Late to the game here, but I just saw this super-informative video now. You clearly explain how the single-switch-to-fan/light problem is likely one of the best use cases for the Aqara T2 Dual Relay Module. Coupled with Aqara’s double-gang switch, this is the perfect solution to an age-old problem. The fact that the T2 relay has “wet contact” (powered) and “dry contact” (switching only) modes, support for AC & DC applications, and two switching circuits make it one of the most versatile home automation relays I’ve seen. FYI, two dry contact use cases I’m using this relay for are: 1) Using an RFID tag to override my home thermostat for 15 minutes to inject heat into my freezing cold basement office on winter mornings; and 2) Using an RFID tag in the lobby of our condo to “buzz” me in through the front door of our 1990’s intercom-based visitor entrance system when I don’t have my key. Thanks Shane. Love your calm, cool style and your inspiring and informative videos that take us all to the next level.
Thanks for this tutorial. Finally was able to hook this up. Now I have a smart fan/light for $65 instead of $200. Now to do the other 4 fans in the house.
This is EXACTLY the issue I HAD (thanks to your solution) with a fan/light in my bedroom! The workaround I had was using a Broadlink IR blaster that allowed me to create siri shortcuts but it wasn't always reliable because the switch could still kill the whole light. You also just showed me about using a smart switch that WON"T actually turn the power off! THAT"S gonna be a game changer for some of the things I need to do! I just ordered 2 Relays and a switch! Hopefully the reward will be great enough for the wife to forgive me for buying MORE smart stuff! 🤣🤣🤣
Good thought. You reminded me I can use Shelly relays to control the fan, I'm hooking one up to speed 2 of the fan and a second one (SPDT) to the up/down switch on the fan so I can have the speed reverse during the winter automatically. Once that is running (with Home Assistant controlling of course) I'll look into a 4 way switch so I can totally control the motor speeds 1-3 and maybe the light bulb (which is zigbee bulb now, but I could go back to a normal one). Stay tuned.
I wanted to do this, so I went out and bought the hub and the T2. As I went to do the research on my ceiling fan I realized it was hard wired together and only the hot, neutral and ground wires come out of the top to connect to the ceiling lines. So I think I am screwed unless I rip open the casing and expose the wiring which I really don't want to do at least at this point.....maybe some day in the future but it's still brand new. I just wanted to really stop in and say great video and keep up the good work.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing. I did a similar workaround with my wall switch where I replaced a single switch with a double rocker smart switch. The first button still powers the wall light it was originally wired to while the second button is always hot but does nothing and I use that as a remote for another light where the physical smart switch is just too far away to conveniently use.
love that you did this! i came up with this idea! I did this a while a go with 2 separate WIFI rilays, works great! love that now there is a zigbee option with one rilay that works with 2 channels! i have one more fan to automate so i ll use this one instead.
Same as. We've almost finished a full refurb of our new home and the lack of ceiling fans with home automation capability is crazy. I mean, I'm not surprised as even finding a fan in the style we like is hard enough, but it's high time the gap in the market is filled. This will do nicely! 😀
HA! I was just looking into this yesterday and was thinking about how much potential a smart relay like this has. Can always count on you to show us the review/details, keep it up man!
Made my ceiling fan smart today with the relay and did the Wall Switch because I had the same set up as your friend work perfectly thanks a lot Shane really made it nice
Great video as always Shane!! I have implemented something similar but needed additional hardware. I installed a remote controller module on the fan (similar to the Aqara relay here), programmed a Bond controller to control the remote and added the Bond controller to Hubitat. Then added a Zooz 700 scene controller to the wall after hot wiring the fan. Added the Zooz to Hubitat and set it to trigger Bond IR signals and since Hubitat exposed the Zooz to HomeKit, it was the icing on the cake 😊. I know, a lot of effort to automate one fan but we do it because we love it!! 😀
Thank you for sharing. I was able to use your suggestions here and install myself the T2 relay with the dual rocket Aqara switch. What I am not able to accomplish is get the fan icon on the Home app to move.
