It's funny how people hate on something they can't even afford. How can you say Audi a8 is better than lexus ls460 or vice versa when you probably never even driven a luxury car let alone afford one.
My dad has this car but the model with air suspension, and trust me, it will bore you to DEATH driving normally, but when you get into sport +, it will blow you away.
Did I understand you to say that the short wheelbase version gives up only an inch compared with the long wheelbase version? The difference is about 5 inches. Also I can speak from experience: I have had a recent S Class, a 2014 A8 and a 2014 LS460L. The S Class was troublesome (8 weeks at the dealer for an intermittent problem), The A8 has tire roar that will give you a headache. The LS is smooth, quiet, comfortable and in red it is quite beautiful. The only obvious thing about the LS is the grabby brakes which any self-respecting engineer should never have allowed. You get used to it however. Also Lexus does NOT have run flat tires, a big PLUS.
I was commenting on rear seat legroom specifically, where the LS 460 offers 35.8" while the LS 460 L has 36.7", according to Lexus. The wheelbase is about 5" longer which Lexus attributes the additional 5" in couple distance.
You are right. Lexus shows the figures you mention for leg room. I don't know what "couple distance" means but I can see an enormous difference between the standard LS and the L in the distance between the back seat and the front seat.
@BrightsonDavid that's funny we have the same taste apparently is your is awd and I'd you got the ls 460 would u want the awd the rear wheel drive with the little extra power ?
That is why the LS is ranked #1 at JD power and all the german super luxury cars are below it..you sure know much about cars..just because the Germans are the first who made cars doesn't mean others can't improve them..
The Reg.LS 460 Gets 17c- 27hwy,W/the 8 Spd Auto. Power of A Big Blk.,Mlg.Almost As Good As An ES 350,V- 6,No Tks.on the AWD. I'd Rather Have a Low Mlg. LS430, Will Probably Out Handle Both the LS 460' s, & Match Gas Mlg.W/ 2 Less Gears.
I'd really like to see Infiniti and Acura enter this segment with a full sized luxury car and see what they would bring to the table. For now their mid-sizers are as big as their luxury sedans come.
@ Dave Dunn I don't get why people think German are unreliable. My friends mom had a 1994 BMW 5 series for 17 years with no problems so I don't get why people say they are unrealiable.
The A8 may be selling better, because the S class last redesign was in 2006, and the bmw in 2009. Now with the new generation S-class, the others sales will be way lower. The S class is the most sold full sized luxury sedan in the world since the 70's. It's average world sales are about 50.000 per year, which is way better than A8 ou 7series
@slimecrazy234 each of the three German sedans has its own personality. Historically, the S-class has been the most comfortable and always comes with a great degree of technological innovation, but the BMW 7 series tends to give the driver a sportier driving experience. The audi A8 is a blend of the other two with much better styling that isn't too ostentatious(in my opinion) and what have to be the best interiors in the business. Besides, as of recently, it's the A8 that has been selling best.
Those are 19 inch wheels? If so they look small on such a big car? Never been a fan or Lexus but I guess this is better than past versions. The Germans seem to have this segment covered sorry Lexus.
That may have been true in the 70's & 80's..but it's no longer true now. I drive a MB S-Class..and I look forward to moving on to the Lexus LS just to avoid any more hideous repair bills and lack of reliability. But yes..when German cars are new and everything works..they are a joy to drive. Sadly..that joy doesn't last long once the repairs start rolling in and your wallet suddenly becomes lighter.
ignorance at it's best..the only german car I can think of that stands next to this car is MB S class 2014..that is it..BMW7 with it's outdated interior and crappy facelift got nothing on this beauty..Audi A8L is nice, I test drove it..but the LS is more comfortable, has more standard features, better looking, more reliable and has better resell value..
Why must people create such a mess when it comes to international car companies? Do people not understand that saying German cars are the best is pointless, considering the fact that it isn't true? Every country has its own advantages when it comes to cars. For example, Japanese automakers are leading in luxury, reliability, and today, style. So how can you possibly not consider that and blatantly say that German is the best without considering all the facts and details. Biased idiots.
Yeah, no. The only car in this segment in its own league is the S-class, the "German" cachet rubs off of that car and onto the lesser 7 series and A8. The A8 is a false starter in the segment with its FWD based platform and upsized Passat styling. The 7 series has always been in the shadow of the S-class for the uber German luxo barge. The LS is the most sensible choice. A cheaper more reliable S-class without the poor image of the BMW and the inferior layout of the Audi.
I wish Lexus would bring back a version of the elegant styling of the LS 430. These new LS's just look like pregnant Camry's..and this new grill is so ugly I can't believe they made it. Hire new designers Lexus if you want my money!

