking funny. Looking forward to your video on the slips, my friend. I've learned so much from you. ❤️
These are beautiful mugs. You are a very precise and imaginative potter. I couldn't do the designing, not enough patience. But you are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Hi. What an awesome job you did 😮 I absolutely love how it turned out. And you did it on multiple mugs. Girl, you're a genius and a very talented potter. So beautiful when they came out of the kiln.
Really beautiful Im going to give this a go with a bowl Thanks And side note, you were correct porcelain doesn't like being repaired I scrapped and recycled the cracked mug 😢
Great video, thank you! In watching Paula McCoy, she notes that when making dots, if you dip the dot tool once then do a series of dots, they get progressively smaller. If you dip once for each dot, they will be the same size. I wonder if that will work with the slip like it does with the Colors for Earth? I'll have to try. I agree with you, I find glazing tedious, but decorating engaging. Don't ask me why. Maybe it's because I feel like I have more control over the outcome with the decorating? Anyway, you've given me something else to try! I love the results! I'm an audio book fan as well (and have listened to all of your books, I think!). I typically listen in the car, since that would be otherwise wasted time. Living in a rural area, it's a 30 minute minimum drive to anywhere! Take care, and I'm glad Mike's doing better!
Talking with Monique today, she recommended adding a drop or two of water to the slip trailer so I don't get peaks. The dots did get smaller with the mandala tools, but I felt like I got better dots with the slip trailer. That's so cool that you've listened to my books. I do the same in the car too. I haven't tried using colors for earth. Now I need to, lol.
@@hobblecreekpottery You can use the Colors for Earth Color Concentrates to tint your slip too. I haven't tried that yet, but I've sure been having fun with decorating!
Hi Tiffany. I’m confused why your Stroke & Coat glazes ran… they are supposed to stay put. Maybe because you painted them over slip instead of over a coat of the black Stroke & Coat? I would try that to see if it works for you 😊
I'm sure that was a reason, plus I dipped the mug in clear so the black underglaze was covered with glaze. Also, the Stroke and Coat dots were three deep, and that probably encouraged running, too. The colored slips worked better than anything I've tried, and I love the tactile quality the slips add when holding the mug.
Hmmmmm...maybe keep a needle in each applicator to keep the applicator open so it will be ready for use by just pulling out the needle..This might be a time saver for you.

I love listening to instrumental music when I’m focusing on something like this.
WOW the dots, that's a lot of dots. Getting into them, they become addictive.
Yes, mediative getting lost in their world.

Now, THIS was so fun!!! Great learning tutorial. And thank you for all the referrals to learn from other slip-trailing artists.

Truly stunning gotta try this
Beautiful!
How cool, and you have so much patience. Just wondering if you have had any experience with slip chipping off. Love your work.
Those are so beautiful😅
So mesmerizing ❤
Just love it - Love your Mandala style 💕

I'm so sorry. Yeah, porcelain is a judgmental clay.

You make the best pottery items, have you ever made a hand labyrinth?
Do you have a video that sources those wonderful bats? As a blinded potter, they would be so helpful!
They are the Blecker system, and I found them on Amazon. Don't buy the knock off, get the Blecker brand.

Try this audio book. The best one I have listened to this year. Jojo Moyes Someone Else’s Shoes. Great concept and strong women characters.
ma'am iam your fane i love your work
How to make colour please make a video please
This is one that I have watched and forgot to ask.
Do you just put clear glaze over?
Yes!
Where do I buy the mason stains?
I buy mine from Sheffield Pottery
I would try again over black stroke & coat on outside, and just put your clear over the rim and inside mugs…I think you may get better results 😊😊
@@candystamping4552 I'm so thrilled with the results that I'll stick with using the colored slips for this technique. They are just amazing.
I guess I should have watched all the way through before commenting! Ha ha. Looks like this time they turned out great! Very pretty 😊
@@candystamping4552 Thank you! I just love how you can feel the dots.
Hmmmmm...maybe keep a needle in each applicator to keep the applicator open so it will be ready for use by just pulling out the needle..This might be a time saver for you.
Great idea.
you'd have to use needles that dont rust otherwise the needle will contaminate the slip.
Im still a newbie i dont know how you can do that with just a pound of clay 🫠
Keep practicing! You'll get there. 😀