Hi, I used this automate my air conditioning unit, now when I am 500 ft away from my home the AC would turn on, that way I am saving energy and the home is nice and comfy when I arrive, and the same in reverse, I also used it to control my electric gate, this one was long overdue. 😊
I’ve been trying to figure out how to add my 3 ceiling fans (with 14/2 romex) into Apple Home. When I saw your video, I bought and installed three T2 relays. They worked great, but didn’t like that I had to still use the remote to control the fan speed and light level. I recently bought 3 Meross fan and light Control switches. Inside each fan housing, I removed the Aqara T2 and the remote control receiver. I screwed a switch cover over the Meross fan control switch so the buttons wouldn’t accidentally get bumped then wired the Meross switch into the actual fan. The switch fit inside the ceiling fan after the receiver and T2 were removed. I can now control the fan speed and light level from Apple Home. Works great!
Could you send a link for the product you’ve bought? I was just searching in comments to find the answer. I had the same concern after watching the video: how to control speed and brightness.
For 3 way switches, kindly describe the additional connection required, i.e.., what to do with the Two Travellers lines? Should both Rocker Switches be connected to the Rocker L1 L2 lines (which you capped in your video? THANKS SHANE! What you do is greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Your videos are very useful. I do have a small question (usecase) and I hope somebody can help me out. Can I use the T2 also as an 2-way channel switch for an light that can be controlled by to different switches? Like a switch downstairs and a switch upstairs, and where do I need to place it or do I need two?
@ShaneCreates, thank you so much for this tutorial!! This was exactly what I needed in one of my bedrooms! Everything is working great! You're a lifesaver!
I found this very helpful. Lots of detail and appreciate all you do to help us have a smarter home. I have been using a Bond controller which worked fine for my indoor fans but has been sporadic for my outdoor. This is a good solution, just wish I would have seen before i Installed as I will have to take the fan blades off as you did on 2 fans.
I’m new to automation. I feel this setup will be only for AC fans with a pull chain adjust speed. T Does your bond controller allow for control of both light and dimmable, fan and speed?
This can make many devices smart people haven’t been able to prior. Like ERV/HRV’s with remote boost and power switches. Range hoods in Kitchens, fireplaces.
Question: Most of these ceiling fans have three speeds. Any way to use smart technology to adjust the speed of the fan? Being able to turn the fan on and off is nice. Being able to turn the fan on to the desired speed would be much nicer!
I’ve been trying to find a solution to this. Not sure if the Aqura Hub 2 which has an IR/RF blaster could help here. I’m thinking you can train the Hub to receive a High and Low RF and add those scene to HomeKit. Then maybe have a second aqura rocker switch or smart buttons that you can automate. Anyone know if this could work?
The only way I've accomplished this is by using a dedicated smart fan controller switch, like the Lutron Caseta fan controller. For this, you must have a dedicated wall switch wired for your fan only.
@@ShaneCreatesThe Sonoff ifan04 is what I use. I can adjust fan speed. Also use the light. It is a thicc boi though. I have mine flashed with tasmota.
Hey Shane, is it possible to wire this thing up to the fan so that it can also control the fan speed setting or is it only able to do power on and power off? Thanks my man and awesome videos!
Hi Shane, thank you so much for the video 🙃! I have a DC fan with light and a single wall switch. By adding an AQARA T2 and a double AQARA H1 wall switch, will I still be able to use the remote control that comes with the ceiling fan? Thank you 🙏
Will this allow me to set up smart switch functionality in my gas fireplace insert? It currently uses a standard light switch that is connected with two wires to the ignitor mechanism in the heater. No power from home service is supplied to the switch. The switch functions normally, when activated manually, even when there is a power outage. The on/off function apparently depends upon residual charge in the ignitor mechanism when the switch is manually operated.
I hope it's more robust than the T1. I've had 2 x T1's fail in a matter of weeks from installation where I've had them switching extractor fans on/off via an Aqara temperature sensor. The fans were only 5w and well within the operating range of the T1. It's not as if the relays gave out, the entire units died. I'm waiting on an RMA and I'll try this T2 - assuming I can shoehorn it into the available space, since the T2 is significantly bigger.
