I have been doing "short range" (~30ly) exploration and zipping around the bubble to do grindy unlock type stuff in my engineered Adder. It's definitely been my workhorse as a newish player, and I love basically everything about it despite its obvious drawbacks compared to other ships. It's just simple, straightforward, has an analogue look with echoes of old campy sci fi designs, and has a ginormous coffee mug next to the pilot seat. I think I may also go for an mkII when I need to stretch my legs more with exploration. Yes people say go with the phantom, but I think all that red for hours and hours would drive me insane. I just don't really like the phantom much by comparison to the mk2. And it's cool to see it's extremely viable with lots of options.
I am preparing for my first big exploration trip and I also decided to fix up a Krait MkII because I just love everything about this ship so much. I went with girthier modules so my jump range is only about 43 ly. I am bringing a fighter out into deep space just so I have more excursion options to keep things more interesting.
@PrimaryHades Mine's currently above 60, which is all I need really for my purposes atm, since I'm not trying out for the fuel rats or jumping to the ass end of known space lol. I like to take my time a bit and check out systems here and there, so 60+ is fine for me.

You might not believe this, but I made it from The California Nebula all the way to Colonia in My Krait. Also really good for sightseeing because ITS JUST FREAKING GLASS
About to set out with 49 LY jump range. Any recommendations? I’ve been to Barnard’s loop, California nebula, lagoon nebula, but have yet to visit Sag A or Colonia.
@@therfspark3 I think I know what you mean with the space madness from my previous expeditions, lol! I’ve been loving exploring in my good ol Krait so far though, made it about half way to Colonia. Have you been there? Is it worth the trip?
So, this fitting is nearly a year old now. I've got a couple of mk2 fittings I'm playing with because I also like the idea of exploring in a medium ship with a fighter bay. Currently, I'm looking at bringing more mass (6d fighter bay for variety, 5d shield, larger thrusters, etc), but it's more or less similar. How did this build, which is much more stripped down than mine (and probably has about a little over 5 more LY per jump than what I'm looking at), end up performing for you?
I switched the 6b AFMU for a 6D fighter bay and put a 5b AFMU in the 5d fighter bay slot. It's currently my favorite and main I ship I explore with. Its not as bulky as a conda but still as good as an Phantom or ASP.
the reason i would use a mkII instead of a phantom for exp. is because of the coffee machine in the back.
Gotta have that coffee! :)
Agreed

Been usin my Krait Mk2 for bounty hunting and Xeno killing, but I think its time to take her out to Colonia. Nice video.
Thanks! I've taken my MK II to Colonia many of times and to Beagle Point. It was a lot of fun
I just made elite in exploration. At colonia bout to head to the center
Good luck o7
For exploring you should always fit an mining laser, to get materials for synthetic if you need it when you far, far away from bubble ;-)

Ship included
And without engineering? Pls i do not have them
