- How Is A Motorcycle Helmet Manufactured?
Detailed Steps from Start to Finish!
The unassuming motorcycle helmet that you take for granted every day is in fact the result of a painstaking manufacturing and assembly process which involves several steps and quality checks along the way to ensure that you get the best quality and safety when you are riding on the road.
We had the opportunity to check out how a modern motorcycle safety helmet is prepared and we thought you would appreciate knowing about it as much as we did. Let's take a look at all the steps that go into the process of designing and manufacturing a helmet before it reaches you.
Injection Molding the Child Parts
Multiple child parts go into the manufacturing of a motorcycle helmet. One of the important child parts is the EPS shell. The journey begins with tiny little beads of polystyrene which are expanded under pressure and heat to create what is commonly known in the industry as ‘foam’. In technical terms the polystyrene now becomes expanded polystyrene (EPS). The non-expanded beads are fed into an injection molding machine which puts out a shell of expanded polystyrene which is the internal shell of a motorcycle helmet. but this shell alone does not have the mechanical resistance to withstand high-impact forces which is why it is covered with a shell made out of ABS. Both of the cells are attached together using industrial adhesive into one combined external structure.
The visor that is used in helmets is also created in a similar process using transparent polyurethane beans which are pressed together under high pressure and temperature to produce clear visors or mirrored or rainbow-hued visors by adding different additives.
Buffing & Sanding
Once the outer shell is ready it proceeds to buffing and sanding station where the entire structure is polished and the joining marks left Behind by the injection molding machine is ground to a smooth surface using a special polishing machine and emery paper. This not only cleans the helmet surface of extra materials; it also prepares the shell for subsequent steps of painting the helmet. it must be noted that not all helmets are painted, and if that is the case the helmet proceeds today assembly line where the visors and straps are attached before packaging and shipping it.
Painting & Decals
After the buffing process, the helmet is completely cleaned of tiny materials and dust which might affect the overall result of the painting process. to ensure that there is no dust left on the surface of the helmet, multiple steps are done by the surface is rubbed with industrial alcohol and subjected to vacuum machines where even the tiniest dust particle is completely absorbed before the helmet proceeds to a hermetically sealed painting booth. Depending on the pre-decided color and design options the colors and mix by an expert and using a painting gun the surface is painted with a base coat and that is followed by another layer of the primary color. As soon as this process is complete, the helmet proceeds to the decal section of the Assembly line where expert workers paste decorative and colorful decals on the helmet and allow the helmet to set settle for a period of 3 to 4 hours (maximum of 8 hours) after which it goes back into the paint shop for a final layer of top coat.
Attaching the visors and straps
In a separate part of the manufacturing unit, workers design the straps and strapping mechanism along with other rivets and bushes that go into the helmet for securing the strap in place. Once the helmet comes out of the paint shop, workers in the assembly line merge the painted shell with the visor mechanism along with the strapping mechanism using multiple specialized tools for punching holes and attaching the straps security. Die-cut and Laser machines are used to precisely cut the pads and inner lining of the helmet with an accuracy of a few millimeters which ensure that the wearer gets the best comfort and safety while using the product.
Packaging & Shipping
Finally, the finished product is packaged and shipped to multiple destinations across the world along with documentations to help the customer make the best use of the product.

As a guy who got in a motorcycle accident a lot of times, it is really imperative to buy an original and graded helmet even if its expensive. It save my head 3 times already. I here just for the appreciation
if you had 3 crashes already then you should better your driving skills or get an appointment with someone who can take away the evil spell on you thats causing the accidents
maybe you shouldn't be riding a motorcycle dude
next time you maybe won't get a chance to write about it
If you keep crashing maybe get a car instead

2 thin layers of glass mat bonded together by a dangerously guessed mixture of resin glue. a luggage strap for under your chin... you would be safer not wearing it. turning it upside down and using as a hanging flower basket.
Wearing nothing you wouldn’t die from the strap snapping your neck
Every one of the workers in this video are clearly very good at their jobs; it’s just a pity that their combined efforts are producing an item that in the event of a head on collision with anything harder than a pile of pillows, will ultimately kill or seriously injure the end user.
I’m betting that the warranty excludes any claims made by the original owner’s next of kin.
Can’t wait to see their range of parachutes.
You would be surprised where the stuff comes from that costs a fortune for the "super precious" folk who think if it has a massive price tag it MUST be better, daft carbon fibre brake users are one of those sorts....they are made in the dirt street in India and Pakistan then have BREMBO or some other fancy Co name printed on them LOL.....suckers dont mind paying for it then if it has "trendy" anywhere on it.