Would the home hub 2 help here? I understand the home hub has RF capabilities such that could you send the remote high/low button as a function to Homehub and automate with that? Would that work? Been trying to figure this out as well.
Thanks Shane! I’ve always wanted something like this. I have my fans blowing all the time as a compromise to use smart bulbs. Now I just wish I could do more of this automation in HomeKit without the Aqara app.
Hey! I have this exact setup (problem) one switch and a fan/light that needs to be controlled. I like this idea and I'll go check it out. Are there any updates to this product since posting this video? also long term, how is it working? Appreciate any and all feedback! TIA.
Hi, I own a hunter stile with a remote control. I wondered if i could replicate what you did while keeping the fan controller for the remote? Thank you.
Awesome video. About to go look at that Aqara double rocker switch. Got a stupid double toggle switch that has made going smart a bit difficult in one spot. Couldn’t find one that worked last time I looked, so hoping this does, and maybe with the T2 I can make it work.
Shane, I’ve been watching you for a few months now. Love everything you put out! This video made me very excited for my bedroom ceiling fan. Got it hooked up and bought the Aqara double rocker to do the hack that you did. Unfortunately, I don’t have a neutral wire. I just noticed on your photos that you are using a neutral wire double rocker. Is there a way to make a no neutral wire double rocker work? If not, I just wasted my money and time. Please help.
Hey thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I do believe you need a neutral wire in order to achieve the result that I setup in the video. The switch needs constant power provided by the neutral wire for running automations, etc. If you have your switch wired up (wire it as a typical switch... as instructed in the manual), and see if you have the option in the switch device settings (Aqara app) to "change to wireless switch." This should disable the physical switch from controlling the power line, but still allow you to use the button for automations in the Aqara app. I'm not sure if the feature is available on switches without the neutral wire since I don't have any way to test them, but it is available one those with the neutral. If that doesn't work, I would probably wire the switch to be always hot in the wall box, then just cover it with a blank switch plate. You can get an Aqara wireless mini switch and stick in place of the old switch and program that to control the fan and light (single press for light, double press for fan for example). Then maybe you can use your smart switch somewhere else if it's too late to return it.
Wow, I can’t believe you replied! I’m going to have to give that “wireless” switch hack a try. I have other no neutral switches in my old house and I checked if that was an option-it is! Thank you so much!
If the fan has a remote control will it still work when the Aqara switch is on for the fan? If it will, then you can still control the fan speed, correct?
So I have two wall sconces that have integrated switches (constant power 20amp circuit). I want to replace them but the sconces I want don’t have integrated switches. Can this relay be used to make them smart or use like an aqara button on the night stand to control them? I don’t want to go through adding a wall switch
This is exactly what I was looking for. Closing on a house on Friday and they only ran 14/2 wire instead of 14/3 wire. Didn’t want to run new wire on a new build home already.
So I have that same set up but with a Lutron diva smart switch non dimmer version? Will this and the Lutron compete against each other?
Год назад
Maybe you have done this, but have not mentioned it: if you use the switch like this, where you only use the power to power it, you can set the switch to "Change to wireless switch" in settings, so when pressing you don't actually trigger the relay in the switch itself, only the buttons work.
Please do more examples w this device, great video thank you. (Side note I have switched some of my old single gage fan light controls to Lutron they work great but You could also just put the switch in the space above the fan if you only wanted app / voice control (might not be to code unless you put it in an electrical box?)
My mate works at a company that works with aqara and we got to talking about the t2 and we was on about making my pc smart so i could turn it on n off remotely
I have the same issue with the ceiling fan. I was thinking of replacing the wire from 14/2 to 14/4. Replacing the wire is a more fundamental solution for this one but I haven't started it yet since I'm lazy. This product could be an alternative way.
Man, good stuff.. but i really dont see it how it automate thing in this video. question 1, can i pair this rely with sensor? Q2 how to pair this with google home?