My sister 👩 just got this car she hates it. 😢but I like it. She’s thinking about trading it in for a jeep wrangler
@@DiaperSNiFFER Jeep is no where near as good as this Lexus, unless if she checks all those boxes for off roading, space, I guess
@@k.skyl1n3zz believe it or not a jeep wrangler 4XE is faster from 0-60 then this v8 Lexus 🤭
@@k.skyl1n3zz and jeep wranglers hold there value

that is actually a nice color for the car
I love my LS....
He's been loving Lexus this past week
Idk why so many people dislike brown, i personally think lexus is the only company to successfully pull off brown.

It looks fantastic. It's actually desirable now .

@TheHuracan15 Sorry, buddy. You're wrong. The AWD model produces 360hp and not 386.
Steve, Can't wait to see your take on the 2014 Lexus IS.
I have a 2009 lexus is 250. But i have decided if i get another car this is it
omg same! but my IS is a 2008.
@BrightsonDavid that's funny we have the same taste apparently is your is awd and I'd you got the ls 460 would u want the awd the rear wheel drive with the little extra power ?
I like your reviews.
Great review stevo
Love this vehicles!! Any plans for an A8L review??
Thanks!

I agree Dave Dunn
Compared to what? This Vehicle sports one of the best interior in its class.
Hey steve are you going to review the new tc?

Steve, will you review the 2014 hyundai genesis when revealed, and goes on sale???
Hey Steve, just curious, but what car do you own ? I know you have a family so I doubt it's something like an MX-5, but I was just curious.
Nice still!!!!!!
Waiting on a date.
Steve can you please do the 2014 MDX
I'd really like to see Infiniti and Acura enter this segment with a full sized luxury car and see what they would bring to the table. For now their mid-sizers are as big as their luxury sedans come.
The Infiniti Q45, all years are full-size luxury sedans.
Any chance you will review the Acura RLX Steve?
@ Dave Dunn I don't get why people think German are unreliable. My friends mom had a 1994 BMW 5 series for 17 years with no problems so I don't get why people say they are unrealiable.
steve plz plz plz review the fiesta st!!!
Perhaps the flagship luxury car to get -- also undercuts BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class by at least $10,000+.
This is the last one until the IS arrives.
No plans as of now. But maybe.
How exactly is the RWD version half a second faster from 0-60 than the AWD version? Makes no sense.
Awd has less horsepower and weighs more.
Good review Steve and Nice car, would definately have another lexus, germans would not get a look in.
Reliable ❤🎉

Review the Acura RLX
Highly likely.

I like the f sport of this version
I dunno.... the styling still seems pretty subdued compared to other. Just like the RLX.
Early next month.

The automotive equivalent of a Boeing Dreamliner.

My period of "joy" lasted about 2 weeks. Switched to Lexus LS and will never go back.
MB certainly is beautiful, but I'd prefer to drive the LS without the headaches.

Sorry its still not turning heads!
great car for the rich to fly under the radar with.

lexus drivers are getting older... buick drivers are getting younger...

Indeed a great car but I would still rather the Audi A8
Ugly chrome door handles! German cars do look better & drive better, but Japanese cars are more reliable.

Cadillac?? this is a joke right? does Cadillac even have a super luxury car? my friend has the Cadillac SRX and it's a pos..
The only draw back is the front grill... sh look!
The interior design is rather poor
That is one beautiful car in an ugly color ;)
agreed
Don't like Lexus at all. Over priced.
The interior design is rather poor
