      I have to agree.
      I have a son the same age as Jetaya.
      When he was 17yo he got caught doing drugs.
      And he had done it for a while.
      I had the big ball rolling immediately. I reached every instance I could. But the hardest work I did with him. He had to piss in a cup randomly with me watching and he knew I would do it totally randomly.
      But everything would have been in vain without him wanting to do his part and ready to co-operate.
      He is ok now, has been ever since, but if it hadn't worked out this way I couldn't have said everyone else failed him. He would have failed himself.
      You can't help a person who doesn't want help or is unable to accept it.
      Sure I was lucky he was a minor back then and officially under my control. It would have been more complicated if he had been an adult.
      And my sister is an alcoholic and the same goes for her. Nobody else failed her, she has been given chances and offered help many times, but she didn't take it and still won't. She hasn't been failed, she failed herself (and her children).

    She sounds a lot like my sisters. She was very gullible Her boyfriend gave her fentanyl for her migraine. At first she didn’t know it was fentanyl. She wasn’t a heavy user and thought she knew the difference between good and bad pills. She made it to 35. We lost her 3/1/24. Her name was Unique and that name fit her. I lost my dad and my uncle to overdose back in the day. Im very thankful my kids understand the dangers. I hope our family never has to experience this kind of loss again.

    The way the mother speaks about her daughter and her faith is beyond inspiring. I want to let you know from experience. I am in recovery from a 25 year addiction and alcoholism run that almost killed me. I have also buried a brother from a fentanyl overdose and a sister from addiction and its life style. I say all that to tell you that nothing you did or didn’t do was gonna make your daughter wanna change. A person suffering with addiction and mental health issues has to want to change. Love n respect to you and your family. Never stop sharing your story. I also want to share that this is what makes fentanyl so dangerous in the fact that these kids today are being taken out before they even have a chance to hit rock bottom! There is no doubt in my mind that if I would have been using drugs in the present day I don’t know if I would’ve had the chance to get clean! Even though I used a lot of fentanyl in my addiction. When I used it I knew when I was using it and I was careful, at least as careful as an addict could be. I still overdose on multiple occasions. My point being is that it wasn’t being put in to all these different drugs like it is today! I truly hope that this family can find some clarity and understanding in this tragedy! I know me and my family are searching for ours!

      You hit the nail on the head, they have to want to quit. No amount of court mandated recovery or forced rehabs will ever work. In fact it can endanger them because they might od when they first get out. Once they truly want to be done with the addiction, there is hope for them to quit.

      What a beautiful this young woman gave! General medical knowledge ( not an expert just basic teacher knowledge)- My understanding is that opiates subdue the respiratory system. Narcan can reverse ( not always) the effects if administered quickly. Organ damage can happen over time during critical injury( brian swelling etc) and if they are oxygen starved etc but if ventilation happen quickly there is time to donate organs.

    • @rashadhaughton22

    I’m so very sorry for your loss. I am a nurse and I give everyone narcan and educate them on how to use it. I agree that everyone needs to be educated on Fentanyl and how to administer Narcan. It is a crisis. So many young lives are being taken by this drug. Don’t take anything from anyone and almost everything you purchase now is laced with fentanyl. No drug is safe. Not even vapes. Narcan is starting to be offered for free at a lot of places now. Walgreens is one of them. I carry one in my purse and several in my car.

    • @TexasPictures
      @TexasPictures  10 месяцев назад +19

      Naloxone is the active ingredient in Narcan and is also available in many generics as a nasal spray. In fact, the brand name Kloxxado delivers a higher dose of naloxone than Narcan (Kloxxado-8mg per dose, Narcan-4mg per dose). Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available in the brand name Narcan or generic versions available for free.
      It is important to recognize that Naloxone is the drug, Narcan is just a brand name. Whenever someone uses the word "Narcan" in place of "naloxone", they're devaluing all the other equally effective brand options and promoting a specific pharmaceutical company.

    • @gulumhazer
      @gulumhazer 10 месяцев назад

      @@TexasPictures I was not devaluing the drug Naloxone. Im well aware of the other names and was stating that NARCAN is what’s available in my area at the moment and what I hand out to my patients. I always educate my patients that is Naloxone and the drugs mechanism along with the whole process of administering it.

She was hiding something..she wasn't telling something about what was happening to her..she was keeping a secret or some sort...it's just my opinionated observation..kids have a tendency to go into dark places without letting others know what's going on with them.🥺😞😮‍💨.