Hi What did you mean by “tied that into my neutrals” ? You have connected the neutral coming from ceiling into relay, now all the slots of relay are occupied. What do you do with the neutral wire coming from the fan? Just pigtail it off and not use it?
I think I'd like this for the bathroom fan. We often forget to turn it off after showering. Trouble is, it's a German double rocker: 1 for the fan and one for the bathroom light. The bathroom light is a Philips Hue, and I'm pretty sure if we used it on the second rocker, it would cut the power, meaning the light wouldn't be able to communicate with the Philips Hue Hub and then the motion sensor probably wouldn't work. Am I right?
On 3:20 you showed how to wire in a regular light switch but did not show putting the relay module inside the box. Does it fit? I ask because all my light switches have the same size as you have in the video. I want to make sure it fits inside before I buy one. Thank you Shane for all your videos!
This is awesome for fans. Does the T2 relay have a function that can control the amount of voltage going to the fan….similar to how the Lutron fan switch modulates the amount of voltage going to the fan to control how fast the motor/fan is spinning? If so can the Dual switch be programmed to adjust this (say with a double click vs single click or High or Low)
I'm happy you put the "I'm not a certified electrician". The cables are connected to the right terminals and you did a fine job including the diagram. However, ❗at the T2 you could see the copper sticking out of the terminal, that could be a hazard as something could easily short out making it an (fire) hazard, or someone could get shocked.❗ If it isn't a solid wire, but multiple strands, there should be a wire ferule crimped to the wire. If you don't have these the hazard is mostly fixed by cutting a little of the copper wire and push it as far in the terminal so that you can't see the copper anymore. In my opinion, if you do some electrical work you should have wire ferules, they aren't that expensive and can be a lifesaver (or prevent a house fire).
Shane, love the idea of using the T2 and a wall switch, my only question, is the relay is only on/off correct? There is no way to controlling the power level of the fan (lo, med, or high) is there?
Just did the exact setup at home…my question is how did you handle HomeKit showing you both the relay switches and the light switch buttons? I ended up having to group them together (ie top button on light switch is main light and relay switch 1 is main light so the HomeKit group is called Main light and have both accessories) is that the best for to handle that?
I would probably just "hide" the switch in HomeKit the best I could since that is really only used for the physical switch control/automations. Remove it from "favorites" and put it into a "default room" in the home app... something like that.
Hi Shane, This is a great find! Can you tell me if this was an all-manual pull chain fan? I'm wondering if this will work with a DC motor with 6 speed fan, will the T2 replace the fan RF receiver? I have a couple of RF fans like the SUFOCOR from Amazon and the Bond bridge will not pick up the controller commands. Thanks in advance.
This was a pull chain AC powered fan. I don't think it will be possible with a DC powered fan (that receiver in the fan converts AC power to DC so I don't think there is any way around it). Best option for a DC powered fan may be to replace the wall switch or use the T2 relay there, but you won't get fan speed control.
Hey Shane, congrats on going full time on RUclips! You are a class act my friend and I’m so happy to see your hard work pay off for you. I wish you the absolute best of success my friend… 😀
It’s a petty Sonoff is seemingly not available in your country. I’ll be fitting the iFan04 to 8 or 9 ceiling fans in my automation early 2025. This switch not only splits the light and fan, but also allows 3 fan speeds. Obviously I’d have to run it via Homebridge to make it apple compatible, but feel free to check out this switch, even if it is not available to you.
Great find! Quick one: do you know if this setup works with a no neutral switch? Having issue where the light/fan get power but the switch doesn't seem to turn on (despite all of its wires conducting electricity).
@@urmastertechI never got it to work properly with the no neutral wire switch. Luckily, I had access to a neutral wire, so I changed to a neutral wire switch and it worked fine thereafter.