Shoei's new factory looking good!
These videos have more advantages than disadvantages. Why, we now see things as they are
I really do hope these helmets are sold at an extremely low price so the people who cant afford anything else can at least afford these. These are _arguably_ better than nothing.
Although I don't think an extra layer of fiber glass would hurt. Or better chin strap design. Double D rings are super cheap to make and are much safer.
A person who can own a bike can own a helmet too .
At first have the money to buy helmet .
If you can buy a bike why not Helmets.
A lot of motorcycle commuters just don't care for their own safety. How much can the govt force them at the end of the day. These cost like $5-10. I think.
Just to escape traffic police.
Afford cheap death?…. Lol
Very unsafe for the riders and the workers. Airborne fiberglass could enter these workers' lungs and give them problems for the rest of their lives while the riders using these are only protected by dust.
Todos los dias se aprenden cosas nuevas 👌
Skilled and admirably hard working as they may be, there's something painfully ironic about watching people build "safety" equipment with absolutely no safety standards or regulations for them, the factory and the product itself. I'd wager most people reading this would not be able to stand in that factory for a minute before getting sick or high from the fumes alone. Rest assured not all helmets are made this way but my hope is this is a "welcome to the real world" moment for most of my westernized friends. While not always this crazy (and sometimes worse), most factories I've been to in developing countries echo some of these attributes.
What you buy and how you choose to research what you buy (or in general: where you put your money) has several orders of magnitude more impact on global actions than any meme you post or how you choose to vote or any sign you hold up in a crowd. Want to change the world? Pay attention to where your money goes. If you don't like where it's ending up, get it out of there.

You are going wrong bro. They are just following the process of making “Fiver” helmets. But they are not maintaining the “Standard” of “Carbon Fiber Helmets” like “SHOEI” and “ARAI”. They are doing just only one coat of “Fiber”. Also these fivers are not so strong enough. If you show the video of making ‘‘ARAI” helmets in you tube then you understand the differences. At least 2 or 3 strong layers of ‘Fiver’ do make the outer cell of ARAI, SHOEI helmets. It will far better for rides to use “ABS material” helmets then this cheap quality “Fiver” helmets.

@@thra5herxb12s This is not India, it's pakistan Indian helmets are still better.
I think I see how this whole system works. Pakistani law states that motorcyclists must wear a helmet that conforms to a particular standard. The police can easily determine if a rider is wearing one, but don't have the facilities to check that it conforms to standard. The rider buys the cheapest helmet that saves him from a fine and carries on riding, with the attitude that his helmet is no protection, just as was the case before the law came into force. The only winners here are the helmet manufacturers, and the law-makers who now have a tick in the box marked "head protection for motorcyclists".
the wife/sis/daughter doesn't mater wearing a helmet or not worst video i have ever seen giving me a bad mood of the pakistani status shame for uploading such video.

Well if you used all that glass then it might be effective.
As the former manager of a motorcycle clothing and equipment manufacturer and seller that sold the most helmets in the UK, this video is truly the stuff of nightmares - excruciatingly horrific nightmares!
Let's be absolutely clear, this is not a motorcycle safety helmet, it merely loosely resembles one, albeit from a great distance!
There wasn't actually one aspect of the video that particularly filled me with horror, it continued throughout, with increasing amounts as various things took place before my horrified eyes!
Expectations, like standards, vary, and in the realm of motorcycle helmets that's a really good thing for the manufacturer and their customers.
However, in this place there are no standards for the manufacturer to aim for, there was more care taken with the application of stickers than for any other aspect of the build.
I was somewhat horrified at how the straps were fitted, but then I realised that irrespective of anything else, if this 'thing' were to part company with whomever was unfortunate to be wearing it, their injuries aren't likely to increase...
The poor people that buy these things do so in the belief that they're getting a piece of safety equipment, and nothing could be further from the truth.
I am genuinely saddened to see such garbage being passed off as protective equipment.
These people have absolute contempt for the safety and wellbeing of their customers.
All that and you didn't say why they are so bad.

@Wegz, that’s not the point. What price do you want to put on your brain? Having had an off at 120mph and in a coma for 8 weeks, I don’t think I want to wake up as a vegetable. A good helmet saves lives, and like I said, that piece of crap wouldn’t protect a flower pot even at 30kph. If I was this guy, I would be embarrassed to show this standard of work on YT.