@@mvialle darn. I bought two of these for $20 locally so I'm hoping I can get them to work. I did finally get it connected to zigbee once I connected l1, but light flickers and since I'm also using the t2 I can't totally remove power from that. Hoping the aqara hub I bought opens up to more options to put into decoupled mode. Otherwise I'd have to buy the with neutral one as well
Thanks for the great video! Found my answer about using it to control loads like light without connect the S1 and S2 to a wall switch. Qns is, can I wirelessly link the T2 to a H1 wireless double rocker remote switch so I can still switch on and off L1 and L2 individually? Hope you can help me on this one. Thank you, Shane! :)
Yes you can control the T1 via wireless switch like the H1 double rocker. You can configure each button to control the L1 or L2 individually. That is basically what I did in the video using the wall switch... it is controlling the T2 only through software/automations.
Great video! Quick question. I want to do the same thing with my fan the difference is I have a Lutron smart switch on the wall. What do I need to do? I add the relay for the fan but do I need to change the Lutron switch too or can I use it somehow like you did the Aqara?
You could probably do the same thing with a Lutron Caseta switch but you would have to automate through HomeKit or some other way. You would not be able to automate in the Aqara app so that might be a little more complicated. You would have to disconnect the load wires of the switch like I did with the Aqara switch so that it wouldn't physically turn on/off the fan and light.
Handy video To be clear, you can control both the fan and the light with one Aqara relay but for the fan you can only switch on and off the fan not change the speed. Am I wrong?
Shane, we have two ceilings fans that work off a remote and just one switch for each bedroom. Because of this room A will turn on the light or fan and it will do the same in room B, will the new Aqara T2 help with this issue. Also will the new Aqara T2 work on a third fan that’s has no light but a remote to control the fan speed, we turn the fan on with a switch but use the remote to control the speed it would be nice to have this in HomeKit and not use a remote.
@shane quick question. How do i change either of them to show as “climate” for the fan on the homekit app? I can only change to another light icon but can’t get more options for the fan. Hope i make sense! 😬
I thought this might be a solution to an ongoing question, but I'm not sure... I have an old security system in my basement with door and window switches routed to the box. My question is whether you could use this module to tap into these switches for monitoring by Homekit? Can I put something like this in the box and tie it to the incoming switch wiring. What do you think? Is there something else that can do this?
Hey have thanks for another great video. How does the Aqara compare to Shelly smart relays? As you probably know, they’ve had those out for some time. Yup have any experience with those?
Can one relay be wet and the other dry? I’d like to use the dry switch to turn on my gas fireplace and the wet switch to control the fireplace’s blower.
As long as you still have power, Aqara automations that are configured in the Aqara app should still be able to run locally, even if the internet is out. So yes it should still work.
Gives me an idea. My two garage door openers are currently controlled by a MyQ gateway. I could use the MyQ app, or Alexa, and until very recently, HomeKit via Homebridge+MyQ plug-in. Chamberlain now blocks API calls from the plug-in. So, my choices are getting a Meross 3-channel garage door opener, or maybe using this relay in dry contact mode (thoughts)? I'm already an Aqara user, with lots of sensors, an M2 hub and G2H Pro which I could move and use for a hub if there's connectivity problems. PS: I am not fan of Meross and have removed nearly all of their products due to flaky (unacceptable) wi-fi performance, so I'm skeptical of their garage door controllers.
Of course, this becomes more complicated because "real" garage door openers provide status (open, opening, etc.) and using a second sensor makes for extra automations. :(
Any idea if this would work for traditional fans in countries like India, that have the good old regulator knobs separately? I want to automate the fans in my house with speed control as well in HomeKit. Would that be possible? What do I need to ask an electrician to check when I plan to call one next? These are regular fans with no inbuilt lights or IR remotes (that being the next option probably)
Hi Shane. Will this fix my problem: I have HomeKit throughout the house and a hue hub. In the kitchen I have a toggle light switch that powers two fluorescent lights. I also have a hue light switch that turns on under wall cupboard downlighting strips. I am desperate to just use ONE switch to turn all of these on at the same time. I’m guessing if this would solve it I’d still need the hub, but before I spent £140, will this make my fluorescent light switch now ‘digital’?

I have been using a Bond controller which worked fine for my indoor fans but has been sporadic for my outdoor. This is a good solution, just wish I would have seen before i Installed as I will have to take the fan blades off as you did on 2 fans.
I’m new to automation.
I feel this setup will be only for AC fans with a pull chain adjust speed. T
Does your bond controller allow for control of both light and dimmable, fan and speed?
@@robertlandis3378 I can dim lights and control fan speed using bond controller
Can u make a vid showing how to use this as a garage opener
This can make many devices smart people haven’t been able to prior. Like ERV/HRV’s with remote boost and power switches. Range hoods in Kitchens, fireplaces.
Lovely video. I connected mine just as you did yours but I have a frustrating problem. My fan turned off by itself after running for a couple hours.
This was exactly the use case I was looking for. Thanks Shane!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Look at the Sonoff ifan04. It has adjustable fan speed.
Is it the same process for DC ceiling fan with light?
Question: Most of these ceiling fans have three speeds. Any way to use smart technology to adjust the speed of the fan? Being able to turn the fan on and off is nice. Being able to turn the fan on to the desired speed would be much nicer!
I’ve been trying to find a solution to this. Not sure if the Aqura Hub 2 which has an IR/RF blaster could help here. I’m thinking you can train the Hub to receive a High and Low RF and add those scene to HomeKit. Then maybe have a second aqura rocker switch or smart buttons that you can automate. Anyone know if this could work?
I use the bond bridge for this. My fan does not work with IR.
I use the TreatLife ceiling fan light switch and it works but you can only have one an a single circuit
Looking forward to a hubless Apple Home solution (to ceiling fans and water main ball valves).
Just what I needed for a bathroom fan and ceiling lights issue for my guest bath.
Hey Shane, is it possible to wire this thing up to the fan so that it can also control the fan speed setting or is it only able to do power on and power off? Thanks my man and awesome videos!
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately you cannot control fan speed, only on/off.
@@ShaneCreates thanks Shane. I’ll take on/off over no smart home functionality so it’s a start 👍
How does this work if your fan has a remote? Will the remote still work to change speeds and color temps of light? (Hampton Bay)
Very cool! I hope Aqara or someone else will release a Thread/Matter equivalent to this relay 🙂
Is there a setup that allows for adjustment of the fan speeds? Can you also have dimmable lighting?
YO YO....SWITCHES BE TRIPPIN YO
Thanks Shane, always well done with good info. I’m guessing there would be no fan speed control.
That's correct. Only on/off and you would have to use the pull cord still to change the speed if needed.
Speed control on at least one of the channels would be an outstanding addition to this relay.
Now I just wish I could do more of this automation in HomeKit without the Aqara app.
homebridge if you just want to pass it to homekit or homeassistant if you want to do more complex automation and still pass it to homekit.
Comprehensive video Shane, great work as always! Looking forward to Aqara bringing these across to this side of the Atlantic soon!
Thanks for watching!
Looks gr8. How do I install it for my garage door and make it smart ?
Hey! I have this exact setup (problem) one switch and a fan/light that needs to be controlled. I like this idea and I'll go check it out. Are there any updates to this product since posting this video? also long term, how is it working?
Appreciate any and all feedback! TIA.
Shane does have hair! 😳 7:02 Great information as usual!!
Surprise! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching!
Thanks Shane. I was looking for this exact solution.
Hi,
I own a hunter stile with a remote control.
Okay, so looked it up, it doesn’t work in a 3-way configuration. Might have to see if I can put a dual gang box in that spot.
@@ShaneCreatesyou called it! I got the no neutral double rocker working as you did in the video! Thanks so much for the tips.
If the fan has a remote control will it still work when the Aqara switch is on for the fan? If it will, then you can still control the fan speed, correct?
Would Aqara smart switches work with a fan on one of the switches or no?
Maybe you have done this, but have not mentioned it: if you use the switch like this, where you only use the power to power it, you can set the switch to "Change to wireless switch" in settings, so when pressing you don't actually trigger the relay in the switch itself, only the buttons work.
Innovelli had an integrated smart fan/light switch but was discontinued. Might be able to find used or old stock somewhere maybe
Thanks for posting Shane. Is there a way to control or automate the fans speed via the module?
Thanks for watching. No, this module cannot control the fan speed
Man, good stuff.. but i really dont see it how it automate thing in this video. question 1, can i pair this rely with sensor? Q2 how to pair this with google home?
Hi
What did you mean by “tied that into my neutrals” ?
Am I right?
Can this Aqara Relay work as a dimmer too with dimmable lights? Imagine how cool that would be when using with Apple HomeKit!
On 3:20 you showed how to wire in a regular light switch but did not show putting the relay module inside the box. Does it fit? I ask because all my light switches have the same size as you have in the video. I want to make sure it fits inside before I buy one.
Thank you Shane for all your videos!
What’s your thoughts on broadlink for a remote fan and home bridge integration to HomeKit?
This is awesome for fans. Does the T2 relay have a function that can control the amount of voltage going to the fan….similar to how the Lutron fan switch modulates the amount of voltage going to the fan to control how fast the motor/fan is spinning? If so can the Dual switch be programmed to adjust this (say with a double click vs single click or High or Low)
Excellent question! That would be fantastic.
Can this be used to automate a hard wired towel warmer?
I'm happy you put the "I'm not a certified electrician". The cables are connected to the right terminals and you did a fine job including the diagram. However, ❗at the T2 you could see the copper sticking out of the terminal, that could be a hazard as something could easily short out making it an (fire) hazard, or someone could get shocked.❗
If it isn't a solid wire, but multiple strands, there should be a wire ferule crimped to the wire.
Correct. It is just on/off
Great video. Thanks for all the awesome content and work you do. I used your amazon referral link. Hopefully a small but positive drop in the bucket!
How did you connect the neutral from fan to relay? You said you pigtailed it so not using it?
Since this is matter product, will I be able to add this to HomeKit directly without aqara hub ?
Hey Shane, congrats on going full time on RUclips! You are a class act my friend and I’m so happy to see your hard work pay off for you. I wish you the absolute best of success my friend… 😀
Can this be used in air conditioner wall switch or it’s above its capacity?
It’s a petty Sonoff is seemingly not available in your country. I’ll be fitting the iFan04 to 8 or 9 ceiling fans in my automation early 2025. This switch not only splits the light and fan, but also allows 3 fan speeds. Obviously I’d have to run it via Homebridge to make it apple compatible, but feel free to check out this switch, even if it is not available to you.
Do I NEED to use the Aqara hub or can I use the Home Assistant hardware with a ZigBee dongle?
Great find! Quick one: do you know if this setup works with a no neutral switch? Having issue where the light/fan get power but the switch doesn't seem to turn on (despite all of its wires conducting electricity).
Did you find anything out? I have the same issue? I'm assuming I need to connect the l1/l2 wires?
@@ShaneCreates alright! I'd be sure to buy 1 set and give my lights a go. Thanks so much for getting back to me! 😊😊
@shanewhatley can I use a Lutron switch like the fan control instead of the Aqara one?
Handy video
To be clear, you can control both the fan and the light with one Aqara relay but for the fan you can only switch on and off the fan not change the speed.
Am I wrong?
That's correct.
@@ShaneCreates thank it would be awesome if we can control the fan speed to
Shane, we have two ceilings fans that work off a remote and just one switch for each bedroom.
How about if we have a dc fan and a receiver?
Can this be used with a bathroom fan? Thats the one thing I would love to control.
Can the aqara rocker switches be configured by action? (single / double press / hold / etc)
If you lose Internet will the wall buttons still work?
As long as you still have power, Aqara automations that are configured in the Aqara app should still be able to run locally, even if the internet is out. So yes it should still work.
Is there any way of controlling fan speed or light brightness with this method? I’m guessing not (except via the pull chain)
Very cool device. What happens when your WiFi goes down?
Was waiting for this video. Thank you
If you have Home Assistant with a Zigbee dongle connected to it, do you still an Aqara hub to make the T2 Relay work?
